Obamacare “let’s change the law” hour continues

Amateur hour – Obama Lifts Health Mandate for Those With Canceled Plans – Bloomberg.

What part of the law is actually “law” and what part of it is made up as we go along.

From the Republican response…

“The sad reality is that when the law takes effect come Jan. 1, more Americans will be without coverage under Obamacare than one year ago,” Representative Fred Upton, a Michigan Republican who is chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, said in an e-mail. “Rather than more White House delays, waivers, and exemptions, the administration should provide all Americans relief from its failed law.”

The Obama administration yesterday disputed such claims saying it’s impossible for more people to lose coverage than gain coverage because of policy cancellations. Fewer than 500,000 people will lose plans starting Jan. 1 because their policies don’t meet the law’s requirements and they haven’t found new coverage, according to administration officials who briefed reporters yesterday on condition of anonymity.

Liars. Colorado alone has documented 250,000 people losing coverage.

BoCo Gang of Thugs

George H. Johnson: Boulder County acts like a gang of thugs on subdivision roads – Boulder Daily Camera.

In the words of Bob Dylan “things have changed.” This fiasco concerning the county vs. unincorporated subdivision property owners and road “maintenance” has a very bad smell about it. No matter how you slice it, the obvious conclusion is that Boulder County, with its novel definition of “maintenance,” has literally flipped the bird at constituents representing a fair sized voting block.

Indeed.

India-US row escalates over arrest of diplomat in New York – Asia – World – The Independent

Devyani Khobragade: India-US row escalates over arrest of diplomat in New York – Asia – World – The Independent.

Tit for tat?

A senior member of India’s main opposition party said India should arrest gay partners of US diplomats living in India.

“My suggestion to the government of India is, the media has reported that we have issued visas to a number of US diplomats’ companions. Companions means that they are of the same sex,” Yashwant Sinha of the Bharatiya Janata Party told reporters.

He added: “Now, after the Supreme Court ruling, it is completely illegal in our country. Just as paying less wages was illegal in the US. So, why doesn’t the government of India go ahead and arrest all of them?”

Sure seems like there were much better ways to handle this situation if the Obama administration wasn’t so tone deaf.

New Obama adviser compares GOP to Jonestown cult

New Obama adviser compares GOP to Jonestown cult.

John Podesta was just named as a new senior-level adviser to President Obama last week, but he’s already ruffling Republican feathers.

In a profile published late Tuesday night by Politico Magazine, Podesta is quoted comparing Republicans to the infamous cult led by Jim Jones, who was responsible for the 1978 cyanide poisoning of more than 900 of his followers in Guyana

Okaaay. This should play well in Boulder but I question how well it will work out nationwide.

Boulder County files objections to lawsuit over paving district plan

Boulder County files objections to lawsuit over paving district plan – Boulder Daily Camera.

Boulder County, not surprisingly, disagrees with a lawsuit’s contention that the county commissioners don’t have the legal authority to form a Local Improvement District that will bill rural residential subdivision property owners the bulk of the costs of rehabilitating those subdivisions’ paved roads.

On Thursday, Boulder County asked the Boulder District Court to dismiss most of the claims in a lawsuit that eight subdivision property owners filed on Nov. 20. Thursday’s response from the Boulder County Attorney’s Office denied many of the lawsuit’s remaining allegations.

And of course, the heart of the lawsuit, the meaning of the word “maintenance”

Boulder County denied in its Thursday response that the kinds of repaving and rehabilitation improvements to be done under the LID — including chip sealing, asphalt overlays and road reconstruction — would constitute road “maintenance.”

Which of course they would do. The fun and games have begun, grab your popcorn and head down to the courthouse.

ObamaCare amateur hour / days / weeks/ months / years

ObamaCare: Another Deadline Slips | Fox Business.

Another Obamacare deadline was pushed back on Thursday and now the White House is asking insurers to accept late payments and still give individuals coverage in the interim.

The Department of Health and Human Services extended the deadline for individuals who want to be covered on the first of the year to Dec. 31 from Dec. 23.

No way to expect insurers to run a business and no way to run a country.

Stoopidity and incompetence beyond belief doesn’t begin to describe this administrations implementation of the President’s signature piece of legislation.

Update BoCo FIRM: Liens up to $22,950 placed on individual properties

Boulder County imposes liens up to $22,950 on individual properties

On November 5th, County Ballot Issue 5C failed.  County residents voted overwhelming against any new taxes for subdivision road maintenance. In response on November 21st, the County Commissioners unilaterally imposed a LID (Local Improvement District) to do exactly the same thing – ignoring the vote of the people.AS A RESULT, YOU HAVE NOW BEEN ASSESSED THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS WHICH ARE DUE AND PAYABLE TO THE COUNTY ON OR BEFORE DECEMBER 23rd.  AND A LIEN HAS BEEN PLACED ON YOUR PROPERTY.

To find out how much the assessment is on your property click on the following link, LID Assessment Roll, and then search for your property by your name.

And it gets worse.  For those of you who think you still live in America and can’t believe this is happening, trust us, everything we are about to tell you is true.

1) The County Commissioners assessed your property on November 21, 2013.

2) This amount is Due and Payable within 30 days (December 23, 2013).

3) If you DO NOT pay your assessment in full within 30 days, you will lose ALL YOUR INDIVIDUAL LEGAL RIGHTS to question, complain, or challenge the LID or any actions of the County Commissioners regarding the LID.

4) You WILL NOT receive a bill from the county for this assessment until you get your normal Property Tax Notice next year. The county is hoping you will do nothing until then – thus giving up all your legal rights without even knowing it.

6) The County has placed a lien on your property with the County Assessor for the full amount of the lien. How this will impact buyers and sellers is unknown.

What are your options?

1) Do nothing until you get your Property Tax Bill next year.  It will include an amount for the LID of 1/15th of your total assessment.  You will have a lien on your property for the unpaid balance.   You will have given up any legal rights in this matter as mentioned above. You will continue to be billed 1/15th of your total assessment every year for the next 15 years.

2) Pay your Assessment in full on or before December 23rd.  This eliminates the lien on your property and preserves all your legal rights.

3) Become a PLAINTIFF.  Join our lawsuit against the commissioners.  To become a plaintiff all you need to do is submit your name, address, phone number, email and circumstances (Describe your physical situation, i.e.corner lot, cul-de-sac, etc..). Does your road serve a public purpose (accesses a school, church, Open Space trailhead, etc.). Describe the condition of your road and your subdivision roads in general.  Describe any work you know has been done (ever) and when, by the county on your subdivision roads.)

to SubdivisionRoads@comcast.net.

4) CONTRIBUTE to BoCo FIRM to help fight this travesty of justice and curb local government run amuck!  You can send a check made out to BoCo FIRM to PO Box 11275, Boulder, CO 80301 or donate via credit card by clicking on the following link

Death spiral, here we come.

Obamacare Exchanges Wont Hit Enrollment Targets – Amy Ridenours National Center Blog – A Conservative Blog.

The federal exchanges fall about 44% short of the enrollment target and all exchanges fall about 43% short. The only question is whether the shortfall will be distributed evenly among all age groups? Probably not. In states where we have information, such as Colorado, Kentucky, and California, enrollment of 18-34-year-olds are falling far short of 35% rate that the Obama Administration estimate it needs
