Aiming at a very narrow slice of the market

Audi that is.

I suspect, though, that Audi was aiming at a very narrow slice of the market — those people who can afford to buy an Audi and who want to achieve the sanctimony of the driver at the end. In that sense, it’s entirely successful. Bear in mind that it’s that narrow market that wants to impose the Green Police solution on the rest of us.

Here’s a Coloradoan (actually a Longmont residence who should be living in Boulder by the sounds of it), Hunter Livens telling us what a beautiful world it will be when the green thought police take over.

Speaking of a beautiful world

Needless to say, I can’t wait.

Census

Michelle takes on the reckless census spending.

A website called MyTwoCensus.com keeps track of various census idiocy including Michael Steel and the RNC’s idiotic fundraising mailer that imitates a census form.

MyTwoCensus.com feels that Michael Steele and the National GOP’s use of a mailer (click here to see a PDF version of what was sent to millions of households) that tries to emulate a 2010 Census form is immoral, unethical, and potentially illegal. And it will come back to bite the GOP in their own butts.

I agree and Erika Stutzman at the Daily Camera also took a deserved swipe at the RNC.

Here’s the pdf of the RNC mailer.

Good thing they call it climate change

Record storm for Washington DC.

The global warming crowd really needs to get a new (cheer)leader.

Climate change skeptics “are people who deny the link between smoking and cancer; they are people who say that asbestos is as good as talcum powder,” he said.

“I hope that they apply it (asbestos) to their faces every day.”

Beyond pathetic. Pachauri would probably get a parade if he came to Boulder.

Unbelievable… well it should be, the problem is it’s ALL TOO believable.

Memo to Louisiana Senator Mary Landrieu. If you can’t take the heat get out of the kitchen. Hint… sooner is good.

Democrats, liberals and Socialism

Gallup: Majority of Dems View Socialism Positively

The Gallup Poll reports that a majority of Democrats, 53%, have a “positive” image of socialism, which includes independents who lean toward the blue party.

I shudder to think what the numbers would be if the “People’s Republic” were polled.

Bad science and where is the legacy media?

Naturally, we’re talking climategate, glaciergate and just general global warming. Of course you wouldn’t know it if you depended on the U.S. legacy media. Nice summary from the linked article which concludes…

Bad science done using bad data to start with is a recipe for disaster. Or, perhaps more to the point, is a recipe for being able to manipulate public opinion. The scientific method is a way of discovering observable truths about the world around us. To use it as a propaganda machine is shameful and the mainstream media’s silence on the story is doubly so.

(emphasis added – ed)

Perhaps the legacy media could justify being silent if they hadn’t been such cheerleaders earlier. Now they’re just trying to avoid embarrassment and praying a lightening bolt will strike and there will be collective amnesia regarding the slew reports of documenting what passes for global warming research.

P.S. Legacy media, check out the UK Times to bring yourself up to date.

Added 2/1 @ 10:27a. The Chinese weigh in.

Xing then cites the recent revelations of significant problems in the IPCC work. These include how “some scientists had favored data which supports the case for ‘global warming’ in order to enhance their grant proposals,” the announcement that an IPCC claim of total glacier melt in the Himalayas by 2035 was based on “sheer speculation” — not peer-reviewed scientific work, and revelation that the IPCC had misrepresented an unpublished report linking climate change with an increase in natural disasters even when the report’s author, Dr Robert Muir-Wood, a researcher in risk management not climatology, had explicitly stated the opposite.

At this point it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure this out. When is the legacy media in the USA going to start reporting on this sloppy science? It is news, it should be reported. What are you trying to hide or protect? What is your agenda? Don’t tell me you don’t have one, you’re way past late to this party. There are only two excuses:

  1. Your ignorant and want to stay that way.
  2. You have an agenda

Neither choice is pretty.

Longmont trying to become more like Boulder

Longmont looks to add red-light cameras.

It’s all about the money and perhaps you can throw in a little bit of power.

Amateur hour (day, year, decade?) at IPCC

The International Panal on Climate Change is turning out to be an international joke and embarrassment. Let’s see bogus claims based on non peer reviewed amateurish research include:

  • Global warming might wipe out 40% of the Amazon rainforest
  • Climate change was likely to melt the Himalayan glaciers by 2035
  • Climate change may be increasing the severity of and frequency of natural disasters

I wonder if local Boulder scientists (here and here) are still standing behind the IPCC?

Longmont and speed cameras

Looks like they are seriously considering them. It’s all about the money. I have trouble with sentence in the linked article…

In the city of Boulder, cameras have significantly reduced red-light violations and crashes at intersections where the systems have been implemented, Bell said.

At least it’s attributed to the Longmont police Sergeant. That doesn’t make it a statement of fact and I wouldn’t trust the Boulder Police department or City council either. I’d like the accident records examined by an independent agency, consultants that are from Denver or fu

I’m still waiting to see the debate on C-span.

Seems to me Obama should have been more involved in creating the bill instead of leaving it to Pelosi and Reed.

Legacy Media quick to the draw

Too quick.

It has been amazing to witness the journalistic malpractice committed by many of the organizations covering this story. MSNBC falsely claimed that I violated a non-existent “gag order.” The Associated Press incorrectly reported that I “broke in” to an office which is open to the public. The Washington Post has now had to print corrections in two stories on me. And these are just a few examples of inaccurate and false reporting. The public will judge whether reporters who can’t get their facts straight have the credibility to question my integrity as a journalist.

I sure wish I could find the Daily Camera editorial authored by Clay Evans telling us how great the legacy media is if you want real news.

Foreign corporations spend unlimited money on U.S. elections?

Think again. Well Obama and his advisors need to think to begin with.

This is either blithering ignorance of the law, or demogoguery of the worst kind.

Take your pick. Neither reflects well on the President.

Obama calls for bipartisanship

Powerline analyzes the SOTU. On bipartisanship..

Obama claimed to be “speaking to both parties.” But his message to Democrats was “don’t run for the hills” (i.e., follow me) while his message to Republicans was don’t obstruct me. It’s difficult to believe that independents were impressed by this odd version of bipartisanship.

Fairly level headed analysis (IMHO) of the rest of the speech as well. The Supreme Court comments seemed destined to cause a stir.
