Health care bill common sense

From Senate Health Finance committee Democrat Thomas Carper…

Carper described the type of language the actual text of the bill would finally be drafted in as “arcane,” “confusing,” “hard stuff to understand,” and “incomprehensible.” He likened it to the “gibberish” used in credit card disclosure forms.

Ah, sometimes truth IS better than fiction.

Raise your hand…

Raise your hand if you think we can trust Iran’s promises

So both Obama and Ahmadinejad got what they wanted yesterday. Representatives could sit down together with representatives from the Security Council countries plus Germany and then get up and claim that they had a breakthrough agreement.

What say Boulderites?

Boulder should adopt Garrison Keillor

“Thirty-two percent of the population identifies with the GOP, and if we cut off health care to them, we could probably pay off the deficit in short order.”

I don’t believe Garrison would stand out in the least among Boulder progressives. Little doubt his thoughts would be welcomed with open arms.

Beam me up….

Stop babysitting neighbors kids

Each day before the school bus comes to pick up the neighborhood’s children, Lisa Snyder did a favor for three of her fellow moms, welcoming their children into her home for about an hour before they left for school.

Regulators who oversee child care, however, don’t see it as charity. Days after the start of the new school year, Snyder received a letter from the Michigan Department of Human Services warning her that if she continued, she’d be violating a law aimed at the operators of unlicensed day care centers.

Talk about the death of common sense. Beam me up. Better yet, I’ll stay and the Michigan Department of Human Services needs to be “beamed up” to another galaxy. Sounds like something the Boulder County Commissioners would do.

No posting

My 84 year old mother had emergency surgery and had her spleen and gall bladder removed. Recovery is going as well as can be expected and blogging should resume sometime later this week.

Overexposure II

Long since passed.

“He’s turning the presidency into an infomercial,” warned former White House speechwriter Matt Latimer. “It’s not just damaging to the White House. It will also ultimately hurt President Obama’s image as a fresh, non-Washington leader.”

Signs and Stimulus

Ahhh, to be a sign maker near stimulus projects!

There are stimulus signs in all three directions for the work to fix the dangerous situation at the intersection of North Broadway and Hwy 36.

Of course the simple question is why it took so long to address this dangerous situation. I can only imagine that there are no elected officials that travel through that intersection on a regular basis. The loser government officials we have obviously felt it was better to spend money on saving and relocating Prairie Dogs than fixing the intersection. Perhaps if the the project required claiming someones property through eminent domain they would have done it sooner.

Shutting down offices

ACORN that is.

Busted

Media matters that is.

They make the following claim…

Fox News’ Glenn Beck recently aired a video indicating that an ACORN employee shot and killed her husband, without first bothering to verify whether the husband is, in fact, dead. He isn’t. The video is, in other words, a fraud. But that didn’t stop Beck from calling it evidence of “murder” and perhaps even “premeditated murder.” Of a person who is still alive.

What is the mindset of people who think they can get away with such editing?

Opposition to Obamacare increases

Accoring to Rasmussen, it has reached a new high of 56% of likely voters.

Fifty-six percent (56%) of voters nationwide now oppose the health care reform proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats. That’s the highest level of opposition yet measured and includes 44% who are Strongly Opposed.

More good news.

The ACORN 75

Let me remind you once again that would include Jared Polis and Diana DeGette.

The Wall Street Journal describes the political leanings of the ACORN 75. They conclude…

The House vote came a day after the release of the latest video by freelance investigators James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles, who crisscrossed the country posing as a pimp and prostitute. Employees in at least five different Acorn offices offered them help in setting up a child-prostitution business. If that isn’t enough to persuade 75 Democrats to stop supporting Acorn with taxpayer money, one can only conclude that the only way they’d defund the outfit is if it endorsed the war in Iraq or Afghanistan.

(as usual the bold and coloring are mine).

That said, I believe Polis and DeGette know their constituents.

Democrats abandon ACORN

A few weeks ago who would have thought that the Democrats would abandon ACORN in droves?

It was an absolutely mind-blowing turn of events, a total collapse of longtime Democratic support for ACORN. Republicans had worked for years to reduce ACORN’s influence, with little success. Now, in the span of a few days, the GOP scored major victories.

Everybody knows why. None of this would have happened had it not been for undercover videos, released on the new Web site BigGovernment, which caught ACORN employees in Baltimore, Washington, New York City and California in the act of encouraging tax fraud and prostitution, including prostitution involving underage girls. The videos, which were ignored by most big media organizations other than Fox News, had a huge effect on Capitol Hill.

Unfortunately, the abandonment of ACORN does not include a few of Colorado’s Congressional Representatives. The guilty parties are Jared Polis and Diana DeGette.
