Jack of all trades master of none…

That would be Obama of course. Put on the brakes Mr. President!

It is not just Republicans who are voicing concern with the frantic pace with which this President is seeking to govern, it is the Democrats as well. Democrats of all stripes are worried that the President’s agenda is “sucking the oxygen out” of their own legislative efforts while moderate, “blue dog” Democrats are concerned that if they continue to be pressured by the overly aggressive White House to vote for drastic change their stay in Washington DC will be cut short by the 2010 midterm elections. Those elections are speedily approaching and due in part to the actions of the administration will likely result in Republicans gaining significant ground in both houses of Congress.

The reason for these significant miscalculations is a word that Senator McCain repeated time and time again last fall: experience. Executive experience which this president lacks. President Obama is learning on the job and it shows.

(bold and coloring is mine)

The Democrats don’t need to necessarily be replaced by Republican’s, I’d be happy for Independents (whatever they are) and Libertarians. It’s not exactly like the Republican’s have much to hang their hat on. Liberals and Progressives believe that the Tea Party is a Republican vehicle. While certainly they have the opportunity to benefit from the movement, if you have actually followed the movement it is not particularly in favor of “government as usual” from either party.

The conclusion is good advice, here’s hoping that the Obama administration doesn’t read it or is to arrogant to take the advice. I don’t think I will need to “hope” very hard.

Stand up against lobbyists

In a Daily Camera letter to the editor, writer Sheri Hay from Erie is concerned that we don’t stand up against lobbyists. Here’s one paragraph…

We have become complacent citizens and are no longer constructively engaged in our own government. This indolence allows easy work for corporations to influence “Our Representatives” for the corporations` benefit. Companies do not make significant investments without the intent for a significant return on that investment. OpenSecrets.org is an excellent Web site that tracks the funds politicians receive and I encourage everyone to monitor it regularly.

(bold is mine).

Obviously Sheri hasn’t heard of the Tea Party movement. Perhaps she gets all her news from teh Daily Camera? Inquiring minds want to know.

A small win for ACORN

I find ACORN employee Tresa Kaelke’s story believeable, it even crossed my mind for a second.

“While her sense of humor might not be funny to many people, the fact is that she spun false scenario after false scenario and the videographer ate them up,” ACORN said in a statement Wednesday decrying the videographers, whose work was picked up by Fox News Channel and broadcast stations, as well as by blogs and newspapers across the country. “ACORN challenges Fox to show the complete, unedited versions of all of these inflammatory videos and allow the American people see the ‘truth,’ the ‘whole truth.’ ” ACORN also suspended intake operations nationwide on Wednesday and said it would retrain frontline staff over the next 48 hours.

Turn off the money spigot to ACORN

If you don’t like it tell your Congressman. Of course, locals who use the Daily Camera for their news have no idea what the commotion is all about regarding this corrupt organization. Heck, if you depend on the “legacy media” for your news, it’s only now getting covered. From Powerline….

UPDATE: We probably should mention that in this brief excerpt, the ACORN employee offers advice on the best way to smuggle 13-year-old girls into the United States to serve as sex slaves. For this, ACORN has received tens of millions of dollars in federal aid, plus much more from many states. Under current legislation, some say ACORN could stand to get billions. Of our tax dollars. This would seem to be the ultimate test of whether our political system is so hopelessly corrupt that anyone–absolutely anyone, however useless and criminal–can sign up to steal your money, via the federal government. Right now, the spigot is open, and ACORN is getting your money. If you don’t like that, tell your Congressman.

Yea, what he said.

Internet privacy and the White House

You can’t make this stuff up.

The White House is collecting and storing comments and videos placed on its social-networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube without notifying or asking the consent of the site users, a failure that appears to run counter to President Obama’s promise of a transparent government and his pledge to protect privacy on the Internet, the Washington Times reported.

Marc Rotenberg, president of the Electronic Privacy Information Center, said the White House signaled that it would insist on open dealings with Internet users and, in fact, should feel obliged to disclose that it is collecting such information.

“The White House has not been adequately transparent, particularly on how it makes use of new social media techniques, such as this example,” he said.

Who exactly do these guys work for? Oh, no need to worry, it’s on FOX news, well not quite, originally from the Washington Times.

Democrats rule: 20 off limit stories

Frank Warner, how labels himself “one of the last real liberals” presents 20 stories that the (used to be) main stream media won’t report on while Democrats are in power…

* The failure of Congress leaders to pay their taxes.

* Congress leaders accepting illegal campaign contributions.

* White House pressuring scientists to exaggerate global warming findings.

* White House claiming health care costs are going down when they are going up.

* White House claiming the deficit is not increasing when it is.

* The FBI wiretapping of Americans for purely political reasons.

* The firing of federal inspector generals for purely political reasons.

* The firing of U.S. attorneys for purely political reasons.

* The distorting of NSA, CIA, FBI or Homeland Security intelligence to serve a predetermined conclusion.

* The abuse of detainees by U.S. soldiers and contractors (unless Congress decides to surrender Afghanistan).

* Congress leaders accepting kickbacks from General Motors or Chrysler officials in exchange for laws giving GM or Chrysler an unfair advantage over other automakers.

* The continued paying of Congress leaders by officials of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in exchange for favorable regulations.

* The refusal by the Justice Department to prosecute Democrats who discourage non-Democrats from voting.

* The refusal by the Justice Department to prosecute Democrats who encourage voting by dead, fictitious or otherwise unqualified people.

* Subjecting Soldiers, Marines, Airmen and Sailors to poor health care at military hospitals.

* The failure of “stimulus” spending to create the jobs the administration projected.

* New health care regulations discouraging the number of breakthroughs in drugs and medical procedures.

* The relaxing of banking regulations after the White House and Congress promised tighter banking regulations.

* The failure of alternative energy sources to reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

* A Democratic burglary of a Republican campaign headquarters.

I believe the MSM would report on poor health care at military hosptials and detainee abuse, otherwise I believe he’s spot on. No wonder there’s such a big market for FOX news. Liberals and Progressive news outlets, you only have yourselves to blame. Of course I’m not talking to you because you’re too blind to see.

ACORN… good grief

Unbelievable!

Yesterday the Senate voted to strip funding from ACORN. Pay careful attention to the 7, yes SEVEN, Senators that did not support the bill. I bet they wish they could revote after the release of this video today.

Here are the seven Senators….

Burris (D) from Illinois;
Casey (D) from Pennsylvania;
Durbin (D) from Illinois;
Gillibrand (D) from New York;
Leahy (D) from Vermont;
Sanders (I) from Vermont; and
Whitehouse (D) from Rhode Island.

What do ABC news and the Daily Camera have in common?

They apparently aren’t aware of what’s been going on with ACORN. You can hear Charlie Gibson express his ignorance:

I have no idea if the Camera editors are ignorant or don’t deem it newsworthy of coverage.

Talk about overexposure

Obama Plans Back-to-Back TV Interviews Sunday

It’s going to be awfully hard to avoid President Obama on television this Sunday.

The president is going to appear on five Sunday talk shows – five – to press his case for health care, White House officials disclosed. That is a presidential record.

Mr. Obama is going to appear on This Week with George Stephanopoulos on ABC. And Meet the Press on NBC. And Face the Nation on CBS. In between, he is going to sit down for interviews on CNN and Univision. (Fox News didn’t make the cut).

Thank goodness I go to ecocycle and the bookstore on Sunday mornings.

Added 9/15/09 @ 22:34pm.

Keep on doing what your doing Mr. Obama!

Can you hear us now?

From a commentor to this Reason.com Tea Party article….

Thom Moses | September 13, 2009, 9:12am | #

I was there. We were told to meet around 8am freedom plaza. By 9:15 we managed through the metro and had to wait in line as the doors opened on the subway car. It was one continous steam of happy “angry mobsters”. I’ve never seen so may people waitng in crowded lines so polite and happy. Up the stairs and out into the Pennsylvania Ave. Just people packed all the way to the Capital Stairs. The big message….Can you hear us now!….

Commenting on the make up of the Tea Party crowd, author Nick Gillespie describes…

First, the crowd was truly huge. Second, the crowd was from all over the place (both geographically and ideologically). And third, the crowd, well-behaved and stunningly normal in the main, was genuinely pissed off at out of control spending and government policies. “Stop spending,” was the basic answer to any questions about what Congress and the president should do come tomorrow. Throw the bums of either party out come next fall was the second most-common answer.

Boulderites, are you starting to see the light? Didn’t think so.

Inquiring minds want to know

Tax evasion ACORN.

One incident may have been a fluke, and two a coincidence, but three times makes a pattern. These aren’t offices in the sticks, either, but offices in some of the most important American cities. Does ACORN train its people on how to screw the American people on income taxes while getting federal funds, or just look to hire the most heartless people in the world to help pimps hide child prostitution rings?

(Bold is my responsibility)

How big was the crowd?

Boulderites, that would be the Washington D.C. Tea Party. The article speculates as to the true number, but I like this comment from 9/13 @ 10:40pm….

I was there, and I have the pictures to prove it. There was no hate, there was no unrest, there were no politics of personal destruction, there WAS politics of POLICY destruction. Every one was peaceful, enthusiastic and respectful. It was a BEAUTIFUL DAY. If the press, if the libs (same thing) want to ignore it, belittle it, OK with me. We know we were there, we know it was important and we know we are not giving up. Deal.

Willie on September 13, 2009 at 10:40 PM

More on the crowd and their signs.

There were many, many signs, and I’d say that 95% + were hand made. The slogans ran the gamut, but most were on the general theme of spending and government intervention is out of control, we can’t afford it, we’re scared by where Obama is trying to take the country, and the like. Certainly, there were also signs against abortion, for gun ownership, and assorted signs about support for the military (we didn’t fight WW2 for “socialism”), but the proportion on the issue of big government out of control was very high, on the order of 90% or close to it I’d venture.

It was interesting talking with the wide variety of people there. Quite a few came as part of groups, but we encountered more who had come on their own — driving from California or Michigan or Texas, not to mention closer by. There were no production line signs or masses of folks in identical tee shirts. And we found that the people we met were generally well educated and articulate, and they had been paying attention to the issues.

Once again bold is my responsibility.

This isn’t the image the typical Boulder liberal/progressive has of the Tea Party movement. Much of that simply has to do with the liberal tendencies of the City itself but the local paper makes no effort challenge the misconceptions. Wonder why?

Bad News Reporting

Powerline takes on the liberal/MSM media regarding the huge blinds spots they have when it comes to reporting on ACORN and Van Jones. The introduction states…

You can’t be in the business world for long without being impressed by how hard companies work to be good at what they do. And yet, here and there, there are exceptions. In recent years, the liberal news media–what used to be known as the “mainstream” media–have been in that category. Time after time, with mind-numbing regularity, they miss news that would be of interest to their readers. Of course, the stories they miss are not random–they are stories that make the Democratic Party, or liberal politicians or organizations, look bad.

(bold is mine)
I’ve previously lamented about the pathetic ACORN coverage in the Daily Camera. This evening I updated my reserach using the Yahoo search engine on the Camera web site. Searching on ‘Van Jones’ and ‘ACORN’ I basically came up empty handed. What a surprise.

The Daily Camera and their editors might pay heed to the conclusion of the Powerline article.

Hopefully ACORNS’s gravy train from HUD can be shut down too. Still, I’ve got this strange feeling that ACORN has many more lives than a cat.
