Boulder County subdivision paving meeting: Niwot edition

I left the Niwot subdivision paving meeting early, I couldn’t take it. I left when the Q&A section started as it was orchestrated to move dissenters to the very end of the discussion and it was obvious that there was nothing to be gained. Staff is simply doing their job and of course there were no County Commissioners at the meeting.

The meeting started 30 minutes late because the first 30 minutes were “Open House” time. Sure wish someone had told me. If you have been paying attention, there’s nothing to learn from the George Gerstle’s presentation. Then one of the Niwot elite spoke, that was part of the “gang of 15” that is/was apparently a working group representing neighborhoods that worked with the county. This gentlemen was unabashedly telling us how to vote (PID).

The trouble with all this propaganda is that it looks back to 5 years ago, says we have a problem and we need to address it by taxing ourselves to pay for it. It’s true we have a problem, the fixing part is much more complicated. Every meeting and presentation is orchestrated to avoid how the County abdicated one of the basic responsibilities of government.

The highlight of the meeting was this “flyer” on my windshield from a group calling themselves Responsible Government. I’ve already sent them an e-mail.

Vote no on the PID. LID violates TABOR

LID violates TABOR Act

A friend of mine stayed at the meeting after I left. I’ll check in with him tomorrow morning to see if I missed anything. It was certainly easy to tell from observation that there were citizens that were upset with the County.
