AP-GfK Poll: More than half say Obama should lose

On health care reform…

The poll found unpopularity for last year’s health care reform bill, one of Obama’s major accomplishments. About half of the respondents oppose the health care law and support for it dipped to 29 percent from 36 percent in June. Just 15 percent said the federal government should have the power to require all Americans to buy health insurance.

Of course, Obamacare doesn’t work if everyone doesn’t buy health insurance.

It boggles my mind how many people can suspend reality and believe that nothing bad will ever happen to them. In the period of slightly more than a year my daughter developed ulcerative colitus (an autoimmune disease where the body attacks the colon), went through the complete range of treatments and ended up having her colon removed. Even with that, the 9cm of colon remaining still has colitus and she is back on remicade infusion treatment, which at Children’s Hospital is $9000 a pop after insurance discounts. Fortunately, this time she is responding much better to treatment then before.

I would like to personally thank my evil private insurance company for paying out over $200,000 and more likely $300,000 over the last 13 months for the various treatments, hospital stays and surgeries she has had. ’nuff said.

Culture of Entitlement

Through the eyes of a Walmart cashier.

…I’m not against temporary aid helping those who truly need it. What I saw at Wal-Mart, however, was not temporary aid. I witnessed generations of families all relying on the state to buy food and other items….

This would describe my aunts family. Where’s the reset button?

American’s love big government

Earth to Boulderites… NOT!

An overwhelming 64 percent of people surveyed said big government was the biggest threat to the country, compared to just 26 percent who said big business is their gravest concern and 8 percent who picked big labor

Boulder is OUT OF TOUCH with reality. What a surprise. That 24 square miles surrounded by reality creates one helluva echo chamber.

“It was not our intention to create an image resembling the attacks,” the designers insist, “nor did we see the resemblance during the design process.”

The Dutch designers must think the American public is as stoopid as Eric Holder thinks we are.

In other words, we’re pretty damn stoopid.

Holder Suggests ‘Fast and Furious’ Guns Will Be Used in Crimes for ‘Years to Come’

Is Eric Holder genius material or what?

… and it gets better

Holder, in testimony on Capitol Hill that comes as the congressional investigation into the program expands, decried the “gun-walking” tactic used in the operation as “inexcusable” and “wholly unacceptable.” But a day after an influential senator called for the resignation of one of Holder’s top deputies over the scandal, Holder denied department leaders played any role in the crafting of “Fast and Furious.”

So what? If you did, you should resign. If you didn’t you should resign because you and your deputies ARE IN CHARGE.

Take some reponsibility. How hard is that? Apparenty VERY.

Pathetic.

Holder: “Nobody at the DOJ has lied”

How stoopid does he think we are?

Yes and more. Comments make for interesting reading.

I wonder if arrogrant crap like this has anything to do with the Democrats losing registered voters (yes I know the Republican’s are losing too, just not as much).

EPA: Throttle back – H.R. 1633

Nice to see our elected legislatures pass some useful legislation.

The Farm Dust Regulation Prevention Act, H.R. 1633, which would prevent the EPA from issuing any new rule over the next year that regulates coarse particulate matter, or “nuisance dust,” passed in a 268-150 vote.

Like other environmental bills the GOP has brought forward this year, the bill enjoyed some support from Democrats: 33 voted along with Republicans in favor of the bill.

Common sense rules the day. Just wish it wasn’t a noteworthy occurrence.

Alec Baldwin: Spoiled brat

Alec Baldwin thrown off AA flight at LAX for ‘playing game’ on phone

Passenger Steve Weiss, who was sitting across the isle from Baldwin, described the scene.

“Apparently he said he was playing a game, but he was actually talking on the phone. She [the flight attendant] was very nice. The door was closed they just announced that they were pulling away from the gate. He got up threw his papers on the floor stormed into the bathroom slammed the door closed, beat on the wall and then came back.”

“He said ‘If you want to kick me off, kick me off.’ He was just crazy, he just flipped out, the guy has problems.”

Welcome to the real world Alec. You’re a spoiled brat, which looks like you will remain for the rest of your life. I know it’s hard to believe, but YOU ARE NOT THAT SPECIAL. I’d say “grow up and get over it” but I might as well talk to the wall.

“…Dec. 7 only happened on one day in 1941.”’

December 7th, 1941 – 70 years ago today

This will be the last reunion…

But no more. The 70th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack will be the last one marked by the survivors’ association….

“We had no choice,” said William H. Eckel, 89….

“We just ran out of gas, that’s what it amounted to,” [said Harry R. Kerr.] “We felt we ran a good course for 70 years. Fought a good fight. We have no place to recruit people anymore: Dec. 7 only happened on one day in 1941.”

Thank you.

BUDGET CUT!

Posted in BUDGET CUT | Leave a comment

Yes, all we need to free ourselves from the last 5 Year Plan is another 5 Year Plan. Not.

Why “too big to fail” means “wait for it”

Thus every bailout and rescue made in the name of preventing the demise of something deemed “too big to fail” builds up a head of steam until the point is reached when the system can no longer contain the pressure. Then the volatility goes from a seeming zero to an extremely high number. The Black Swan will have arrived. And it always will for as long as fiction is substituted for fact, failure is relentlessly reinforced and false assurances are given all around. In Auden’s words “The lights must never go out, the music must always play … lest we should see where we are, lost in a haunted wood, children afraid of the night who have never been happy or good.” The antidote, Taleb argues, is information. To price risk into the present rather than hide it to fester unseen beneath the surface.

Oh, this problem is much bigger than South Carolina

COLUMBIA Many South Carolina public colleges and universities are excessively expensive and have strayed too far from their core mission: educating students, according to a recent study by a Columbia-based think tank.

Tuition is rising faster than household income in South Carolina, says the study of eight colleges and universities by the S.C. Policy Council, a public policy research and education foundation that advocates for more limited government.
