Rand Paul: Bring him on…

The Rand Paul moment – Rich Lowry – POLITICO.com.

You won’t find him on any Federal Election Commission disclosure forms, but Director of National Intelligence James Clapper is the biggest in-kind donor to the incipient Rand Paul for president campaign.

Whatever its merits, the National Security Agency meta-data program couldn’t be better fashioned to play into fears of the government. Is it vast? Yes. Was it secret? Check. Does it arguably run outside the normal checks and balances of government? Uh-huh. Does it raise profound questions about privacy? Roger.

Don’t screw with the Obama narrative

Obama’s crackdown views leaks as aiding enemies of U.S. | McClatchy.

“They clearly perceived me as an insider threat,” said Greenstein, who has since rewritten the book and has received CIA permission to publish portions of it. “By saying ‘I have a problem with this place and I want to make it better,’ I was instantly turned into a security threat,” she said. The CIA declined to comment.

Somewhere along the line, whatever their protecting won’t be worth protecting. Of course, they will be the last to know.

Government Report: Obamacare Faces Rough Launch

Government Report: Obamacare Faces Rough Launch.

From GAO report:

There’s no guarantee that President Barack Obama’s health care law will launch smoothly and on time, congressional investigators say in the first in-depth independent look at its progress.

….

“Whether (the administration’s) contingency planning will assure the timely and smooth implementation of the exchanges by Oct. 2013 cannot yet be determined,” the report concluded. A copy was provided to The Associated Press.

Hmmm, wer’re only 3 1/2 months away. What was that comment about Obamacare implementation not being a “third-world experience?” It’a a good thing their setting everyone’s expectations low.

Future cost estimates…

The report said the administration will need another $2 billion in the next fiscal year to establish and operate the federal exchanges. Of that, Congress would have to provide $1.5 billion, while user fees paid by insurers account for the remainder.

Does it really cost THIS much to address the actual problems that existed in the health care system? I think not. The mantra of “keep it simple stupid” has long been lost on our lawmakers.

News Boulderites can use: Ballot fraud in Obama-Clinton primary

Indiana Dem official sentenced to prison for ’08 ballot fraud in Obama-Clinton primary | Fox News.

Nees has told Fox News that the fraud was clearly evident, “because page after page of signatures are all in the same handwriting.”

He also noted that no one raised any red flags about the forgeries, and that the petitions sailed through the Board of Elections without any problems, “because election workers in charge of verifying their validity were the same people faking the signatures.”

“The most amazing part about this voter fraud case involving the highest office in the United States is the fact that such a few number of people, because of laziness, arrogance or both did not do their job and thus could have affected the outcome of the election,” noted St. Joseph County Republican Party Charwoman Dr. Deborah Fleming.

The wheels of justice slowly turn.

Sharyl Attkisson sends a message to her hacker(s)

Sharyl Attkisson: I think I know who hacked into my computers « Hot Air.

She covers some of the same ground with O’Reilly that she covered in yesterday’s CBS segment, but he finally gets her to confirm near the end that yes, she has a solid suspicion about whodunnit. And if she’s willing to make an issue of this on her network, let alone another one, while taking care to emphasize that this all happened while she was working on stories that embarrassed Obama and his DOJ, it’s abundantly clear who she thinks the culprit is. You don’t go on national news to talk about being hacked if you think it’s some kid halfway around the world who was messing around.

Stay tuned…

“Who watches the watchers?” asks John Fund

Watching the NSA Watchers | National Review Online.

Warning signs…

How many warning signs — emerging virtually all at once — do we need to realize that the American people have lost control of their government? Not only that, but large sectors of the government have lost any ability to provide checks and balances or even monitor the bureaucracy. (emphasis added – Ed)

John concludes…

With regard to to national security, the question is, Who watches the watchers? If the answer is that no one really can, then we have a country that has transformed profoundly in key ways in the last ten years. One of Osama bin Laden’s stated goals for the 9/11 attacks was to fundamentally change the way Americans live. It will be a bitter irony if our government, in its effort to protect us from al-Qaeda, makes that part of the terrorists’ plan into a permanent reality.

Bitter irony indeed.

We cannot trust the Obama government

Read the whole thing: We cannot trust the Obama government | Fox News.

My concern is not about this president, but about those under him. Under President Obama, we have seen an Internal Revenue Service harass conservative, Jewish, and Christian groups.

We have seen the Department of Homeland Security label Tea Party activists, evangelicals, and veterans returning from abroad as threats.

We have seen the Environmental Protection Agency show favoritism to liberal groups and obstruct conservative groups.

We have seen a Department of Justice sell arms to Mexican drug cartels, turn a blind eye to the New Black Panthers, and target journalists.

We have seen a State Department bungle its handling of Benghazi and engage in a cover up of the details of just how badly they screwed up.

We have seen the Department of Agriculture frivolously dole out taxpayer dollars in the scandalous Pigford program. And this is not a complete list.

The president has maintained for five years that the buck does not stop with him. He routinely promotes, praises, or otherwise gives a pass to those who have screwed up, abused the rights of American citizens, and squandered American tax dollars.

If not the president — and most Americans do still hold him in high regard — his administration has abused the trust of the American people.

The there’s that moral capital thingy. That IS the President.

Sharyl Attkisson Shares Update On Computer Hacking Investigation

Sharyl Attkisson Shares Update On Computer Hacking Investigation « CBS Philly.

“There were just signs of unusual happenings for many months, odd behavior like the computers just turning themselves on at night and then turning themselves back off again. I was basically able to verify and obtain information from my sources on the suspicious activity and I reported it to CBS News in January because of course it included CBS equipment and systems.”

Nothing to see here move along. If you’re a member of the MSM covering the Obama administration and your computer hasn’t been hacked, perhaps you’re not asking the right questions.

No Fooling: Government compromises our trust

Government compromises our trust.

Glenn Reynolds concludes in his forthcoming USA today column:

But it’s the Obama administration that has demonstrated a disrespect for institutions. When Obama had been in office for just a few months, he “joked” about auditing his enemies and I warned: “Mr. Obama has been accused of not appreciating the importance of financial capital to the proper functioning of the economy. But ill-chosen remarks like his ASU audit threat suggest that he also doesn’t appreciate the role of moral capital.”

Obviously, he didn’t listen. To function properly, our government depends on moral capital, capital that has been seriously squandered. In their second terms, presidents tend to worry about their legacies. Will Obama’s legacy be a historic destruction of trust in government?

YES.

Moral capital is in a deficit. It’s long past time that his minions that testify to Congress stop taking stupid pills right before they testify. They are either willfully ignorant or stupid beyond all belief. Either way, they need to find new jobs, preferably in the unemployment line.

The emperor may have no clothes, but no one in the inner circle will tell him until it’s too late. And a question for the MSM: Have you considered how your moral capital has been squandered?

Most likely a question that’s never occurred to you.

Obamacare? We were just leaving …

Obamacare? We were just leaving … – Anna Palmer and Jake Sherman – POLITICO.com.

This is an issue for two reasons:

1. The Grassley amendment which forces government employees to participate in Obamacare plans offered through an exchange

2. Since the government is a large employer, there is no mechanism for these employees to receive subsidies, hence they are responsible for the full cost of their health coverage.

The “brain drain” issue mentioned in the article, and I’ve heared it elsewhere as well, is of no concern to me…

If the issue isn’t resolved, and massive numbers of lawmakers and aides bolt, many on Capitol Hill fear it could lead to a brain drain just as Congress tackles a slew of weighty issues — like fights over the Tax Code and immigration reform.

I’ll let these staff members in on a little secret…. “you’re not that smart”.

The Inside Story of a “Juror Revolt” in Amish Raw Milk Trial

The Inside Story of a “Juror Revolt” in Amish Raw Milk Trial – Modern Farmer.

Not only did Judge Reynolds mention the letter, he imposed a fine much smaller than the maximum: $1,000 plus $513 in court costs. And it wasn’t the only letter he received: Judge Reynolds said he received letters from three jurors in support of the farmer and that it was the first time in more than a dozen years on the bench that he had been contacted by jurors seeking leniency or acquittal for the man they had convicted.

Two words come to mind: Jury nullificaiton.

Liberals upset plane carrying George W. Bush didn’t crash, kill former president – National Policy & Issues

News you can use: Liberals upset plane carrying George W. Bush didn’t crash, kill former president – National Policy & Issues | Examiner.com.

Some readers at CNN also appeared upset that Bush survived the incident.

“We need to depopulate the earth, starting with him isn’t a bad idea,” one person wrote.

“I never voted for him, and I am not happy he is okay,” added “Jay.”

“I would have had a mini celebration if he went down in the plane. He’s an evil guy…would you cry if Hitler had died in a plane crash? Yes that is a gross exaggeration but still a valid analogy,” wrote another reader.

“I didn’t vote for him either but I wish the SOB had died. He’s earned his special place in hell,” added another reader.

You can’t make this stuff up.
