Losing faith in the MSM

Instapundit is becoming disallusioned (even more?) with the MSM, especially NPR.

The comments at the Daily Telegraph site are entertaining as well.

Boulder liberal thought process

Over at Liberal and Loving It is an excellent example of the liberal thought process. Commenting on an article over at RedState analyzing the Fannie/Freddie bailout they latch on to this “death to CEO’s comment”..

Today’s report makes no mention of the fact that both Fannie and Freddie have engaged in some shenanigans recently to make their capital positions look less bad. Their CEOs are being fired summarily for this.

If we were in China, they’d probably have “committed suicide” with bullets inexplicably entering the backs of their heads. I’d certainly want to shoot them if I were a shareholder of either GSE. There are some things the Chinese do better than we do.

Liberal and loving it concludes…

That’s right, they’re wishing that CEOs that screw up would be summarily shot. Now kudos to them that they want CEOs to pay a price for incompetence. But this is a bit over the top.

and

But shooting the CEOs? Wow, I guess it’s ok to screw regular people but when you screw the stockholders, then they’re ready to exact serious punishment.

Good grief Charlie Brown, guess you were born without the sense of humor gene?

Larry Kudlow notes

The louder the Left screams the better the Alaska governor seems to do.

Simple observation tells me this is true.

Global cooling coming

At least according to The Old Farmer’s Almanac.

“We at the Almanac are among those who believe that sunspot cycles and their effects on oceans correlate with climate changes,” writes meteorologist and climatologist Joseph D’Aleo. “Studying these and other factor suggests that cold, not warm, climate may be our future.”

Of course, that IS climate change isn’t it?

Detroit Free Press

Something about “free” and purposely misleading your readers doesn’t sit well with me. Just wish I found it surprising.

The editor of the Detroit Free Press has expressed regret for using Code Pink members and other liberal activists in a pool of supposed independents used to comment on Sarah Palin’s convention speech. But overall, he doesn’t seem too upset about the fact that his paper presented four out of the seven people in their comments of independents reacting to Palin because he regards the most important thing is to have provocative comments.

Furthermore, this should bother all newspaper publishers and editors because it reflects on the group as a whole.

It’s not just a Boulder thing!

Betsy comments on how the nomination of Sarah Palin is driving liberals “absolutely nuts”.

What has been striking to me in the past couple of weeks is how the nomination of Sarah Palin to being McCain’s running mate has driven some liberals absolutely nuts. I’m not talking just about those lurking at Democratic Underground or Daily Kos, but professional writers and analysts have just gone round the bend and they’re not embarrassed to put their hatred out there for all to see. They just can’t seem to be able to get over that she comes from a small town, has five children, hunts, and doesn’t seem embarrassed about all this, but rather seems proud. And the fact that many Americans have responded to her positively is just making her critics even more ferociously angry.

Betsy concludes…

She has triggered the type of hatred it took George W. Bush years to engender. It’s only going to get worse. Can you imagine how angry Obama supporters will be if he should actually lose? The post-2000 election anger will be nothing compared to what will face McCain and Palin if they should win in November. We’ll be told about how racist America is because it had the temerity not to vote for the first African-American candidate on a major party ticket. And what if, as seems quite possible, McCain wins the Electoral College vote and Obama wins the popular vote? The vitriol that will be unleashed will be something mighty depressing to observe. That’s why I am skeptical of any promises that McCain is making about changing Washington. The environment there will be just too ugly for anything productive to get done.

Why do they hate her so much? Because she, undeserving hick that she is, may actually have provided the necessary excitement to defeat their guy, Barack Obama. And that they just can’t forgive. And so, like rabid dogs, they go on the attack and they don’t care what deranged things they say.

I think her note about McCain being unable to change Washington after such a bitter election are worth noting. (assuming he wins of course!)

Media bias?

Sounds like the Washington Post needs to examine its reporting. On the other hand, perhaps a few more people need to cancel their subscriptions?

Dem’s 2nd guessing

That’s sure easy to believe.

“It’s more than an increased anxiety,” said Doug Schoen, who worked as one of Bill Clinton’s lead pollsters during his 1996 reelection and has worked for both Democrats and independents in recent years. “It’s a palpable frustration. Deep-seated unease in the sense that the message has gotten away from them.”

Judging from the hysteria of the local (very large) liberal population there’s plenty of angst and 2nd guessing going around. The best part is it seems to get worse everyday.

Dem’s you need to get back on message, not spend all your energy hyperventilating about Sarah Palin. I wouldn’t give you this advice if I thought you would take it!

Charlie Rangel is “a jewell”

Charlie, one would hope the American public of both parties is tired up putting up with your pathetically lame excuses. Lucky for you, the operative word is “hope”. You’re a loser.

Pure and simple, you can’t make this stuff up. This guy is the head of the committee that writes the tax laws? Talk about the land of opportunity.

$12 billion vs. $2 billion

According to the Wall Street Journal, even adjusted for inflation, Bill Clinton’s budget while Governor of Arkansas doesn’t match up to Sarah Palin’s Alaska budget. Not to mention the Governor of Alaska is unusually powerful.

In Alaska, the Governor has line-item veto power over the budget and can only be overridden by a three-quarters majority of the Legislature. In 1992, the year Arkansas Governor Bill Clinton was elected President, his state budget was $2 billion and among the smallest in the country. Compared to that, Sarah Palin is an executive giant.

FactCheck.org on Governor Palin

Keep up the great work Barack! Why don’t you send a few lawyers to keep an eye on Charlie Rangel, he makes tax law but can’t follow it.

Geez, I’ve embedded numerous YouTube videos so I have no idea why suddenly I can’t do it. You can watch the video here.

Dem’s blow a gasket

I know most Democrats aren’t like this, but the continuous parade of letters to the editor at the Daily Camera (local Boulder paper) and Erika Stutzman editorials tells me there IS panic in the air regarding McCain’s choice of Sarah Palin as his running mate. Then you have the Democratic National leaders blowing a gasket as documented by Power Line…

Example #1, Carol Fowler of SC:

South Carolina Democratic chairwoman Carol Fowler sharply attacked Sarah Palin today, saying John McCain had chosen a running mate “whose primary qualification seems to be that she hasn’t had an abortion.”

Example #2, Rep. Steve Cohen of Tennessee (follow the link for the video):

The Democratic Party has gone around the bend. Here is Rep. Steve Cohen of Tennessee on the floor of the House today. Barack Obama is Jesus, and Sarah Palin is Pontius Pilate:
