The Sgt. Schultz Media

The Sgt. Schultz Media | National Review Online.

Outrage spans the land as the mainstream media breathlessly report that administration officials knew for more than three years Obama’s ironclad promise, “If you like your health care plan, you can keep it. Period.” was howlingly false and millions would lose the coverage they liked. The bulletin is issued as if no one other than certain government officials knew that the president’s promise, regularly invoked in the run-up to the 2012 presidential election, was A Bright Shining Lie.

Nonsense.

Tens of thousands of us who had actually read the hideously titled Affordable Care Act — or significant portions thereof — because we had to organize our businesses around it, advise clients regarding compliance with it, or otherwise implement the monstrosity’s provisions, knew health-care coverage for millions was going to be adversely affected. Millions more simply understood that there’s no such thing as a free lunch.

But not the MSM. They were too busy being Obama’s obedient lapdog. Cancellation of plans should NOT be a surprise to anyone. The MSM should have been informing the public but they chose to remain ignorant. Inquiring minds want to know…

If you work in the MSM, can you be fired for dereliction of duty?

There’s also a bunch of talk about how the insurance companies could simply change their plans to be ACA compliant. While I’m sure there are a myriad of reasons why they have not, there is one that is very simple to understand. The act is called the Affordable Care Act. In general it’s only Affordable if you qualify for a subsidy.

THE ONLY PLACE YOU CAN GET YOUR SUBSIDY IS TO PURCHASE A PLAN THROUGH THE EXCHANGE / MARKETPLACE.

Imagine if the companies simply switched everyone over and started charging them the list price of the new and improved plans.

Believe me, there would be NO dereliction of duty by the MSM if that were to happen.
