Invading Arizona

The Constitution is informative here. In Article IV, Section 4, the federal government is required to “protect each [state] against Invasion; and [on request of the state government] against domestic Violence.” As St. George Tucker noted, this provision guards against “the possibility of an undue partiality in the federal government,” for example a “sectional” president who might, for political reasons, decline to protect states in a certain region. Today the federal government, at the direction of the president, has declined to carry out its duty under Article IV. Leaving aside its other possible consequences, this intentional failure to protect Arizona raises the question of what action the state is now entitled to take under the Constitution.

If the MSM doesn’t report it….

did it really happen?

Union goons

Local indoctrination tells me the answer is “NO”.

Whoops, MSM should read “legacy media”.

Added 7/18@21:04: John Hinderaker comments….

It’s funny how the political class is always wringing its hands about the potential for violence at Tea Party rallies, while 100% of the actual violence and intimidation that take place at political events is committed by union goons.

Democrats block amendment to insure press access to oil spill

Why would they do this? Inquiring minds want to know.

I’m looking forward to the Daily Camera editorial board educating me on why this is OK. Believe me, if the Bush administration was doing something like this they wouldn’t be able to contain their vile.

Hint to the editorial board: If you do take up this issue, try… just for once, to do it without taking a backhanded slap at the Republicans. Thanks.

Times they are a-changin’

Fiorina Leads Boxer for First Time in California Senate Race.

If it can happen in California, it can happen anywhere. Maybe even in Colorado. Ahhh, but not in Boulder. The 24 square miles surrounded by reality are still “safe and sound”.

Give more than you get

Good karma advice from VC investor Brad Feld.

My general life philosophy has always been to “give more than I get” and hope good karma comes back my way over time.

Which brings me to one of my pet peeves that I call “keeping score”. If you’re busy keeping score of your daily interactions with people, you need to stop right now. Are you worried if “so and so” down the hall is giving you proper credit? Or who didn’t bring their fair share of food to the pot luck. It’s a losing outlook on life. It’s time to get reprogrammed. Forgive you parents, seek therapy, whatever it takes for a little more trust in your classmates, fellow workers or neighbors.

Geez, now I’m going to have to take some of my own medicine!

That’s not the same as ignoring the obvious, but in most other cases, the combination of Brad’s “give more than I get” philosophy combined with faith in your fellow man will yield great dividends.

NASA outreach and the MSM….

As Byron York reports, the NASA Mulsim outreach is a non-event with the MSM.

From a Nexis search a few moments ago:

Total words about the NASA Muslim outreach program in the New York Times: 0.

Total words about the NASA Muslim outreach program in the Washington Post: 0.

Total words about the NASA Muslim outreach program on NBC Nightly News: 0.

Total words about the NASA Muslim outreach program on ABC World News: 0.

Total words about the NASA Muslim outreach program on CBS Evening News: 0.

I’m sure we can add the Boulder Daily Camera to the list, although in all fairness I wouldn’t expect them to cover this issue.

As Instapundit states, “Doesn’t fit the narrative.”

Uncivilized entertainment

Just imagine if police and firemen failed to respond to calls. The Justice Department would have already launched a probe into civil rights violations of the poor oppressed people of the housing projects.

How’s that Hope and Change working

Judging by the changes in Party Affiliation, not too well.

I’m sure nothing of the sort is happening in Boulder!  Still an obvious message that the Progressive message/theme has run out of gas.  All I can say is “don’t let the door hit you on the way out”.

h/t to Powerline.
P.S.  No I’ve never been a registered Republican.  I’m “non-affiliated” and have registered Democratic multiple times to vote for the “least offensive” Democrat in the primaries.

Math students…. Struggling?

Math students, if you’re struggling with the “constructivist math” and want to actually learn how to use math, I suggest you visit the Kahn Academy. It has over 14,000 video’s on almost every math subject you can imagine from elementary school through Calculus. Best of all it’s free.

To learn more about the Kahn Academy and how it got started read this blog posting over at Kitchen Table Math.

I suggest the St. Vrain school district require all of their math teachers to provide students with a link to the Kahn Academy website.

Ken Salazar “Not up to the job”

Apparently all’s fair that supports the progressive agenda.

On June 10, Salazar had been forced to apologize for falsely implying that experts who peer-reviewed a Safety Report on the Deepwater Horizon rig’s explosion had endorsed his recommendation of a six-month deep-water drilling moratorium. In fact, the experts had never seen the recommendation, which was added after their involvement came to an end.

But the very next day, on June 11th, Salazar cited those experts once again in federal court documents defending the drilling moratorium.

Good grief, if a Republican had done something equivalent the good ol Daily Camera would be all over it. Isn’t that right Erika?

48% see government as a threat to individual rights

Hmmm. Not in Boulder.

Most Republicans (74%) and unaffiliateds (51%) consider the government to be a threat to individual rights. Most Democrats (64%) regard the government as a protector of rights.

Well that explains it. Especially since Boulder Democrats are even “more special” than most.
