Burn baby burnA damn good reason to vote for “The Donald” – Trump sends shivers down spines of nations trying to solidify global warming pact | The Japan Times

When asked what worried him most at this stage, Seyni Nafo, climate ambassador for Mali and president of the Africa Group, snapped: “Trump winning the election.” (emphasis added)

It is at least reassuring, Nafo added, that — according to the rules — it would take four years for the United States to withdraw from a ratified treaty.

France’s top climate diplomat, Laurence Tubiana, agreed that Trump in the White House could do serious damage to the new climate regime.

“If the U.S. government is implacably hostile to the Paris Agreement, it won’t help,” she told journalists on the sidelines of the talks.

Makes me happy “it won’t help,” a full derailing would be nice. The article also mentioned Obama’s aggressive use of executive powers that presumably would make it easier for Trump to dismantle US participation in whatever agreements are reached.

Oh and what IS the main agreement?

Under the Paris accord, 196 nations have pledged to hold global warming to well under 2 degrees Celsius (3.6 degrees Fahrenheit), and to help poor countries cope with the impact of climate change while weaning their economies off fossil fuels.

There is no time frame mentioned in the article and a little web searching encountered the above phrase once again with no time frame. I did see that the baseline temperature is based on “pre-industrial” levels.

Goodness gracious, this is suicidal. It’s enough for me to go light the charcoal grill for no reason, just like I did for “earth day.”

I’m late to this party, but looks like Seagate is going to have significant layoffs. The Seagate page at layoff.com is interesting reading. Projected date is June 29th. Of course, if you’re coming here, most likely you’ve already been to layoff.com.

Sorry, I don’t have any inside news. Perhaps I should call Seagate HR? 😉

Professor: If You Read To Your Kids, You’re ‘Unfairly Disadvantaging’ Others

“I don’t think parents reading their children bedtime stories should constantly have in their minds the way that they are unfairly disadvantaging other people’s children, but I think they should have that thought occasionally,” he said.

Wow, I don’t think a parent should have that thought for a nanosecond. Adam Swift is an idiot.

Trump, the Control_Alt_Delete candidate says Walter Russell Mead – The Meaning of Mr. Trump – The American Interest

Myself, I don’t think the system is quite as corrupt as some Trump supporters believe or, perhaps more accurately, I lack their confidence that burning down the old house is the best way to build something new. But it would be equally wrong and perhaps more dangerous to take the view that there is nothing more fueling his rise than ignorance, racism and hate. The failure of the center-Left to transform its institutional and intellectual dominance into policy achievements that actually stabilize middle class life, and the failure of the center-Right to articulate a workable alternative have left a giant intellectual and political vacuum in the heart of American life. The Trump movement is not an answer to our problems, but the social instinct of revolt and rejection that powers it is a sign of social health. The tailors are frauds and the emperor is not in fact wearing any clothes: it is a good sign and not a bad sign that so many Americans are willing to say so out loud. (emphasis added)

Unfortunately, Mr. Mead doesn’t reach a positive conclusion…

The likeliest forecast is that under either candidate, the slow unraveling of the liberal world order and the American domestic system will continue and possibly accelerate. The 2020 election may take place against an even darker background than what we now see; if America’s intellectuals and institutions don’t start raising their games, 2016 could soon start to look like the good old days.

New, private data will inform Boulder’s plan to separate from Xcel – Boulder Daily Camera

Xcel Energy on Thursday provided Boulder with data about its electric distribution system to which the city has not had access to this point, and that will largely inform how — and whether — Boulder proceeds in its attempt to form a municipal utility. (emphasis added)

I believe “how,” I absolutely don’t believe “whether.”  It’s a done deal, end of story.

Eithics training for DOJ lawyers – Federal Judge in Texas Demands Justice Dept. Lawyers Take Ethics Class

In a blistering order, Judge Andrew S. Hanen of Federal District Court in Brownsville accused the Justice Department lawyers of lying to him during arguments in the case, and he barred them from appearing in his courtroom.

He also demanded that Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch provide a “comprehensive plan” within 60 days describing how she will prevent unethical conduct in the future, as well as making sure the department’s Office of Professional Responsibility effectively prevents misconduct among its lawyers.

He also said that any Justice Department lawyer who wants to appear in a state or federal court in any of the 26 states who filed suit to block Mr. Obama’s executive actions should be required to take an annual three-hour ethics course for the next five years.

I wonder if three hours a year is enough? Well no, I actually don’t.

Can’t distinguish between reality and fantasy – 10 Years Later, Al Gore Says His Film ‘Underestimated’ Global Warming

Former Vice President Al Gore told The Hollywood Reporter his 2006 film “An Inconvenient Truth” actually underestimated how serious global warming would be — despite all the patently false predictions he made in the film. (emphasis added)

Where’s my barf bag.

No doubt the University of Tennessee is still quite proud of honoring Al Gore with an Honorary Doctor of Laws and Humane Letters in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology

Such books exist?  Oregon school board bans books that question climate changeComing soon to a school district near you.

I’m sure this has defacto happened at both Boulder Valley and St. Vrain school districts. For an industry that almost every major prediction has simply been wrong, they sure have the power to squash opposing viewpoints and create a “safe space” out of an entire school district.

My recommendation: Punch back twice as hard. Also, sending the Portland School Board members a copy of Fahrenheit 451 doesn’t sound like a bad idea either.

Oh Canada. Single payer is sooo great! There’s a private clinic, would you like to pay?

Stunning so it must not be true. Since it doesn’t fit the narrative and PJ media certainly “leans right” I’m sure they cherry picked the waiting times and bad results. In fact, in the comments one Canadian citizen has a completely different view…

This video is SOO misleading!! This is not Canadian Healthcare, coming from someone who has had 6 major surgeries in the past 4 years (two reconstructing ACL, Meckel’s Diverticulitum, and couple other surgeries). FIRST clinics are open weekends, they are open 9am – 9pm 7 days a week, in my neighbourhood alone there is 3 medi-clinics within a 2 km radius (not embellishing). You don’t talk to a nurse at all in medi-clinics, its straight to the walk-in doctors. Every medi-clinic has a pharmacy attached. I can literally walk into a media-clinic, talk to the doctor within 20 mins, depending on time of day, and get prescribed the necessary drugs and be out within an hour. Longest I’ve ever waited was close to 2 hours, but we had a pretty big flu epidemic in my city, so the place was packed. You only go to the hospital for major injuries, and yes you may get bumped down if its non life-threatening. If your in a lot of pain, you don’t wait. If you could die, you don’t wait. Now if i was a poor american, i would be buried in health care bills.

I didn’t see any other experiences from other Canadians in the You Tube comments. Certainly it’s not hard to believe that the quality of care can vary significantly from region to region throughout Canada. The VA system in the US is a good analogy.

I’m sure glad I’m on well water as there must be something in Boulder’s water supply – Boulder council supportive of city staff’s aggressive renewable energy goal

At the onset of a City Council study session Tuesday, the room full of Boulder leaders and senior staff members paused to watch a 4-minute video in which children decried climate change and offered charming pleas for action, as B-roll footage of sweeping, green open spaces flashed on the screen.

“These kids are all watching us,” said Brett KenCairn, Boulder’s Senior Environmental Planner. “They’re wondering whether or not and how we’re going to live up to the kind of commitments that they need.”

With a nod to the stars of that video, city staff solicited the council’s feedback on a drafted target of 100 percent renewable energy in Boulder by 2030. The council was highly supportive of the aggressive goal.

“If you don’t try, you don’t know,” said Councilwoman Lisa Morzel, later adding, “This is probably the most urgent issue of our time.”

“I am enthusiastically, unabashedly supportive,” Mayor Suzanne Jones said. “We’ve got to be a part of the solution and we need to stand and be counted with the leaders on this — because we are leaders.”

Added Councilman Sam Weaver: “I think it is a critical step forward.”

It’s a fantasy, a pure and simple fantasy. The psuedo-intellectual elite in Boulder want 100% subsidized green power so they can feel good. And where exactly do the subsidies come from and who guarantees they will continue? I predict if someone doesn’t put the kabash on these idiots, Boulder will have some of the most expensive electricity in the US.

Is the 24 square miles surrounded by reality different than the reality in Europe? Here’s some light reading for Boulder’s feel good psuedo intellectuals: European Renewable Energy performance for 2014 falls far short of claims. Although reading the whole things is recommended, here’s a very short but damning excerpt:

In spite of their being virtually no costs for fuel, Renewable Energy installations can still cost up to 1.5 – 2.5 times as much to operate and maintain as conventional Gas Fired plant.

When the capacity percentages are taken into account, the capital costs can be 15 – 50 times greater than Gas Fired plant.

Let’s not forget the failed predictions of the global warming prophet, Algore. Here is some additional recommended for Boulder City Council:
