Affordable Care Act is working like it should

Alan Cipriani: Affordable Care Act is working like it should – Boulder Daily Camera. Well that’ scary. Here’s my response that I am unable to post on the DC website, apparently due to length…

An alternate reality, there’s a job for you on the DC editorial staff Alan.

Junk policy? Do you mean the junk policy that has paid > $200,000 to Children’s Hospital for my daughters 7 in-patient stays at Children’s Hospital? Do you mean the junk policy that has allowed me to keep my home? Do you mean the junk policy that has a lower maximum out of pocket then the Marketplace Bronze plans, yet costs $300 per month less?

Don’t touch my junk Alan. Don’t touch my junk Obama. Don’t touch my junk to the DC editorial staff. Thankfully my policy is grandfathered so you can’t touch it.

Getting back to this miraculous Obamacare program that is working exactly as it’s supposed to. Let’s see…

Do I need to keep Children’s Hospital in network? Well that drastically narrows the plans that would work for me to CoHealthOp, who has never paid a claim, and Rocky Mtn Health Plans PPO.

Have a child that is under age 26 living out of  state that you want to keep on your plan? You have heard that they can stay on your plan right? Purchase a plan on the Co exchange and the odds are quite high they are out of network. The only Connect for Health Colorado plans available that provide in-network coverage outside the state borders is Rocky Mountain PPO plans. Hey guess what? Most of those “junk” plans had nationwide networks.

Are you a young invincible that is looking forward to your subsidy? Odds are if your annual income is > $26,000 you will receive very little if any subsidy (the exception being the resort areas due to the cost of the plans).

Over 250,000 policies have been cancelled in Colorado. What companies have led the way in Colorado? Rocky Mtn Health Plans and Kaiser. What companies get a 5 star rating on the Connect for Health Colorado website? coincidence?

Whether it’s the 250,000 policies cancelled in Colorado or the 5 million nationwide, if you’re one of those unlucky policy holders, you’re just collateral damage to Progressives that know what’s best for the rest of us.
