I’m sure glad I’m on well water as there must be something in Boulder’s water supply – Boulder council supportive of city staff’s aggressive renewable energy goal

At the onset of a City Council study session Tuesday, the room full of Boulder leaders and senior staff members paused to watch a 4-minute video in which children decried climate change and offered charming pleas for action, as B-roll footage of sweeping, green open spaces flashed on the screen.

“These kids are all watching us,” said Brett KenCairn, Boulder’s Senior Environmental Planner. “They’re wondering whether or not and how we’re going to live up to the kind of commitments that they need.”

With a nod to the stars of that video, city staff solicited the council’s feedback on a drafted target of 100 percent renewable energy in Boulder by 2030. The council was highly supportive of the aggressive goal.

“If you don’t try, you don’t know,” said Councilwoman Lisa Morzel, later adding, “This is probably the most urgent issue of our time.”

“I am enthusiastically, unabashedly supportive,” Mayor Suzanne Jones said. “We’ve got to be a part of the solution and we need to stand and be counted with the leaders on this — because we are leaders.”

Added Councilman Sam Weaver: “I think it is a critical step forward.”

It’s a fantasy, a pure and simple fantasy. The psuedo-intellectual elite in Boulder want 100% subsidized green power so they can feel good. And where exactly do the subsidies come from and who guarantees they will continue? I predict if someone doesn’t put the kabash on these idiots, Boulder will have some of the most expensive electricity in the US.

Is the 24 square miles surrounded by reality different than the reality in Europe? Here’s some light reading for Boulder’s feel good psuedo intellectuals: European Renewable Energy performance for 2014 falls far short of claims. Although reading the whole things is recommended, here’s a very short but damning excerpt:

In spite of their being virtually no costs for fuel, Renewable Energy installations can still cost up to 1.5 – 2.5 times as much to operate and maintain as conventional Gas Fired plant.

When the capacity percentages are taken into account, the capital costs can be 15 – 50 times greater than Gas Fired plant.

Let’s not forget the failed predictions of the global warming prophet, Algore. Here is some additional recommended for Boulder City Council:
