Clueless at the White House

We should be so lucky if the White House was only clueless when it came to Afghanistan.

When are these guys gonna start taking responsibility for their own actions. Grow up already.

“Just stop it”

I kept waiting for him to say “You can’t handle the truth”!

Ed Morrisey’s suggestion…

However, even if Bill Lockyer can’t see any way out, I see one: stop electing Democrats to the Legislature. If the state GOP doesn’t have this clip in ads by the end of next week, maybe California needs better GOP leadership, too.

I agree with the first sentence, but it will take a new type of GOP to make much difference. Perhaps it will take a new type of voter, although CA voters have previously told the legislature basically no new taxes.

Healthcare’s version of “If it moves, tax it”

Thanks for bringing this to my attention Dr. Helen (no not that kind of Dr.).

This tax includes such frivolous luxuries as pacemakers, stents, artificial heart valves, defibrillators, automated wheelchairs, mechanized artificial limbs, replacement hips and knees, surgical gurneys, laparoscopic equipment and the like.

Five questions for Michelle Maulkin

Mediate (whoever they are, and they must be somebody!) interviews Michell Maulkin. I particularly like question #3.

3. What’s the biggest story the media has missed this year? (Or last week):

Last week: Newt Gingrich’s self-dethroning as the conservative movement’s presumptive leader. Time to make way for the next generation.

Somehow I don’t think this is the “biggest” story, but it is a noteworthy one!

These two comments caught my eye (which means absolutely nothing!):

From Exasperated

Hey Malkin, Thanks for ragging on McCain throughout the campaign. He wasn’t perfect but he was a hell of a lot better than Obama. Helping split the GOP vote was helping elect the communist we now have. You are a lousy conservative and a lousy American.

and from rcl

Michelle’s call on Newt is dead on. He can finally start planning a full retirement. Unfortunately he’ll probably hang on as a paid stooge for the Old Guard until we finally hang them all.

Time for Newt to go join Bob Dole.

War on Fox generating push back

The White house war on Fox news and other conservative outlets is generating push back. No surprise there, although where some of the push back is coming from might be a little surprising…

“It’s a mistake,” said Rep. Jason Altmire, a moderate Democrat from western Pennsylvania. “I think it’s beneath the White House to get into a tit for tat with news organizations.”

Altmire was talking about the Obama administration’s efforts to undercut Fox News. But he said his remarks applied just the same to White House efforts to marginalize the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, a powerful business lobby targeted for its opposition to climate change legislation.

“There’s no reason to gratuitously piss off all those companies,” added another Democrat, Rep. Jim Moran of Virginia. “The Chamber isn’t an opponent.”

No need to worry, we have a tone deaf White House. They will truly have to put their hand on the hot burner to realize they have made a mistake. So the question is, what is the metaphor a hot burner to this administration?

Note to President Obama

It’s your rubble now.

It’s his now. He gets the credit and the blame. How do we know this? The American people are telling him. You can see it in the polls. That’s what his falling poll numbers are about. “It’s been almost a year, you own this. Fix it.”

***
The president doesn’t seem to like this moment. Who would? He and his men and women have returned to referring to what they “inherited.” And what they inherited was, truly, terrible: again, a severe economic crisis and two wars. But their recent return to this theme is unbecoming. Worse, it is politically unpersuasive. It sounds defensive, like a dodge.

No kidding. The President seems to act more un-Presidential every day. His campaign against FOX news, truly, what does it accomplish? Seems like the best and brightest could figure out this is not a path the President should be taking. Perhaps they aren’t the best and brightest. One things for certain, they truly believe they are the best and brightest, although I don’t think arrogance is very high up on the list of virtues. Hmmm, how about those tax returns?

Peggy Noonan, who was writing supportive articles about Obama prior to the election concludes…

The problem isn’t his personality, it’s his policies. His problem isn’t what George W. Bush left but what he himself has done. It is a problem of political judgement, of putting forward bills that were deeply flawed or off-point. Bailouts, the stimulus package, cap-and-trade; turning to health care at the exact moment in history when his countrymen were turning their concerns to the economy, joblessness, debt and deficits—all of these reflect a misreading of the political terrain. They are matters of political judgment, not personality. (Republicans would best heed this as they gear up for 2010: Don’t hit him, hit his policies. That’s where the break with the people is occurring.)

I wonder how she voted and if she now regrets her vote now? This actually isn’t a cynical or sarcastic question. To me, John McCain was an uninspiring candidate, but I never drank the Obama Kool-aid. Many who have, are starting to regret it, although his core base won’t waiver in their support short of nuclear armegeddon. The question is, how large is the core base? No doubt, they are loud and self assured, but that doesn’t make them either large or right. Something tells me we’re going to find out.

Supporting Scozzafava causing problems for Republican leadership

Michelle has some letters readers sent to the RNC or the NRCC regarding the committee’s support for Dede Scozzafava, who apparently could qualify as a liberal Democrat.

Sarah Palin slides in and supports Dede’s independent challenger, Doug Hoffman.

ACORN story isn’t going away

They keep running out of excuses. Don’t worry progressives, I’m sure there’s an infinite supply, at least an infinite supply you’re willing to believe!

The Scozzafava meltdown continues

Time for new Republican leadership. (what a surprise).

One thing is guaranteed at the conclusion of the NY-23 special congressional election: The Beltway Republicans who endorsed radical leftist Dede Scozzafava are going to have indelible egg stains on their faces. And GOP establishment fund-raising organizations will be the poorer for it.

Me, I’m registered as unaffiliated (or whatever the correct term is), my wife is registered as a Republican. We recently received a fund raising letter from the RNC that I believe we threw away. The next one will be returned with a few choice words. Unbelievable.

added minutes later…

According to Dan Reihl my anger directed at the National GOP is misplaced. Still, I see no issue with the National GOP, including Newt Gingrich remaining silent. There IS a good conservative candidate running.

Republican’s just do what they’re told

Yea right. Also like his use of the word “y’all”. I’m sure that’s part of his everyday vocabulary?

All Obama needs to happen his for the Democrats to do just what he accuses the Republicans of doing. Of course the odds of that look doubtful.

The Democrats’ control of a hefty majority in the Senate – plus the House – would suggest that President Barack Obama is within reach of overhauling the nation’s health care system this fall.

But the numbers mask a more complicated reality: Obama and Democratic leaders have modest leverage over several pivotal Senate Democrats who are more concerned about their next election or feel they have little to lose by opposing their party’s hierarchy.

One is still smarting from being forced to abandon next year’s election. Another had to leave the Democratic Party to stay in office. And some are from states that Obama lost badly last year.

Does it matter (the truth that is)

When it comes to operation “Smear Rush”, apparently not.

With Operation Smear Rush now complete and the damage done, “progressive” sleazemeisters are apparently ready to come clean with the truth: Limbaugh never made two key racist statements.

Those alleged remarks, which were never sourced despite being repeated on MSNBC, CNN, in many newspapers and evening newscasts, ultimately cost Rush an opportunity to bid on the NFL’s St Louis Rams.

“ACORN has lied every step of the way”

The Last Shoe drops

I think it’s the last shoe, anyway–the last stop on James O’Keefe’s and Hannah Giles’ tour of ACORN offices around the country. ACORN’s last line of defense was Philadelphia; the organization told reporters that its Philadelphia employees had kicked O’Keefe and Giles out of their office, and a number of newspapers reported that claim as fact.

(bold is mine)
Perhaps the press should try and do it’s job instead of circling the wagon around a group that is so obviously corrupt.

Added 10/22 @ 7:55am

Fox news article summarizing the release of the Philadelphia video. Acorn’s response…

Scott Levenson, a spokesman for ACORN, reiterated a Sept. 14 statement issued by Carol Hemingway, the president of ACORN’s Philadelphia chapter, saying O’Keefe and Giles were asked to leave the office and that a police report was subsequently filed.

“This is another example of Fox Entertainment treating concocted video as if it’s actually news,” Levenson told Foxnews.com. “The police report we filed contemporaneously proves our clear understanding of this scam that was being portrayed.”

And Andrew Breitbart comments…

“I can’t think of one moment where ACORN has told the truth about what James and Hannah have done,” Breitbart said. “ACORN has lied every step of the way … We are here to dispel those lies.”

And they’ve been aided/shielded almost every step of the way by the msm. Sins of omission included.

Investigate the BCS???

I’m sorry Orrin Hatch (well not really!), the words don’t escape me that describe what a stoopid idiot you are, at least on this issue, I’m just not going to use them on a public forum.

Repeat after me, “Compared to the problems of today, the BCS ranking system is NOT important”. Idiot, idiot, idiot. grrrr.

But hey, on 2nd thought, maybe it IS a good use of the Justice Department’s time. 😉
