Only 4% of Americans see gun control as a priority.

Poll: Nobody Media Cares About Gun Control Except the Media.

Gallup released a poll Monday that asked Americans to list the most important problems currently facing the country. Despite the fact that the media has been on a months-long, 24/7 crusade to convince DC lawmakers to restrict our Second Amendment civil rights, this propaganda push has failed miserably with the overall population: Only 4% of Americans see gun control as a priority.

Perhaps Colorado Democrats shouldn’t be sleeping quite so well.

Climate scientists struggle to explain warming slowdown

Climate scientists struggle to explain warming slowdown | Reuters.

Scientists are struggling to explain a slowdown in climate change that has exposed gaps in their understanding and defies a rise in global greenhouse gas emissions.

Boulder Chamber urges new city vote on municipalization

Boulder Chamber urges new city vote on municipalization – Boulder Daily Camera.

Boulder Spokeswoman Sarah Huntley…

“Legally speaking, there is no additional vote necessary,” she said. “We’re doing the due diligence to determine if the criteria can be met and creating a local utility is the best way to achieve our goals.”

My money’s on Sarah.

The War against the Young

The War against the Young – Victor Davis Hanson – National Review Online.

Read the whole thing. Better yet, don’t. No reason for the younger generation to realize the screw job their getting. No need to wake up until I’ve received the benefits of the 3:1 age banding of the “Affordable” Care Act and all your tax money to prop up Social Security and Medicare.

To a generation saddled with college debt and facing bleak job prospects, the current Democratic hysteria over any sensible reform of Social Security and Medicare increasingly sounds just as surreal. In fact, the only question left about reforming entitlements is not if, but when: whether those in their forties and fifties will share the pain of cutting back, or whether the escalating burdens of keeping the system solvent will fall entirely on a younger generation that will have bigger debts and smaller incomes.

Votes matter.

“Where do I go for my amnesty?”

Magnet on! Amnesty border rush starts | The Daily Caller.

Linda Vickers, who owns a ranch in Brooks County, which is Ground Zero for the immigration debate, pins the blame directly on talk of ‘amnesty’ and a ‘path to citizenship’ for people who entered the U.S. illegally.

She recalls one man being arrested on her ranch not long ago.

“The Border Patrol agent was loading one man up, and he told the officer in Spanish, ‘Obama’s gonna let me go’.”

Border Patrol agents report that immigrants are crossing the border, and in some cases surrendering while asking, “Where do I go for my amnesty?”

The rush is on. Move along nothing to see here, no unintended consequences.

Trading Freedom for Security Is Often Dangerous

Trading Freedom for Security Is Often Dangerous | Conservative News Flash.

Freedom to do as we please has to yield to security and the freedom of others. How much freedom should we trade for security? How much do we still have? Another question is, do we still have choices?

Our earnings, property and other assets are increasingly viewed by libruls as belonging to the Government. The bases asserted for their notions include a perceived need for an ever higher, more comfortable and more spacious “floor” for those who prefer (but do not need) to be cared for by a benign Government (i.e., tax payers). There, they can snooze, booze, use illegal drugs, procreate, play or do whatever else may please them. It’s the socially responsible way to go. Right? Wrong.

Wrong.

Inchoate Rage

Inchoate Rage | Zero Hedge.

To talk about something as being “inchoate” means that it is still in its formative stages and is undeveloped. If rage is “inchoate”, it does not yet have a specific cause or those who feel the rage are not sure of the nature of what is causing the emotion. Like their compatriots all over the world, Americans know that what is coming out of their politicians and “financiers” is a load of malevolent hogwash, but they cannot put their finger on precisely why this is so. Many suspect the truth but do not want to face it because of what it implies about their own actions as well as the actions of their rulers.

If you’re a “lover” of big government being the solution to our ills you should stop reading now…

The US government claims that the “economy” is recovering. The American people know it is not. The US government claims that unemployment is going down and prices are not going up. The American people know that both are going up. The US government claim that the “extraordinary” financial measures are specifically intended to safeguard the prosperity of the people. Americans know that their prosperity has evaporated and that the government is making it as hard as they possibly can for the people to regain it.

A growing number of Americans (and people right around the world) know all these things. They know that in reality, the government is living on their backs. But their rage remains “inchoate” because they have not yet faced the fact that the “entitlements” they refuse to surrender is what is keeping them in bondage. It is true that Americans are confused and that many if not most of them are angry. Until they face the ROOT of their problems, they are destined to stay that way.

‘We Need To Impinge On Individual Freedoms’ For ‘Common Good’

Melissa Harris-Perry Doubles Down: ‘We Need To Impinge On Individual Freedoms’ For ‘Common Good’.

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

“This isn’t about me wanting to take your kids, and this isn’t even about whether children are property. This is about whether we as a society, expressing our collective will through our public institutions, including our government, have a right to impinge on individual freedoms in order to advance a common good. And that is exactly the fight that we have been having for a couple hundred years.”

Melissa Haris-Perry is the enemy.

Boulder’s municipalization critics cite risks

Boulder’s municipalization critics cite risks – Boulder Daily Camera.

LOL!

From the commenter Don Wrege:

“Xcel officials believe the city has underestimated the costs of running a utility by as much as $10 million to $15 million a year.”

The city has underestimated the costs of basic infrastructure maintenance. Why should this situation be any different?

Indeed. Why?

The municipalization effort would be laughable, at least to me, if the City wasn’t busy trying to take approximately 5,000 county residents, with no vote, along for the ride. No, I’m not in danger of immediate annexation.

Background: Xcel: Boulder has no legal right to electricity customers in unincorporated county

Municipalization opponents hint at new ballot measure

Municipalization opponents hint at new ballot measure – Boulder Daily Camera.

What a great idea!

Sure looks like the potentially affected Boulder County residents will still be getting screwed…

Some county residents have also pressed for a vote because they didn’t get a say in the initial municipalization vote.

Suzanne Real, who lives in Palo Park, an unincorporated enclave in north Boulder, said she’s happy with her service from Xcel Energy and doesn’t trust the city. She said she chose to live in the county for a reason and wants a say in whether she has to accept service from a municipal utility.

Boulder has cited the state constitution for its authority to acquire property and provide utility service in unincorporated areas. Officials say they need two county substations that serve both city and county customers in order to have a more reliable energy utility.

Senior Assistant City Attorney Kathy Haddock said there is no way for county residents to vote on what the city should do. Such a vote would not be legally binding. (emphasis added – Ed)

Really. Five thousand people without a voice. Truly there is something wrong with that and something wrong with a City government that thinks like that. Don’t forget, the two ballot measures passed by very slim margins. Perhaps if City residents had understood that 5,000 of their County bretheran would not get a voice the vote would have flipped.

IRS: We can read emails without warrant

Be careful out there.

In a 2009 handbook, the IRS said the Fourth Amendment does not protect emails  because Internet users “do not have a reasonable expectation of privacy in such  communications.” A 2010 presentation by the IRS Office of General Counsel  reiterated the policy.

Pimco’s Bill Gross get’s a lesson in Federal Reserve cronyism

Posted today on Pimco’s facebook page:

Post 1: Fed releases separate E-mail to congressional staffers and LOBBYISTS? This bothers me.

Post 2: Now we hear that banks & private equity firms are on a favored Fed email list, got an early release & didn’t disclose it! Say What?

I heard recently that Bill had increased his holdings of US Treasuries to the highest levels since July (2012). Perhaps he will give that a 2nd thought.
