So Boulder – EXPOSING THE REAL COSTS OF “GREEN” ENERGY It must be great to be “so woke” in the 24 square miles surrounded by reality.

Read about a Minnesota study by Powerline’s John Hinderaker…

Today Center of the American Experiment released a groundbreaking paper that addresses a relatively mild “green” proposal: legislation that would raise the renewable energy standard in Minnesota from 25% to 50%. Two of my staffers have been working on the paper for months, drawing on publicly available (but rarely consulted) sources to understand what would be necessary to achieve that 50% goal, what it would cost, how it would impact the state’s economy, and what effect it would have on global temperatures.

The paper is titled “Doubling Down on Failure: How a 50 Percent by 2030 Renewable Energy Standard Would Cost Minnesota $80.2 Billion.” With appendices, it runs to 75 pages. I am not aware of a similarly comprehensive analysis that has been done of any “green” proposal at either the state or the federal level. The paper is fully transparent: all assumptions, data and calculations are clearly set forth. The appendices are largely spread sheets. If anyone disagrees with the report’s conclusions, it should be easy to identify where and why those disagreements arise. You can read the paper here.

But no worries, the elite, psuedo intellectual Boulderites will fearlessly lead it’s citizens straight down the path to unreliable and some of the most expensive energy in the nation. Of course, the great green minds in Boulder will solve all the problems that Minnesota can’t. Or NOT. I’m betting on NOT.

Many residents will be purchasing electricity through a government subsidized exchange, let’s call it Connect for Energy Colorado. It’s about power and control. Government creates a problem, expensive electricity, then rides in on a white horse with the solution. HANDOUTS. And the poor and middle class or forever grateful, forgetting who caused the problem in the first place.

Boulderites, you’re being sold a bill of goods and you deserve it. Just don’t take the rest of the state with you.

Gotta love it – Teen builds working nuclear fusion reactor in Memphis home | Fox News

He began working on the fusion reactor at 12 years old, after concluding that he didn’t want to dedicate his leisure time solely to playing games like Fortnite. He began scouring the Internet for nuclear-related things because that’s what he says held his interest. Yes — at 12 years old.

If you know someone with a Chronic illness, in this case Chron’s disease, this is a must read –  Five Things I Wish I’d Known Before My Chronic Illness – The New York Times

Note to employers and friends of someone with a chronic illness…

It’s hard to be a good employee when you need extended time off. It’s hard to be a good friend when you cancel plans last minute. It’s hard to be a good partner or parent when you barely have the energy to get out of bed. No matter how much you try to explain, people expect you to get better already — and when you don’t, they resent you, consciously or not. Some relationships end entirely, casualties of an unfair and misunderstood illness, while others get stronger as you find your true support system.

Also, if you feel the need to give advice…

People are compelled to offer advice about chronically ill bodies because they’re convinced a fix must exist. Here are a few of the things I’ve been told, unsolicited, to try over the years: yoga, meditation, essential oils, acupuncture, CBD oil, vaping, prayer, bone broth and [fill in the blank with the latest fad] diet. Some of these are great in conjunction with medical treatment — my doctor recommends meditation for stress relief, for example — but the advice is offered as a cure or a better alternative to whatever I’m already doing. And let’s face it, no amount of broth is going to turn off my spazzy immune system.

Do your friends a favor and don’t, not unless they ask.

Read the whole thing, then read it again. And if you grow frustrated that they cancel on you or don’t ever seem to get well, read it again.

Boulderites, you won’t get the memo from MSNBC, CNN or the Daily Camera so I’m giving it to you – FAKE NEWS: Alarmists’ Climate Study Claiming ‘Insect Collapse’ is Debunked – Liberty Headlines

In a letter to the National Academy of Sciences, four GWPF signatories explain that the entire premise of the doomsday study, called “Climate-driven declines in arthropod abundance restructure a rain forest food web,” is based on erroneous temperature data.

“It has come to our attention that the paper contains serious flaws, which we believe completely undermine the paper’s findings. As such, we ask that you retract the paper,” the letter states.

But even if the study is withdrawn, its contribution to the media narrative of global warming may have irretrievably set in. (emphasis added)

Message to true believers, nothing to see here move along.

Wonder when they will introduce this in the U.S.?  Why Are Apple And Google Offering A Saudi App That Tracks Women? | Care2 Causes

The app is designed very specifically to help men control women, and it highlights the fact that neither Apple nor Google reviews apps very closely before allowing them to go up. When a repressive regime starts marketing a product like this, it should raise at least a few eyebrows.

The general public became aware of the issue in part thanks to Senator Ron Wyden. The Democrat from Oregon took to Twitter to condemn it and called on the tech companies to pull it from their listings. In a letter to Apple and Google, he said “American companies should not enable or facilitate the Saudi government’s patriarchy.”

Big shout out to Senator Ron Wyden.

So Boulder: Welcome to California, land of 1,000 laws — and that’s just this year | TheHill

But that healthy sense of community and solidarity too often is hijacked by a legislature hell bent on pushing a steady stream of legislation designed to take the bread from our mouths and money from our pockets in pursuit of some grand democratic and progressive utopia of cradle-to-grave entitlements coupled with complete freedom from all things offensive or even slightly conservative.

The author is late to the party but welcome.

Where do you get your news? 67 Media Mistakes in the Trump Era: The Definitive List | Sharyl Attkisson

But as self-appointed arbiters of truth, we’ve largely excused our own unprecedented string of fact-challenged reporting. The truth is, formerly well-respected, top news organizations are making repeat, unforced errors in numbers that were unheard of just a couple of years ago.

Say it ain’t so, but don’t waste your breath because I won’t believe you.

Toxic masculinity – Meet the CEO Who Put His Company on the Line to Stand Up to Gillette’s ‘Toxic Masculinity’ Ad

The Gillette ad rubbed me the wrong way. I, like the overwhelming majority of men, am absolutely disgusted by sexual assault, rape, bullying, so why throw it in my face as if my “gender” as a whole is toxic? Using terms like “toxic masculinity” is using too broad a stroke to address specific issues — issues which I agree very much need to be addressed, especially after all the crazy stuff we’ve seen in Hollywood. I am not against Gillette trying to start a conversation about assault, but I do have an issue with how they went about it.

News Boulderites can use, because you won’t read it or see it anywhere else – The IRS Scandal, Day 1921: Federal Judge Approves $3.5 Million Payout From IRS To >100 Tea Party Groups To Settle Targeting Claims

Washington Times, Tea Party Groups Get Revenge Against IRS as Judge Approves $3.5 Million Payout:

A judge late Wednesday signed off on the settlement between the IRS and hundreds of tea party groups, closing out the last major legal battle over what all sides now agree was unwarranted and illegal targeting for political purposes. (emphasis added, well there IS emphasis there, it’s just not displayed!)

Explain to me exactly why you want the government to have more control over your lives?

Where is my shocked face when I need it? – STUDY: Conservative students feel pressure to self-censor

If students feel the need to censor themselves, Wills warns, this may “derail” the learning experience.

“Student learning is derailed when students perceive a need to censor their beliefs or write on an exam what they think a professor wants to hear. That is not a positive learning experience, or really a learning experience at all,” he explained.

“We are not suggesting that students themselves are responsible for the derailing,” Wills clarified. “It’s a missed learning opportunity. Given their position of authority in the classroom, professors must take responsibility for such outcomes—especially if they are creating a classroom environment in which students do not think they can honestly express their own views.”

Seems like this research should have been done a number of years ago. I suspect the reason it wasn’t as no one gives a damn about conservative students.

I suspect most Universities are like Boulder, it’s just accepted that you are “one of them” (i.e. a liberal). If you’re not, your some type of nut job.

What they say – The War Against InfoWars and Free Speech – Victory Girls Blog

I never in my life thought I would be writing a post defending Alex Jones and InfoWars (no, I’m not linking to that vat of conspiritard slime – feel free to go find it yourselves). But here I am, defending their right to spew whatever foul sewage that happens to spill from their facial anuses, and I probably will need a shower in boiling Listerine to wash off the filth.

…..

Also, I will say up front – before any of you hop on my booty like Oprah on a baked ham: Facebook, Twitter, Apple, and any other private entity has the absolute right to ban any content they want at any time.

That said, we have a problem.

We have a problem with hypocrisy and with an uneven application of existing regulations to wage a war on those whose words we don’t like and whose actions we find abhorrent. We have a problem because when we take away the mike from repulsive assholes, we leave ourselves wide open to that same mike being ripped out of our hands when inevitably a sufficient number of grievance mongers finds our words offensive.

Make no mistake – Facebook, Twitter, and the like are controlled by the howling social justice zealots eager to ban anything with which they disagree and silence the voices of dissent, and their hypocrisy is deep and glaring.

Unelected guilds. As John Hinderaker noted in the linked blog post earlier this evening…

Unelected guilds and mob actions give the Left control over speech without fear of losing elections or running into the 1st Amendment.
