hadn’t been on the wait list long enough and that there were people older than me that had been on the wait list longer than me…

Welcome to Obamacare. of course the United States can do it better than Canada. Or they could do it worse. Personally, I don’t want to find out, unlike most of my fellow Boulderites who can’t wait for nirvana. Be careful, you might get what you wish for.

3rd Coldest October on record

Global warming marches on.

The average October temperature of 50.8°F was 4.0°F below the 20th Century average and ranked as the 3rd coolest based on preliminary data.

That would be this October and for the United States.

“They’re worried about castration”

… with apologies to the female members of Congress.

Obamacare supporters in Congress.

It’s the fear, among power-lusting Democratic Congresspersons, that if they vote for health care they won’t be Congresspersons much past November, 2010 (or that even if they win, they will no longer be in the majority party). They’re not worried about Cadillac plans. They’re worried about castration.

And they should be.

Gold Stays over $1100

Gold broke through the $1100 barrier in Hong Kong trading, and decided to stay up there, at least for a few hours. We shall see what the morning brings.

Breaking: Hoyer admits Dems don’t have the votes for Pelosi Plan

What does this tell us? Moderates have apparently balked at the pressure Pelosi has put on them to swallow the public option and a $1.8 trillion price tag. Today’s unemployment numbers probably had something to do with that as well. Robert Reich advised Democrats to stop their push on health-care overhauls and start worrying about job losses, or risk becoming an irrelevancy in the midterms (via Instapundit). The moderates in Pelosi’s caucus probably came to that conclusion on Tuesday night.

Those moderates better not show their face in Boulder. 😉

I never thought I’d agree with Robert Reich. Of course worrying about job losses involves giving the PRIVATE SECTOR a vision of their upcoming expenses. That would involve healthcare. Catch 22? Time to stand down on Health Care reform.

Democratic panic

Full speed ahead on Obamacare and the Senate pushes the climate change bill out of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee with no Republicans present.

These are the numbers the 49 Democrats who sit in McCain districts are dissecting. The mass defection in the independent vote, the uptick in the angry-senior vote, the swing in suburban voters, the drop-off in Democratic turnout—the figures have even hot incumbent blood running cold. The White House can shout that this is not a referendum on the president’s policies. What vulnerable Democrat wants to take that chance?

The White House and the congressional leadership saw this coming, and it is why Speaker Nancy Pelosi is force-marching her health bill to a vote tomorrow. She’s not about to give her members time to absorb the ugly results, or to be further rattled by next week’s Veteran’s Day break, when they go home for a repeat of the August furies. If not now, she knows, maybe never.

I smell the panic.

Climate Bill gets passed through committee

Great. Who is going to be hiring I ask?

Taxes and penalties going up for:

  • Health care
  • Climate change bill

Does money just grow on trees?  Libs, perhaps you should pass a law demanding that private corporation hire the unemployed whether they need them or not.  The government can subsidize the whole process.

Is there no cost too high for the progressive and liberal agenda?  Didn’t think so.

Do you think money grows on trees? (Don’t answer that).

Gold is up 2 1/2x in 5 years.  Here is my bet that it will do another 2 1/2x in the next 5 years.  That would be over $2500 per oz for those of you who don’t have your calculator and the public schools didn’t teach you how to multiply.  Can you “skip count” 2 1/2x ?

Boulder is REALLY REALLY REALLY STOOPID

You really can’t make this stuff up.

Looks like the Boulder City beaurocracy was simply waiting for someone to make a stink about a neighbor cutting down trees on their own property. If a minorities complaint is part of the Boulder City bearocracy group think they sure will carry your water for you. (8:57  this isn’t saying what I mean.  I don’t mean a minority from a racial perspective, I mean what I believe to be a minority of citizens that wish to control what the actions of their neighbors).

The City staff noted…

In a memo on the proposed changes, the staff noted that several options might not be well received by the public, either because they infringe on property rights or hinder development.

“Theoretically, people are really supportive of tree protection and preserving the urban canopy,” Lokocz said. “But when it comes to a specific site, people become a lot more hesitant to say how much you should do or not do because there’s a tree there.”

What does it matter what the public thinks and what’s so bad about taking away a little more of a Boulderites property rights? They’re so well trained they meekly give them away and don’t give it a 2nd thought. No problem giving away one’s freedoms for the common collective in the City of Boulder.

I’m sure glad the City of Longmont showed in Tuesday’s election that there is a slight amount of hope that the 24 square miles surrounded by reality can be contained.

As a side note, we have lost a number of trees on one of our property lines due to too much moisture supplied by a neighbors leech field. I’ll spare you the details, but the County stated there must be an underground stream. Totally laughable, but I’d rather lose the trees than have the nanny state passing another law. Thankfully I live in the County.

What a great plan

Obamacare that is.

This raises a few problems, he said. First, if those millions somehow get covered and don’t pay the fine, then the health program is faced with a budget hole.

Second, he said, it speaks to a flaw with the insurance packages that are being offered. “If you say people would rather pay $167 billion in penalties rather than buy insurance under your new plan, what’s wrong with your new plan?” he asked.

You can’t make this stuff up.
