Things that can’t go on forever, won’t. Debt that can’t be repaid, won’t be. Promises that can’t be kept, won’t be. – Glenn Harlan Reynolds/Instapundit
A little known rule change that allows companies to contribute fewer dollars to pension funds is signaling just how meaningless the retirement vehicle has become.
Colorado PERA should like this. If you’re covered by PERA, you shouldn’t.
I’m sure the standard message of “Nothing to see here, move along” will be trumpeted by the MSM.
I’ve been disheartened, to say the least, that we would go forward with the blatent falsehood that somehow this is going to protect safe and secure elections.
No more voters actually demonstrating an interest in participating in an election. The government will decide that for them, and scatter millions of paper ballots into the U.S. mail.
In 2016, this system will be an invitation to fraud. It will be unmanageable. And it will be a model to pass in other states controlled by Democrats.
Despite the effort of some senators, this proposal will almost certainly become law because the GOP doesn’t have the numbers to stop it. Election-integrity champion and Colorado Secretary of State Scott Gessler is trying to explain how this proposal will breed fraud, but Democrats don’t care.
This bill is about power, not good government. If it passes, Colorado will likely remain blue for years. Those who doubt that don’t understand how important process is to election outcomes. Cleta Mitchell, an election-law expert, recently spoke to the True the Vote national summit on the topic: ”Process, process, process,” she told the audience.
Process is what the Left cares about, so much so that they are pouring $100,000,000 into the “Democracy Initiative,” a plot to permanently reshape American politics by altering election-process laws.
The conservative and GOP response? Next to nothing. It will probably include more money for radio spots the weekend before an election and more tweets.
The Left understands they can reshape the country on issues of immigration, abortion, taxes, business regulation, defense, terrorism, and health care by reshaping election-process laws. This is why they oppose voter ID, citizenship verification, and purges of dead voters. This is why they propose early voting, welfare agency voter registration, same-day voter registration (which gave us Al Franken), felon voting, and counting illegal aliens for redistricting purposes to subsidize Democrat legislative seats. (emphasis added)
When you control election-process rules, your ideas need not appeal to a majority of people to obtain power.
Perhpas horseshit is not strong enough of a word. It is NOT that hard to be prepared to vote. Colorado Democrats should be ashamed.
Stephanie Stewart, an honors student at the Borough of Manhattan Community College on an academic scholarship, was due to deliver her son before the end of the spring semester in 2012. She needed some accommodations because she would not be able to attend every session of her women’s studies class. Stewart figured her professor would be understanding—it was a women’s studies class. But she wasn’t. The professor told Stewart that she wouldn’t be able to make up any tests or assignments she missed due to doctor’s appointments or labor and delivery. “When I received a backlash from her and no support from her, I was extremely stunned. I felt disrespected,” Stewart says.
No one’s head is bigger than Al’s. The University of Tennessee must be so proud they gave an ass-hat like Al Gore an Honorary Doctorate. Big Al received an Honorary Doctor of Laws and Humane Letters in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology in May of 2010.
I took the opportunity to tell the University to forget I existed except for transcripts.
A BATTERED mum last night told of her outrage after the NHS refused to rebuild her shattered nose — as wannabe model Josie Cunningham flaunted her taxpayer-funded boobs.
Of course it can’t happen here. No way, no how. The collective “We” or at least the collective “Progressive We” is so much smarter in the United States and of course Boulder than in Britain.
The Colorado law would make mail-in ballots mandatory while eliminating local polling places and allowing people to vote on the same day they register.
Critics of the bill say that these changes could lead to fraud and voter intimidation.
Wow, it’s so hard to imagine same day registration could lead to fraud and voter intimidation. C’mon folks, voting is simply not that hard if you give a damn.
In a statement, the Fed made clear that it could increase or decrease its bond purchases depending on the performance of the job market and inflation. And it was explicit for the first time that tax increases and federal budget cuts are “restraining economic growth.”
I’m using Windows 7 and auto update installed IE 10 this morning. DO NOT DO THIS. STAY AWAY. On may sites all the text is in bold, it is very distracting. It also deleted all my cookies so sites that had my passwords saved are messed up, etc.
It appears that reverting back to IE 9 is not that difficult so I will do that this evening and report back. Needless to say, I’m turning off auto update. I really don’t have time for this BS.
Are student loans turning into junk bonds? With something like $1 trillion of student loan debt outstanding, investor skittishness is not good news.
Yes. Don’t worry, the government will take care of it. Of course, there is more student loan dept because the cost of higher Ed is rising at a frightening rate.
Recently, CourseSmart, an e-textbook provider, created an infographic that lays out in simple terms the details of the college tuition explosion — and they’re truly frightening. Over the last 30 years, tuition has increased 1,120 percent; by comparison, even the “skyrocketing” cost of health care only rose 600 percent, and housing costs have gone up a paltry 375 percent.
The system is broken. Student loans are not the solution.
No mention of the potential 5000 county residents that would be annexed by the City that got no vote. Talk about ethics.
How convenient that the potential annexation came to light AFTER the vote. C’mon DC, do you really believe that some of the Boulder intellectuals that are in favor of municipalization weren’t aware of Xcel’s power distribution? Me thinks someone “bit there tongue”, don’t you? Why don’t you do some investigative reporting and find out? Oh, perhaps because the DC has it’s own agenda in favor of municipalization?
Meanwhile neither the City or the County can take care of their roads. The County at least believes they did it legally and went through a procedure to “make it so”. The City government is simply incompetent.
Both the City and the County have much more interest in doing “social engineering” and “saving the planet” then in actually providing the basic services of government.
I recently heard a surprising story: A female CEO was briefed on a stellar candidate for a top job at her company. “Sounds ideal,” she said to the group in the room. “Male or female?” Male was the answer. “Damn” was her audible response. The guy wasn’t even interviewed. Why Are Men Silent
“This has been the coldest season with the most ice since we started Arctic Watch in 2000. Almost no whales. The NWPassage is still blocked with ice. Some of the bays still have not melted!”

And rather than follow the conventional path of indebting yourself for 13-years so that you can attend university for four, and then fork over the bulk of your pay to the government, instead focus on learning tangible, valuable skills overseas.
