“Damn” was her audible response
I recently heard a surprising story: A female CEO was briefed on a stellar candidate for a top job at her company. “Sounds ideal,” she said to the group in the room. “Male or female?” Male was the answer. “Damn” was her audible response. The guy wasn’t even interviewed. Why Are Men SilentSearch BIS

Too much concentrated power. Too much, too much, too much.
Wikipedia Hunger Games:
The Hunger Games takes place in a nation known as Panem, established in North America after the destruction of the continent’s civilization by an unknown apocalyptic event. The nation consists of the wealthy Capitol and twelve surrounding, poorer districts united under the Capitol’s control. District 12, where the book begins, is located in the coal-rich region that was formerly known as Appalachia.[5]

Obamacare cuts home healthcare for millions of seniors
WEBER: Obamacare cuts home healthcare for millions of seniors – Washington Times.
On Jan. 1, Medicare’s home health care services, formerly serving 3.5 million elderly beneficiaries across the country, were cut under Obamacare. The cut deleted exactly 14 percent, or an estimated $22 billion, from these lowest-income Americans over four years. News of the forthcoming cut only trickled out the Friday before Thanksgiving, yet another stunning attempt by the Obama White House to reduce Medicare benefits without attracting notice.
I’m somewhat skeptical that this information wasn’t available earlier and the MSM, being Obama’s lapdogs, elected not to report it.
I bet these folks are going to find a way to vote.
From a big picture perspecitve, this also shows how hard it is to reduce the benefits of government programs.

The DiploMad 2.0: Climbing out of the Obama Foreign Policy Hole.
So what should we do? As noted, it’s the wrong question if focussed solely on Ukraine. It is almost too late to do much about Ukraine per se. This misadministration is all about reacting to crises that arise because of things done by the misadministration. Show weakness, over and over, and you find that your opponents do not take you seriously; they, instead, take advantage of you. You will find yourself two, three, many steps behind your opponent. We set the stage for this disaster with our policies in Egypt, Libya, Syria, Iran, Iraq, and Afghanistan; with our disregard for the nation’s military strength; our abuse of its enormous intelligence capabilities; our electing to power people of low quality.

Amateur Hour: Obama Skips National Security Meeting on Russian Invasion of Ukraine
Obama Skips National Security Meeting on Russian Invasion of Ukraine
President Obama had no public events on his schedule today, yet skipped a meeting of his national security team at the White House today as they huddled over the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Seen leaving the meeting at the White House were Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Martin Dempsey, and CIA Director John Brennan.
Vice President Joe Biden reportedly joined the meeting via videoconference, while Obama was briefed later by National Security Advisor Susan Rice.

Colorado Pushback: Cory Gardner to challenge Mark Udall
Republicans catch another break in the 2014 Senate elections.
This is a huge improvement for the GOP and puts yet another Senate seat in play. Udall, you will recall, has run into real trouble with a scandal relating to his bullying of state Obamacare exchange employees. Between that and his support for the Obama agenda, he had only a single digit lead in polls before the Gardner announcement. Moreover, Obama is polling horribly in the state, below 40 percent in some surveys in a state he won in 2012.
Here that Boulderites” Obama is polling horribly in the state. I know it’s hard to believe but apparently there aren’t enough California refugees and other progressives outside the 24 square miles surrounded by reality that wish to keep swallowing Obama’s lies.
$1.2 Billion: The Cost of Obamacare’s Failed State Exchanges
Obamacare’s Failed State Exchanges – Reason.com. That would include:
- Oregon ($303 million)
- Maryland ($157.2 million)
- Massachusetts ($135.6 million)
- Vermont ($153.7 million)
- Nevada ($83.7 million)
- Hawaii ($205 million)
That’s 50% of the state exchanges and $1.2 billion invested in the these failed websites. Geez, what a stroke of genius that most states decided against building their own exchange.
Colorado has it’s own exchange Connect for Health Colorado. It functions adequately but has many issues that an occassiounal user most likely wouldn’t notice or wouldn’t find irritating. However, if there are issues outside that place you outside the “norm” or their or problems with the Medicaid portion of the process, you quickly begin to see the weak underbelly.

Another day, another Obamacare disaster
The Insiders: Another day, another Obamacare disaster.
We’re talking about the 11 million American works that will have a higher health insurance premiums thanks to Obamacare.
If you’ve been paying attention this is not news to you. However, it’s very likely this IS news to you. Here’s why…
On its face, the fact that the CMS says 11 million workers will see their health-insurance premiums increase should be a banner headline. But in the Obamacare narrative, disclosures like this have pretty much become routine. And that’s what the White House wants the media to think – that there’s no more juice in reporting another Obamacare lie or providing details about how this law is coming apart, undermining health care, killing jobs, decreasing American household income, leaving the uninsured uninsured, etc.
When challenged on the negative impacts of Obamacare, the White House Obamacare media strategy appears to be either to just deny the accuracy of obvious facts or to shrug and assure the compliant media that there is nothing new here. They are counting on the media watchdogs becoming bored with the Obamacare debacle.
And the compliant media will continue to play its part.

Obama lies about Medicaid enrollment
Obamas Claim About Medicaid Enrollments Under Obamacare Gets Four Pinocchios.
The Fact Checker states, “In any case, no matter how you slice it, it does not add up to seven million. It is dismaying that given all of the attention to this issue, the president apparently does not realize that the administration’s data are woefully inadequate for boastful assertions of this type.”
If you’re dismayed, you haven’t been paying attention.
“Good morning! 11 million will pay higher rates for health insurance sz CMS. So wait, who saves $2500?”
‘So wait, who saves’? Martha MacCallum nails POTUS on another Obamacare lie | Twitchy.
Remember when the president and other Dems promised that Obamacare would cut family premiums by $2,500? Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum does.
Any member of the MSM with any common sense that wasn’t in the tank for Obama and his agenda would have realized almost immediately it was a lie. Instead, they and Obama’s Democratic minions mindlessly repeated this idiocy. An election is coming, it’s time for them to pay the price.

“They’re not scaring me. Cancer scares me,”
Cancer patient defends ObamaCare criticism after Dem goes after ad | Fox News.
But AFP and Boonstra are defending the ad and the claims. Boonstra acknowledged that her premiums have been cut in half, but said the out-of-pocket expenses are unpredictable and unaffordable.
“Under my old policy, I knew what I could afford every single month because I wasn’t hit with extra charges. Now I don’t know what I have to pay month to month,” she said. “Leukemia tests are extremely expensive.”
She added: “I am not lying. … I was lied to.”
What’s not clear from this article is that her chemotherapy is not part of her new providers drug formulary, hence it is not a covered expense.
She was right, she WAS lied to. This is also a sophisticated indvidual who spent hours trying to determine a plan that would work for her . Didn’t work because Obamacare doesn’t work.
As gun sales skyrocketed…
Violent crimes plummeted in 2013 as gun sales skyrocketed.
It appears that Robert Heinlein was correct: an armed society really is a polite society.
The FBI has just released their latest semi-annual crime report, covering January to June of 2013.
Nationwide, forcible rape was down 10.6 percent, burglary was down 8.1 percent, murder was down 6.9 percent, and aggravated assault was down 6.6 percent from the previous period. Arson plunged a staggering 15.6 percent.
There was slight increase (0.6-percent ) in murders in cities with a population of 25,000-49,999, and a 2 percent rise in murders in cities with a population of 50,000-99,999. The number of murders plunged the deepest in cities with a population of more than 1 million citizens, which reported a 18.5 percent drop.
Overall, violent crime dropped 5.4 percent, with the largest drop in non-metropolitan areas, which saw a 10.5 drop in overall violent crime, and a 13 percent drop in murders.
One interesting factoid…
National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) data shows that women are the fastest growing gun buying demographic
While correlation does not directly lead to causation, no doubt gun ownership plays a role.
Obamacare Amateur Hour: State Exchange Incompetence
Maryland fires Obamacare exchange IT contractor
Some may say it’s a couple of months late and $65 million short, but Maryland finally fired the contractor that designed its botched Obamacare exchange.
But at least they have signed up 33,000 people, unlike the Cover Oregon, which has not signed up a single person (electronically).
Congressmen want probe of Oregon’s Obamacare exchange
“Although the rollout of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act has been problematic nationwide, no state has had more complications than Oregon,” Walden and the other congressmen wrote. “The state of Oregon’s exchange website, Cover Oregon, has been such a technological failure that the site has been unable to enroll anyone months after the start of the open enrollment period.”
How much has the Cover Oregon fiasco cost taxpayers? Over $160 million…
Malcolm said Cover Oregon has spent at least $160 million to date on the website, which was supposed to be enrolling people in Obamacare insurance plans sold by insurance companies at competitive prices.
The federal government has issued a total of $305 million in grants to Oregon to perform feasibility studies as well as to build, test and operate the exchange. An unknown fraction of those grants have been spent.
Amateur hour is being way too kind. As is incompetence. As a taxpayer I’d like to know how many people have lost their jobs. I feel pretty sure the answer is ‘not enough’.

FCC: ‘It’s only taken seven years, but a member of the mainstream media is finally asking “what are they thinking?” ‘
Over FCC Plans, MSM Finally a Bit Curious re Obama Admin – UPDATED.
“What are they thinking?” Mr. Kurtz, it’s pretty obvious; they’re thinking no one in the mainstream press has asked them a difficult or challenging question in 7 years, so why would they start now.
- They’re thinking an obsequious press that couldn’t be bothered to sustain outrage over intrusions into its own phone and internet records won’t have a problem with the government parking itself into the newsroom.
- They’re thinking that if the mainstream press could forgive them for considering espionage charges against a member of the press — for doing what reporters are supposed to do — and then re-commence their habitual boot-licking, there is no real risk of media folk suddenly calling out a “red line”, or even being able to identify one.
- They’re figuring that with this president, the mainstream media has no idea what “a bridge too far” might mean. Nor, “abuse of power”; nor “cover-up”; nor “mendacity”, “incompetence”, “ineptitude” or “constitutional illiteracy.”
- They know that half the people in the newsroom are either married to (or social buddies with) influential members of this government, and that everyone is all comfy and nicely settled in for the revolution.
- They know that the press willfully surrendered its own freedoms some time ago, in the interests of ideology, and so they really won’t mind a little editorial supervision from the masters:
. . .we no longer need wonder why the mainstream media seems unconcerned about possible attacks on our first amendment rights to freedom of religion and the exercise thereof. They have already cheerfully, willfully surrendered the freedom of the press to the altar of the preferred narrative. People willing to dissolve their own freedoms so cheaply have no interest in anyone else’s freedom, either.
Editors of local newspapers take note. A single column (perhaps “per issue”) paying lip service to these issues with no followup does not provide you cover for not doing your job. You can wake up now or perhaps when it’s too late.
