The spike in business beginning on the 3rd of each month is truly astounding. By the 10th of the month the business begins to normalize and by the 22nd the ship is sinking.
Not to mention the following moral hazard issues:
- collusion of government and big business to encourage EBT use
- A lottery winner using food stamps (it’s the mindset that’s the issue)
- 80% of Walmart employees are on some type of government assistance but… watch the video
- Splurge buying (fillet minion and steak)
- $9000 breast augmentation while receiving government assistance (fungibility issue?)
- No one would have starved w/o food stamps
- National Association of Convenience Store Operators is a big lobbyist to keep the food stamp machine well oiled. Other associations lobbying to keep the well oiled EBT machine running are the Snack Food Association and the American Beverage Association
- Retail food outlets aggressively advertise EBT acceptance (I’ve noticed it at Papa Murphy’s in Longmont)
and the devastating conclusion…
When you combine the number of people that receive their daily bread from taxpayer funds with the number of people who work for government I dare say it will be impossible to have an election that ever removes the corrupt from office. Who is going to vote against their pay-check or the food on their table? (the last sentence was in plain text so I bolded and colored)
The answer is simple and depressing, NOBODY, well almost nobody. And by the time the enlightened progressives realize that their grand experiment has failed, it will be too late.
