Anderson Cooper questions unavailability of Obamacare enrollment numbers

That would be lack of – Anderson Cooper on ObamaCare Enrollment: ‘I Don’t Buy That They Don’t Have Those Numbers’ | NewsBusters.

The other thing that they can’t give you a figure on how many people have actually signed up I just don’t buy. I mean, I just don’t believe that, you know, because, and they’re, you know, what they’re, what they’re promoting is, “Well, we had all these unique visitors. We had an overwhelming number of people actually looking.” But actually signing up, actually creating accounts, the fact they’re not able to give numbers to me, I just, I just don’t buy that they don’t have those numbers.

What do they recommend for people who have been trying to sign up for days now? What’s their advice?

Perhaps Anderson should speculate on why the Government either doesn’t have the numbers of won’t reveal them. The answer is obvious for anyone with a iota of common sense, because the numbers are embarrassingly low. For the short term, they are low because the website is an amateur hour disaster. Longer term they may be low because people don’t sign up, or they may be high as people clamor for coverage.

Regarding the sign up question, my advice is simple and only one word long:

W A I T !!!

The reasons to wait include:

  1. Coverage will not start until January 1st, 2014
  2. Coverage and subsidies will be the same whether you submit your application today, tomorrow or December 15th, 2013. (After Dec 15th, your effective date slips)
  3. The plans will not SELL OUT! The plans available today will be available tomorrow, or Decemeber 15th or March 31st (when open enrollment ends)
