Remember when?

You remember hearing about the incendiary rhetoric of liberals from your liberal news outlets don’t you?

One protester even brandished a sign that seemed to advocate Bush’s assassination. The man held a large photo of Bush that had been doctored to show a gun barrel pressed against his temple.

“BUSH: WANTED, DEAD OR ALIVE,” read the placard, which had an X over the word “ALIVE.”

Another poster showed Bush’s face with the words: “F— YOU, MOTHERF—ER!”

A third sign urged motorists to “HONK IF YOU HATE BUSH.” A fourth declared: “CHRISTIAN FASCISM,” with a swastika in place of the letter S in each word.

Although reporters from numerous national news organizations were traveling with Bush and witnessed the protest, none reported that protesters were shrieking at Republican donors epithets like “Slut!” “Whore!” and “Fascists!”

Frank Dulcich, president and CEO of Pacific Seafood Group, had a cup of liquid thrown into his face, and then was surrounded by a group of menacing protesters, including several who wore masks. Donald Tykeson, 75, who had multiple sclerosis and was confined to a wheelchair, was blocked by a thug who threatened him.

Protesters slashed the tires of several state patrol cruisers and leapt onto an occupied police car, slamming the hood and blocking the windshield with placards. A female police officer was knocked to the street by advancing protesters, badly injuring her wrist.

The angry protest grew so violent that the Secret Service was forced to take the highly unusual step of using a backup route for Bush’s motorcade because the primary route had been compromised by protesters, one of whom pounded his fist on the president’s moving limousine.

All the while, angry demonstrators brandished signs with incendiary rhetoric, such as “9/11 – YOU LET IT HAPPEN, SHRUB,” and “BUSH: BASTARD CHILD OF THE SUPREME COURT.” One sign read: “IMPEACH THE COURT-APPOINTED JUNTA AND THE FASCIST, EGOMANIACAL, BLOOD-SWILLING BEAST!”

Yet none of these signs were cited in the national media’s coverage of the event. By contrast, the press focused extensively on over-the-top signs held by Obama critics at the president’s town hall event held Tuesday in New Hampshire.

No? I wonder why? Perhaps you should too.

Boulderites: BOYCOTT Whole Foods

In today’s Wall Street Journal, John Mackay, CEO and co-founder of Whole Foods proposes his alternative to Obamacare. (I’ll provide a link when I find one). His ideas are so against the liberal/progressive ideas that I expect Boulderites to immediately cease ALL shopping activities at Whole Foods. Here are the suggestions from the article:

1. Remove the legal obstacles that slow the creation of high-deductible health insurance plans and health savings accounts (HSA’s).

2. Equalize the tax laws so that employer provided health insurance and individually owned health insurance have the same tax benefits.

3. Repeal all state laws which prevent insurance companies from competing across state lines.

4. Repeal government mandates regarding what insurance companies must cover.

5. Enact tort reform to end ruinous lawsuits that force doctors to pay insurance costs of hundreds of thousands of dollars per year.

6. Make costs transparent so that consumers understand what healthare treatments cost.

7. Enact Medicare reform.

8. Finally, revise tax forms to make it easier for individuals to make a voluntary, tax-deductible donation to help the millions of people who have no insurance and aren’t covered by Medicare , Medicaid or the State Children’s Health Insurance Program.

Mr. Mackay goes on to conclude…

Health care reform is very important. Whatever reforms are enacted it is essential that they be financially responsible, and that we have the freedom to choose doctors and health-care services that best suit our own unique set of lifestyle choices. We are all responsible for our own lives and our own health. We should take that responsibility very seriously and use our freedom to make wise lifestyle choices that will protect our health. Doing so will enrich our lives and will help create a vibrant and sustainable American society.

Can Boulderites continue to support Whole Foods when the CEO of their favorite store is against Obamacare and for personal responsibility!??

4 Months… LMAO

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon tells us that armegeddon is at our door step

We have just four months. Four months to secure the future of our planet.

Another crisis tailor made for Obama and his crusaders. For the non-believers, Dorothy Rabinowitz of the Wall Street Journal explains the thought process of his loyal devotees

Crusades are busy endeavors, the enlistees in this one, like those in every undertaking of this White House, concerned with just one message. Which is that the Obama administration is in possession of vital answers to ills and inequities that have long afflicted American society (whether Americans know it or not), and that those opposed to those answers and that vision are cynics, or operatives of the powerful vested interests responsible for the plight Americans find themselves in (whether they know it or not), or political enemies bent on destroying the Obama administration.

Congress hasn’t even passed Cap and Trade I, but it’s already out of date and it’s time for version 2.

OH, I almost forgot, in fact I did, someone should tell the 60 misguided German scientists. Psuedo religion and crusades. Sorta sounds like they should go together???

We will find out….

Judging from the actions of Nancy Pelosi and many comments I read from the liberal and progressive end of the political spectrum, they are in full agreement with Sen. Arlen Specter

Sen. Arlen Specter said Wednesday he thinks people who have been angrily disrupting town hall meetings on overhauling the health care system are “not necessarily representative of America,” but should be heard.

Perhaps he’s right, but one thing I know for sure is that we will see. I certainly disagree with the astro-turing concept. Time and time again what I see are people that are new to political activism that have legitimate concerns and are very concerned about how we are going to pay for this, potential rationing and losing their doctors and the jam job of the government attempting to hurridly pass legislation with little debate to take over 1/6th of the economy.

Yes, yes I see the yelling and the screaming, it has happened before, I’m sure you were watching then? What did you think and say then?

The key word is “necessarily” and we’ll find out won’t we?

Un-American right here

Sign me up folks, if being against the health care jam-job the Democrats tried and are trying to pull makes me un-American, SIGN ME UP.

These disruptions are occurring because opponents are afraid not just of differing views — but of the facts themselves. Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American. Drowning out the facts is how we failed at this task for decades.

You know, she has a point, but I have two questions (ok, technically it’s three) for Ms. Pelosi and her followers:

1. Where were you in the Bush years? Why didn’t any of these actions illicit a response from you?

2. Why were and are you in such a hurry?

Best I can tell many citizens are agitated because the whole health care bill is a “jam-job” based on a crisis mentality. Not to mention that John Conyers, and I assume many many others, can’t be troubled to read the bill.

“What good is reading the bill if it’s a thousand pages and you don’t have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you read the bill?”

Does there need to be health care reform. No doubt. The blind hatred of the insurance companies expressed by the Democratic leadership is not a good way to address the issue.

I believe this bill needs to be stopped and the Democrats should eat a little, oh hell a lot would suit me fine, “humble pie” and come back and try again. There is a solution and perhaps the Democrats are on the right track, although I seriously doubt it, but acting like you don’t need to listen to 50% of the brainwashed constituents is not the way bring around lasting health care reform.

Also, after our budgetary experience with Social Security and Medicare, not to mention the experiences of other industrialized countries, how anyone believe Obamacare won’t blow the budget to total destruction boggles my mind. To believe that, it seems you must believe that all the government has to do is “print money” and everything will work out fine.

Group think inside the 25 square miles

Daily Camera blogger R C Lloyd is an excellent example of the Mob mentality group think inside Boulder.

Let these same malcontents and (possibly) paid mouthpieces address the 47 million (and growing) people without healthcare coverage. In that audience of 47 million versus 20-30 miscreants their bellicose voices primarily offering noise becomes nothing more than a meaningless ripple on waters of the Potomac.

RC will never believe it’s ordinary people who are upset with the President. It’s laughable that the GOP could suddently organize these protests. One thing for sure, the 2010 elections are going to be much more interesting than what I belived only a few months ago.

Me, I’d sure like to see some libertarians (probably more with a small ‘l’ instead of a large one ‘L’) get some traction.

VA and Obamacare

Another gem from Darren. How much will these two programs have in common?

If the VA is any indicator of what a nationalized healthcare would be like, perhaps it would be good to have those who have never dealt with the VA try it out for a year and then decide if they truly like the idea of nationalized healthcare.

Perhaps.

Can 60 German scientists possibly be wrong?

Darren over at Right on the Left Coast found this gem on global warming

More than 60 prominent German scientists have publicly declared their dissent from man-made global warming fears…

I particularly like this statement…

The scientists declared that global warming has become a “pseudo religion” and they noted that rising CO2 has “had no measurable effect” on temperatures.

Mob Rule

The DNC accuses the right wing extremist Republican base of trying to stop health care reform.

I sure hope the DNC tested which way the wind is blowing before they put this video out for public consumption. It’s my belief that the spectrum of people against government run health care is much wider than the “right wing extremist” Republican base, whatever that is.

Here’s a reminder of what Mob Rule looks like. Oh, I guess that’s what “left wing” mob rule looks like. 😉

It’s my perception that this DNC ad will backfire big time. Of course, what do I know? I guess I’m a “right wing” Republican, although I’m not a Republican (technically I’m non-affiliated), attend Church on special occasions, haven’t donated any money to the RNC or the Republican party or individual candidates, sent Bob Dole a mean e-mail once, voted the Libertarian ticket for Boulder County commissioner last year (or whenver it was) and have never been to a tea party or a health care town hall meeting. Still if I’m against government run health care, I must be a right wing extremist, right? Right… especially in the 25 square miles surrounded by reality.

And yes, I would like to attend a tea party or a town hall meeting and hopefully I’ll get the chance.

Update from the Hannity show. Here’s a video of an interview of Michelle Malkin…

I particularly like this exchange beginning at around 4 minutes….

Hannity:
….but now they are directly attacking the American people. Strategically it doesn’t seem like a wise thing to me, what do you think the fallout will be?

Malkin:
I think there’s going to be a huge backlash, and that’s because they miss understand the roots of this movement, it is not something directed from the top down, the Republicans can only wish that they could have been so competent to have seen this coming. Nobody saw it coming except the people on the ground, people on the internet, people on the blogosphere. Of course Fox news was treating the tea party movement with respect while others were denigrating them and using vulgar language to talk about their role as participants in democracy. These people, I know, I’ve been to many of the tea parties, many of them are independent, many of them are as disgusted with Republicans who’ve betrayed their principals as they are with Democrats and they want what Obama promised but failed to deliver; transparency, ethics, fiscal responsibility and personal responsibility. And if Robert Gibbs and Rahm Emanuel and the entire Chicago machine think it’s going to do them well in 2010 and 2012 to keep smearing and libeling these people go ahead and keep on producing those kind of ads.

(bold is mine)

I agree with every word Michelle had to say in the above exchange. Then to ad fuel to the fire we have Pelosi commenting about whether the protesters are a true grass roots organization…

They’re carrying swastikas and symbols like that to a town meeting on health care.

For all I know that happened somewhere, there are always looneytunes on either side when emotions get high. That said, for the Speaker of the House of the United States of America to draw a generalization such as this is nothing short of disgraceful.

Fiscal responsibility?

The Obama administration wants an additional $2 billion for the “Cash for Clunkers” program, but can’t provide any accounting of how the first $1 billion was spent.

The Obama administration is refusing to quickly release government records on its “cash-for-clunkers” rebate program that would substantiate — or undercut — White House claims of the program’s success, even as the president presses the Senate for a quick vote for $2 billion to boost car sales.

I also find it troubling that the “clunkers” must be destroyed. You want these yahoo’s running health care. Got it.

added 8/4/2009 @ apx 22:00.
Ed Morrissey comments and concludes…

Obama wants billions of dollars more in taxpayer subsidies for clunkers. Taxpayers have a right to know how their money already got spent in this program. Indeed, that data belongs to the public, and we certainly should review it before Obama spends billions of dollars more on it. That’s what transparency is all about.

And if Obama stonewalls on how money gets spent on Cash for Clunkers, imagine how he’ll react to demands for the records on ObamaCare.

Yea, imagine. It’s frightening.

Eventually the government will have to print money

When no one’s left to tax and they have bills to pay, who ya gonna call?

More on higher taxes over at Powerline (where I “stole” the above graph).

That is simply ridiculous. It is questionable whether democracy can survive in a situation where a tiny minority is paying the bills for just about everyone else.
