‘I’ve got a pen’: Obama raises hackles with executive actions | Fox News.

I say shut up and use it. It’s a bridge to far, but Obama’s too stoopid to know it.

Actually, if Obama had any advisors that weren’t ass kissers, they would be telling him to shut up.

Obamacare: You can leave but you can’t check out

‘Parallel universe’: Woman spends 6 weeks trying to disenroll from ObamaCare | Fox News.

Missouri resident Lesli Hill learned the hard way that terminating an Affordable Care Act plan can be far more difficult than navigating the website to buy one. She spent six weeks being bounced from operator to operator, calling the help line, using the online chat, blasting out emails to anyone who would listen, before ultimately driving to Kansas City last week to enlist her insurance company’s help. Only then was she able to break through the bureaucratic logjam, and cancel her policy.
“It’s consumed my whole life,” she told FoxNews.com, albeit with a hint of relief in her voice as she described the Kafkaesque experience behind her

Cluster….  Just think what single payer would be like. Reminds of this quote from a recent post…

They’ve had three years to get this right and haven’t even defined the terms necessary for the regulation? They had three years to construct a website and didn’t come close to finishing? What is it with these guys? They’re like college kids who procrastinate on that big paper and then wait until the night before it’s due to start it.

I love Rick Moran’s conclusion. It’s from the point of view of “the adult in the room.”

Young Liberal: “As Much As I Support Obamacare, I Just Can’t Afford It”

Young Liberal: As Much As I Support Obamacare, I Just Can’t Afford It – Guy Benson.

Run the numbers, where do I find room for another $308/month??? I’ve been off my parents insurance for 8 years. I’ve been to the doctor less than 5 times in those years, for a total cost of under $500. It’s hard for me to justify spending almost $3800 a year on a bronze plan when that’s more than 7 times what I’ve paid over the last 8 years! And even spending that much, I’ve still got a large deductible to cover. I know I’m not getting any younger, but man, these numbers are hard to swallow, much less get excited about!

The unhappy young liberal lives in NYC but a similar if not worse situation can occur in the resort areas of Colorado. High cost of living, high cost of health coverage, but not too difficult to have an income high enough to be ineligible for a subsidy.

An Obamacare supporter’s misadventures with HealthCare.gov

An Obamacare supporter’s misadventures with HealthCare.gov | The Daily Caller.

On Jan. 1, we rejoiced. And on Jan. 10, we gave up.
Ten days in, we decided to cancel Miles’ Obamacare plan, swallow hundreds of dollars we’ll probably never recover and buy him a private policy away from the Federal Health Insurance Exchange Marketplace. His new plan does benefit from many requirements of the Affordable Care Act as well, so that’s good.
But even the administrators at Obamacare’s headquarters have agreed this is the best option. Really.
That’s not how it was supposed to be. After dozens of hours of phone calls that displaced my usual work obligations this week, only one thing is clear: Nobody can give anybody a straight or consistent answer to anything.
Our troubles may strike some as trivial and particular, although they wouldn’t if it happened to them. And anyone who wants a successful system – as we do – must understand that these nightmares are happening across the nation to the very people who want Obamacare to work.

Read the whole thing. I repeat, READ THE WHOLE THING.

It’s all too easy to believe this happens. No, I’m not “piling on” here, I know from experience.

  • subsidy eligibility
  • restricted networks
  • restricted formularies (but at least you get free birth control)

are all gifts brought to the unknowing, ignorant public courtesy of Obamacare.

Bottom line, Obamacare is so complicated as to be untenable. The Grand Wizards that invented and implemented this monstrosity deserve a special place in hell.

The Diplomad asks: “Who takes anything President Obama says seriously?”

The DiploMad 2.0: Yearning for the Bush League.

Those were the Good Old Days. Who takes anything President Obama says seriously? The United States is increasingly irrelevant to major developments in the world. We fritter away on power and influence on nonsense, and on endless lecturing of others on residual issues such as global warming and gay rights. We undermine our network of alliances and disregard our friends’ core interests: be it Israel’s right to security; the abandonment of of our hard-fought victories in Iraq and Afghanistan; the sell-out of allies such as Mubarak; promoting the Muslim Brotherhood; sabotaging the UK on the Falklands; pushing for mindless regime change in Libya; the Benghazi fiasco; conducting a bizarre zig-zag policy towards Syria; helping make Russia a prominent player in the Middle East; paving the way for Cuba’s return to the OAS; acquiescing to Iran’s nuclear ambitions; ceding ground to China; and selling guns to Mexican drug cartels. Those are a few examples; I am sure you can come up with more.

As they say, read the whole thing.

Obamcare: Singing up early may not be a good thing

Problems in state health care exchanges may reflect glitches in federal system | Fox News.

“I was told by the insurance company I selected that they have no record of me. I did go to the state navigation system and they have no record of me,” she said.
That is the same problem the federal government experienced with the so-called back end of the system, which tells state officials and insurance companies who has enrolled.

Read the whole thing, there’s more.

Ads Attacking Health Law Stagger Outspent Democrats

Ads Attacking Health Law Stagger Outspent Democrats – NYTimes.com.

Democrats are increasingly anxious about an onslaught of television ads hitting vulnerable Senate and House candidates for their support of the new health law, since many lack the resources to fight back in the early stages of the midterm campaign.
Since September, Americans for Prosperity, a group financed in part by the billionaire Koch brothers, has spent an estimated $20 million on television advertising that calls out House and Senate Democrats by name for their support of the Affordable Care Act.
The unusually aggressive early run of television ads, which has been supplemented by other conservative initiatives, has gone largely unanswered, and strategists in both parties agree it is taking a toll on its targets.

And they should be. Just read about how this byzantine law actually (attempts to function):

So Obamacare giveth to the insurance companies and then it taketh away. And then it giveth back again, in a sort of shell game. A significant amount of the revenue that insurance companies get from Obamacare is from the government subsidizing those who might not otherwise buy insurance, and a significant amount of the money the government gets in order to go about subsidizing those people is from taxes paid by insurance companies, which are then given back to the insurance companies in the form of customer subsidies for low-income policyholders, and then…well, you get the idea.

You can’t make this stuff up. Obviously bureaucrats have never head of the phrase “keep it simple stoopid”.

‘I assumed that a man in a business suit wouldn’t be patient with Kate and I’m so fortunate to have been proved wrong.’

Mother writes thank you to man who entertained her autistic daughter on flight | Mail Online.

The mother-of-two continued: ‘The moment you sat down, Kate started to rub your arm.’Your jacket was soft and she liked the feel of it. You smiled at her and she said: “Hi, Daddy, that’s my mom.” Then she had you.’

‘You could have shifted uncomfortably in your seat. You could have ignored her. You could have given me that ‘smile’ that I despise because it means; ‘manage your child please.’

‘You did none of that. You engaged Kate in conversation and you asked her questions about her turtles.’

Idiotic “Brosurance” ads made no impact in Colorado | The Daily Caller

Idiotic “Brosurance” ads made no impact in Colorado | The Daily Caller.

Sometimes, an idea that seems stupid and crazy turns out to be a brilliant success.

This is not one of those times.

Indeed.

It’s possible that young people realize they’re being lied to, that they’re getting a raw deal out of this whole debacle. (This scam is based on the idea of fleecing the young and healthy to pay for the whole thing.) It’s also possible that they’re not paying attention and they just don’t care, because it’s boring.

Either way, this is just another piece of evidence that Obamacare is a failure of titanic, not to mention Titanic, proportions. We haven’t hit the iceberg yet, but it’s looming. And our moral, ethical, and intellectual superiors are scrambling around frantically, trying to come up with the perfect configuration of deck chairs.

I’m sure we’ll be subject to many lectures from our moral, ethical and intellectual superiors on the editorial pages of the Daily Camera. Sure would be nice to see some common sense instead.

Washington Big Spenders: Wasteful as Essential

Washington Big Spenders: Wasteful as Essential | Cato @ Liberty.

If you live anywhere but Washington, D.C., you probably believe that the federal government spends too much. Today the national debt is more than $17 trillion. CBO figured that existing budget plans would add between $6.3 trillion and $8.8 trillion in red ink over the coming decade.

Unless you live in Boulder.

Let’s not forget unfunded liabilities…

Social Security and Medicare alone account for more than $100 trillion in unfunded liabilities, promised benefits for which no revenues are set. Counting a multitude of other debts and obligations, American taxpayers are on the hook for more than $220 trillion in unfunded liabilities.

Conclusion…

But Congress should start by killing the Coburn 100. Americans then need to have an adult conversation about the budget. Too many people expect to live at someone else’s expense through Washington. Which is why the nation faces financial ruin.

This is a much bigger problem then “global warming” or “climate change”, etc, etc.

LOL, Inadvertent Incentives? – Boulder to re-examine spending on homeless

Boulder to re-examine spending on homeless, step up downtown enforcement – Boulder Daily Camera.

Boulder officials will take a close look at their spending on services for the homeless to make sure they aren’t inadvertently creating incentives for “transients,” a term City Council members used to distinguish people who are traveling or homeless by choice from community members who have fallen on hard times and want help to improve their situation.

There were no inadvertent incentives. These are either deliberant incentives, or were created by people too stoopid to be in public office, or created by the psuedo intellectual elite in Boulder who believe government is an answer for everything. Pick your poison.
