Obamacare? We were just leaving … – Anna Palmer and Jake Sherman – POLITICO.com.

This is an issue for two reasons:

1. The Grassley amendment which forces government employees to participate in Obamacare plans offered through an exchange

2. Since the government is a large employer, there is no mechanism for these employees to receive subsidies, hence they are responsible for the full cost of their health coverage.

The “brain drain” issue mentioned in the article, and I’ve heared it elsewhere as well, is of no concern to me…

If the issue isn’t resolved, and massive numbers of lawmakers and aides bolt, many on Capitol Hill fear it could lead to a brain drain just as Congress tackles a slew of weighty issues — like fights over the Tax Code and immigration reform.

I’ll let these staff members in on a little secret…. “you’re not that smart”.
