“Damn” was her audible response
I recently heard a surprising story: A female CEO was briefed on a stellar candidate for a top job at her company. “Sounds ideal,” she said to the group in the room. “Male or female?” Male was the answer. “Damn” was her audible response. The guy wasn’t even interviewed. Why Are Men SilentSearch BIS

Student suspension for anti-obama shirt
I’m with the school on this one. This is a learning environment, get the chip off your shoulder, employ one less lawyer and move on. Of course, I’m assuming the school would take the same action for an equivalent McCain or Bush t-shirt.
A fifth-grader in the Denver suburb of Aurora says he’s been suspended from school for wearing a homemade T-shirt that said “Obama is a terrorist’s best friend.”
the schools response….
Aurora Public Schools officials say they respect students’ free speech rights but also watch for things that might interrupt the learning environment. They say they can’t discuss the specifics of Daxx’s case.
The student was given the choice of changing his t-shirt, turning it inside out or being suspended and he chose to be suspended. Good grief Charlie Brown, obviously learning is not the students or his families top priority.

stoopid judges and it’s not in Boulder
Another shining example of justice in our legal system.
Well this sounds familiar…
Sabino, the bankruptcy expert from St. John’s, said problem lies primarily with the judge’s interpretation of the law.
Judge Charles Rendlen III, you should vacation with local Boulder County Judge James C. Klein! He’s enamored with giving away people’s private property to their neighbors
This post was modified slightly (Klein link and mention of property giveaway) on 9/23 @ 9:31pm.

Red light cameras
“Red light cameras are a troubling example of how government and business put money over safety and common sense to tag team Tennessee’s drivers,” Owen said.
Boulderites, no need to wonder if your city government is doing the same thing, I’m sure a red light camera study from Tennessee couldn’t possibly be valid in the People’s Republic.
Of course, don’t ya wonder if simply adding 1 second to the yellow light timing might make a big difference? Didn’t think so.

My suggestion is to grow up. For those of you who thrive on the garbage emmitting from her mouth, you need to grow up too.

Use your brain when making voting decision…
According to todays Daily Camera editorial, Erika Stutzman claims that if your brain is engaged you’ll vote for Obama.
It seems a just a little condescending to me, but typical for the local paper.

Democratic hard ball
I must be from Missouri, so explain this one to me…
When only Hillary was going to the rally against Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad it wasn’t a political event, but when Sarah Palin decided to attend and Hillary dropped out, suddenly it was a political event?
Because of this, the Dem’s threatened to revoke the tax exempt status of jewish organizations involved in the rally. How childish, how immature, how Democratic.
They got one reaction from an organizer…
“I’m absolutely appalled at the behavior of the Democrats,” said Bob Kunst of Defenders.net. “I’m a Democrat and for the first time in my life I’m going to vote Republican. I can’t take it anymore.”
Follow the link and watch the video. There’s also a Rangel bonus at the end of the video. Hope it’s worth it Democrats, keep up the good work!
Added…
More from Hot Air, which references the above reporting and takes it a step or two further. Apparently NBC became conerned about equal representation; funny thing about that, it hadn’t bothered them in the past!
NBC wrote about the tax-exemption issue two days ago but they made it sound like something the organizers had taken up of their own accord. Quote from an unnamed official involved: “The IRS is very clear, Hillary Clinton does not equal Sarah Palin… You have to have equal representation of candidates.” You do? Here’s the speaker list from last year’s anti-Iran rally at the UN. Scott Garrett is a Republican congressman; as far as I know, every other pol on the list is a Democrat.

Gold
With all the financial turmoil, it’s probably a good time to take a look at a long term chart of the price of gold.

Cost of government bailout
The cost of the government bailout of the Wall Street and the US financial system is $2500/person according to libertarian Radney Balko. I agree with his conclusions as well. Wall Street firms took idiotic risks but they were pushed/incentized to do so, at least in some cases.
I have no qualms with criminal and civil prosecution of many Wall Street executives, but it is overly simplistic that they shoulder all the blame. Our government officials and yes even our common citizens who took loans that they couldn’t repay all play a part in this tangled web.
In conclusion, there’s more than enough stupidity to go around.

Boulder County may have lost $601 thousand
Boulder County treasurer Bob Hullinghorst reported yesterday that the Boulder County could lose as much as $601 thousand due to investments the County made with the Colorado Diversified Trust.
The rapid ripple effect of this week’s collapse of a major Wall Street banking firm has tied up $601,591 in Boulder County government funds invested in that firm’s commercial paper.
County Treasurer Bob Hullinghorst said Friday, however, that he hopes Boulder County eventually can recover between 35 percent and 85 percent of that $601,591, which was part of a $5 million amount that a pool of local Colorado government investors had spent on commercial paper from Lehman Brothers.
Hullinghorst defended his investment selections…
But Hullinghorst, who will make a presentation about the situation to the Board of County Commissioners on Tuesday, added: “Believe me, this was a risk that some of the largest investment houses on Wall Street did not anticipate.”
I don’t know that I can fault investing in the Colorado Diversified Trust, although a similar default situation occurred in Florida I believe, which should have raised warning flags. That said, I can’t swallow his statement that this was an unanticipated risk. That’s like investing in IBM because it’s the largest company and therefore is a “safe” investment. There was plenty of warning that all was not well.
Well over a year ago, the company I worked for had a 401K option called a Stable Value Fund, which was meant to be a money market fund equivalent. I have little doubt that particular option would be in very deep trouble at the moment if it weren’t for the government bailout. At the time, they did not even offer a money market fund. I questioned that this was a breech of their fidicuary duty. They laughed. I bet they aren’t laughing now and thanking Uncle Sam and the taxpayers.
Also, why is this reported in the Longmont Times Call but not a word in the Boulder Daily Camera?

Woody didn’t promise to leave if Obama lost
“It would be a disgrace and a humiliation if Barack Obama does not win,” he told Spanish journalists at the ongoing 56th San Sebastian film festival, where his latest film “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” is being screened.
“It would be a very, very terrible thing for the United States in many, many ways,” he said.
Another Hollywood know-it-all.

Rangel an idiot
Probably a hero to the Boulder liberal population. I’m sure you’ve heard by now that Charlie has declared Sarah Palin disabled.
Why do the Democrats believe they can handle the pressure of running the country when they can’t handle Sarah Palin?

Michelle on voting
Hey, even I can agree with Michelle Obama on this one…
Michelle Obama asked voters Thursday to make their choice on the issues, not because, “I like that guy” or, “she’s cute.”
Sounds like her opinion of “some” voters isn’t very high.

Andrew Hallam
Adjunct Professor Andrew Hallam has changed his assignment. You can see the CBS Channel 4 video report here.
Of course, I’m sure Andrew grades fairly.
Ridiculing students in the classroom because they are Republican shows a total lack of class. Something I would expect in the Daily Camera comment pages, not in the classroom. You go Jana Barber, you’re a hero in my book.

e-mail hacker finds nothing
According to Sarah Palin’s e-mail hacker this is what he found…
I read though the emails… ALL OF THEM… before I posted, and what I concluded was anticlimactic, there was nothing there, nothing incriminating, nothing that would derail her campaign as I had hoped, all I saw was personal stuff, some clerical stuff from when she was governor…. And pictures of her family.
Only then did he figure out that he could really be in trouble…
yes I was behind a proxy, only one, if this shit ever got to the FBI I was fucked, I panicked, i still wanted the stuff out there but I didn’t know how to rapidshit all that stuff, so I posted the pass on /b/, and then promptly deleted everything, and unplugged my internet and just sat there in a comatose state
Sounds like it was fun until he realized what he’d done. How disappointing nothing juicy there, eh? She must have “baited” him somehow, that’s the only way her mailbox could be so “clean”. Isn’t that right Dem’s?
