25 Facts About The Fall Of Detroit That Will Leave You Shaking Your Head

Coming to a country, county, city or state near you: 25 Facts About The Fall Of Detroit That Will Leave You Shaking Your Head | Zero Hedge.

Detroit is only just the beginning. When the next major financial crisis strikes, we are going to see a wave of municipal bankruptcies unlike anything we have ever seen before.

And of course the biggest debt problem of all in this country is the U.S. government. We are going to pay a great price for piling up nearly 17 trillion dollars of debt and over 200 trillion dollars of unfunded liabilities.

All over the nation, our economic infrastructure is being gutted, debt levels are exploding and poverty is spreading. We are consuming far more wealth than we are producing, and our share of global GDP has been declining dramatically.

We have been living way above our means for so long that we think it is “normal”, but an extremely painful “adjustment” is coming and most Americans are not going to know how to handle it.

So don’t laugh at Detroit. The economic pain that Detroit is experiencing will be coming to your area of the country soon enough.

Helluva way to start of your day, eh?

Move over NSA, here comes the Obamacare Big Brother database | Rare

Move over NSA, here comes the Obamacare Big Brother database | Rare.

Would you trust thousands of low-level Federal bureaucrats and contractors with one-touch access to your private financial and medical information? Under Obamacare you won’t have any choice.

Actually you might. If you’re willing to forgo the government subsidy or you aren’t subsidy eligible then you can avoid the exchange and the data hub. I suspect your information could still be pulled up by the data hub but there are a lot others more at risk. Of course, that IS assuming the data hub is used for it’s intended purpose.

Also, not well noted in this article, is the data hub will only have your data for a very short time. It is accessing data from other agencies and not building it’s own database… or atl east so they say.

However, of legitimate concern is who will be accessing the data hub and typing the keystrokes to call up your personal information and seeing the results?

However, the hacker threat is the least of the Data Hub worries. The hub will be used on a daily basis by so-called Navigators, which according to the GAO are “community and consumer-focused nonprofit groups, to which exchanges award grants to provide fair and impartial public education” and “refer consumers as appropriate for further assistance.” Thousands of such people will have unfettered access to the Data Hub, but there are only sketchy guidelines on how they will be hired, trained and monitored. Given the slap-dash, incoherent way Obamacare is being implemented the prospect for quality control is low. And the Obama administration’s track record of sweetheart deals, no-bid, sole-source contracting and other means of rewarding people with insider access means the Data Hub will be firmly in the hands of trusted White House loyalists.

So if you think the IRS targeting Tea Party groups was bad, just wait for the Obamacare Navigators to be unleashed. “Trust us,” the administration says, no one will abuse the Data Hub. Sure, because that has worked out so well in the past.

These days, I don’t know how that can’t be called “worrisome”.

IRS scandal story’s legs get sturdier

IRS scandal story’s legs get sturdier | Kyle Wingfield .

Liberals have been desperate to stamp a giant “case closed” on the IRS scandal. But, inconveniently for them, facts keep emerging that demand the case stay very much opened, and the trail followed as far as it goes.

The noose tightens the Democrats scream louder.

New York food stamp recipients are shipping welfare-funded groceries to relatives in Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Haiti – NYPOST.com

New York food stamp recipients are shipping welfare-funded groceries to relatives in Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Haiti – NYPOST.com.

Everybody does it,” said a worker at an Associated Supermarket in Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Brooklyn. “They pay for it any way they can. A lot of people pay with EBT.”

Customers pay cash for the barrels, usually about $40, and typically ship them filled with $500 to $2,000 worth of rice, beans, pasta, canned milk and sausages.

Workers at the Pioneer Supermarket on Parkside Avenue and the Key Food on Flatbush Avenue confirmed the practice.

They said food-stamp recipients typically take home their barrels and fill them gradually over time with food bought with EBT cards.

When the tubs are full, the welfare users call a shipping company to pick them up and send them to the Caribbean for about $70. The shipments take about three weeks.

Not OK.

Judge grants exemption for Hobby Lobby in ObamaCare challenge

Judge grants exemption for Hobby Lobby in ObamaCare challenge | Fox News.

Hobby Lobby Inc. was given a temporary exemption Friday from a requirement in the new federal health care law to offer insurance coverage for the morning-after pill and similar emergency birth control methods or face steep fines.

But keep in mind…

The company offers 16 other forms of birth control mentioned in the federal health care law in its health insurance plans.

“To offer prescriptions that take life is not an option for us,” said Green, who attended Friday’s hearing with other family members and supporters.

The legal arguments…

Kyle Duncan, Hobby Lobby’s lead attorney, argued that requiring the company to comply with the mandate would be a burden to religious exercise. The U.S. Department of Human Services has granted exemptions from portions of the health care law for plans that cover tens of millions of people and an injunction for Hobby Lobby would be in the public interest and would not burden the government, he said.

The government’s lawyer, Michelle Bennett, urged Heaton to consider the potential harm an injunction might create for Hobby Lobby’s 13,000 employees and members of their families who would be denied coverage for the emergency contraceptives.

Denied coverage but NOT denied access. They do have jobs after all.

Cost is in the $10 to $80/mo range. According to this article, the Plan B one step is available over the counter to all ages.

A Bombshell in the IRS Scandal

Where there’s smoke there’s fire: A Bombshell in the IRS Scandal – WSJ.com.

Still, what landed was a bombshell. And Democrats know it. Which is why they are so desperate to make the investigation go away. They know, as Republicans do, that the chief counsel of the IRS is one of only two Obama political appointees in the entire agency.

Nothing to see here, move along… which explains Democrat’s trying to throw Inspector General J Russel George under the bus.

NSA snooping: How long until it reaches six degrees of separation?

The NSA Admits It Analyzes More People’s Data Than Previously Revealed – Philip Bump – The Atlantic Wire.

But Inglis’ statement was new. Analysts look “two or three hops” from terror suspects when evaluating terror activity, Inglis revealed. Previously, the limit of how surveillance was extended had been described as two hops. This meant that if the NSA were following a phone metadata or web trail from a terror suspect, it could also look at the calls from the people that suspect has spoken with—one hop. And then, the calls that second person had also spoken with—two hops. Terror suspect to person two to person three. Two hops. And now: A third hop.

Oh, and apparently on the internet it’s not six degrees…

For a sense of scale, researchers at the University of Milan found in 2011 that everyone on the Internet was, on average, 4.74 steps away from anyone else.

What was it that Ben Franklin said? Oh never mind, if you care you can figure it out.

Peeling the Benghazi Coverup Onion: Marine colonel sought in Benghazi investigation not yet retired

Despite Pentagon claims, Marine colonel sought in Benghazi investigation not yet retired | Marine Corps Times | marinecorpstimes.com.

Defense Department officials have told members of Congress that Bristol cannot be forced to testify because he retired after stepping down during a March change of command ceremony, according to several media reports. The Pentagon reinforced that point of view to Marine Corps Times on Tuesday.

“Col. Bristol was not invited by Congress to testify before he retired,” said Air Force Maj. Robert Firman, a spokesman with the Office of the Secretary of Defense. “The DoD has cooperated fully with Congress and the Accountability Review Board since the beginning of this investigation, and we will continue to do so.”

That isn’t the case, however. While Bristol is preparing for retirement, he is on active duty through the end of July, said Maj. Shawn Haney, a Marine spokeswoman, on Wednesday. He will be placed on the inactive list on Aug. 1, she said. That contradicts statements that Pentagon officials have issued to both Congress and the media.

You can’t make this stuff up. Or as Glenn Reynods says:

Kinda gives the impression they’re covering something up.

Absolutely.

Benghazi Coverup: Something Stinks

Congressman Frank Wolf: Benghazi Survivors Forced to Sign Non-Disclosure Agreements.

“According to trusted sources that have contacted my office, many if not all of the survivors of the Benghazi attacks along with others at the Department of Defense, the CIA have been asked or directed to sign additional non-disclosure agreements about their involvement in the Benghazi attacks. Some of these new NDAs, as they call them, I have been told were signed as recently as this summer.”

Congressman Wolf concludes…

“I do not expect the Obama administration to be forthcoming with answers, but if this Congress, if this Congress does not ask for the information and compel its delivery, the American people will never learn the truth. Any federal employer employee or contractor who has been coerced and is silenced through a non-disclosure agreement should expect that Congress [will] ask to speak out on their behalf and compel their voice to be heard. That’s why I, along with 159 of my colleagues, support a Select Committee to hold public hearings to learn the truth about what happened that night in Benghazi.”

I don’t expect the Obama administration to be forthcoming either.

Also, why ONLY 159 of Congressman Wolf’s colleagues?

Elsewhere on Benghazi, Ann Althouse commenting on this Politico article, What has become of the Benghazi investigation?

I have to scoff.

Who didn’t already know within a couple weeks of the the attack that the statements about how there would be an “investigation” meant we need you to stop talking about this until everyone forgets?

That’s my question.

And: Why did so many journalists and politicians submit to the “investigation” gag?

So journalists, at least by name, let’s ask this again…

Why did so many journalists and politicians submit to the “investigation” gag?

To reiterate, Something Stinks.

Government Is Out Of Control And Out Of Integrity

Government Is Out Of Control And Out Of Integrity | Zero Hedge.

The debt limit has an issue and has been stuck at $16,699,396,000,000 for 56 straight days. How can that be with QE infinity?

Is that possible? Of course not. Quantitative Easing by itself is increasing debt at the rate of $85 billion every thirty days.

Which brings us back to the integrity thingy…

Government sets its own laws. When they become inconvenient, they just ignore them and do whatever they choose. Then they lie to the American people.

Culture of corruption. IRS, Benghazi, NSA snooping, Fast and Furious, Obamacare implementation. No doubt the list bridges administrations but we are where are, and we have to change it from here. Or you can trust the man on the White Horse.

Jim Rogers: “Beware The Man On The White Horse…”

In the 1920s, there was one bankrupt country. And the consequences still define the world we live in.

Today there are at least half a dozen insolvent nations, including some of the largest economies in the world– Japan, Spain, Greece, Portugal, the US, etc.

And while major economic decline can take years or even decades to unfold, history shows that the consequences affect almost everyone… especially when people look to a man on a white horse to save them from their desperation.

Read the whole thing, which is simply a setup to the man on the white horse, I believe you’ll recognize his name….

Scary lessons for Americans and ObamaCare from UK’s National Health Service

Scary lessons for Americans and ObamaCare from UK’s National Health Service | Fox News.

At Stafford Hospital, police are investigating the deaths of 300 patients over a four-year period. They suspect neglect, even criminality, may have contributed to their deaths.

In February, the Telegraph reported “More than 3,000 people may have died unnecessarily at five NHS trusts.”

Why isn’t this a lesson for the U.S.? Why do people believe government is more competent than the private sector, despite numerous examples to the contrary?

The Obama administration is pressing ahead with implementing America’s version of the NHS, no doubt expecting different results.

Nothing to see here, move along.

Great moments in media math – LOL?

Great moments in media math « The Greenroom.

You cannot make this stuff up (sorry you’ll have to read it yourself). This example reminds me of some long ago Olympics where (supposedly) the Russians reported that their participant finished 2nd and the US finished next to last. The catch? There were only two particpants.

Admittedly the above example is most likely fiction as I doubt there was an Olympic competiton, or any athletic competition where there are only two participants in the standings. Yet the “Great moments in media math” is a real life example of msm, liberal, progressive medica propaganda.

It would be funny if it wasn’t so pathetic.

USA Today: Having lost in Congress and in court, they’re now using the most cynical of tactics: trying to make the law fail.

Having lost in Congress and in court, they’re now using the most cynical of tactics: trying to make the law fail. Never mind the public inconvenience and human misery that will result.

via PJ Media » Yes, the GOP Is Obstructing ObamaCare Implementation. Well I sure hope they succeed.

Rick Moran at PJ Media commenting on the “inconvenience”…

“Human misery”? It is unbecoming for a major publication to employ hyperbole in its political analysis. That term is something a lefty blogger might use, or some rabid Democratic partisan in Congress. If there is to be any “human misery,” you should chalk it up to 1) the incomprehensible and haphazard manner the law was written in the first place, and 2) the delay — purely for for political reasons relating to the 2012 presidential campaign — in getting the numerous agencies and departments to write the many thousands of pages of regulations regarding Medicare, Medicaid, mandated insurance coverage, and subsidy eligibility, to name just a few areas that government will oversee under Obamacare.

No amount of cooperation by Republicans could have made up for the unconscionable delays in issuing these regulations that insurance companies needed to develop new policies, that states needed to develop the exchanges, and that businesses needed to plan for the future. But President Obama decided that much of the bad news that has come out in the past few months as the regulations have been unveiled — including the spikes in insurance premiums in several states — needed to be delayed until after he was safely re-elected. Who’s causing the “human misery” now?

“Public inconvenience”? Allow me a short guffaw. The GOP believes that overturning one-sixth of the U.S. economy by implementing Obamacare goes far beyond a little “inconvenience.” It is a massively destabilizing law that, even if Republicans had cooperated in its rollout, is set up to fail.

The technology doesn’t even exist to make the state insurance exchanges work in the way that the law intends. And the dirty little secret is that the administration has known this fact for months.

So exactly WHY is the administration dropping requirements and cutting corners? Is that Republican’s fault? Rick smells the sweet smell of DESPERATION and so do I.

The constitutionality of dropping requirements or delaying mandates (see this article for more fudging on the law’s requirements by the administration) may be in question, but there is no argument that they are doing it because they are desperate. Their desperation is not a result of any interference by Republicans. The administration is running around with its hair on fire because of decisions they made all by themselves. They had three years to bring this program online and will fail because of their own incompetence and imprudence.

It is amazing that the president is still lying about how the exchanges will work at this late date. Indeed, most of the major promises the president made about Obamacare in his joint session of Congress speech on September 9, 2009, have fallen by the wayside. Millions of Americans won’t be able to keep their insurance if they want to. The idea that Obamacare will make insurance more affordable is a bad joke. The program’s cost has already nearly doubled from its original price tag.

The narrative the Democratic partisans mentioned above are trying to push is that all of these problems are the result of GOP obstructionism. If they had only done everything the president wanted, given the administration every dime they needed, and enthusiastically pitched in to inform the American public about the coming changes, everything would be peaches and cream and Obamacare would be a hit.

It’s nonsense, of course. Obamacare doesn’t need GOP obstructionism to be a disaster in both the near and long term. The exchanges may eventually become workable, although the time frame might be measured in years rather than months. Medicaid expansion won’t be too bad at first, but given the program’s ill health, you wonder how long it will be before signs of collapse set in.

It sure is nice the GOP is around to take the fall though. What would the Democrats do without them, look in the mirror? Talk about LOL.

And I’m 100% behind Rick’s conclusion on obstruction…

But Republicans aren’t obstructing this law because it will become one more entitlement that’s going to add to the deficit, or because they hate Obama. They are obstructing the implementation of a law that fundamentally alters the relationship between the government and the governed — alters that equation in ways that are at odds with the purposes and intent of the Founders. We embrace first principles because they supply an anchor to our past that allows us to maintain fundamental ideas of freedom and liberty in any age, under any government run by any party. Obamacare runs counter to some of those notions of liberty because it takes so many decisions about one’s personal and private life away from the individual and places it with the collective. (emphasis added and AMEN)

The obstruction charge relating to such a law should be embraced by the party, not denied.

END OF STORY.
