Criminal barbers…

Criminal barbering? Raids at Orange County shops lead to arrests, raise questions

As many as 14 armed Orange County deputies, including narcotics agents, stormed Strictly Skillz barbershop during business hours on a Saturday in August, handcuffing barbers in front of customers during a busy back-to-school weekend.

It was just one of a series of unprecedented raid-style inspections the Orange County Sheriff’s Office recently conducted with a state regulating agency, targeting several predominantly black- and Hispanic-owned barbershops in the Pine Hills area.

Lions and tigers and bears, oh my.

Beam me up.

Obama shocked

Obama shocked, shocked to find true political cost of ObamaCare

Good grief, talk about tone deaf.  I guess there are a lot more Neanderthals in the US then President Obama’s brain can understand.

Boulder Micromanaging extends to trees

The new code — which must still be approved on a third reading that’s mostly a formality — specifically requires residents to provide a sod-free mulch around the base of trees that are less than 6 inches in diameter and provide enough water to keep them healthy. The rules apply to trees that are on, or adjacent to, private property and within a public right-of-way.

Read the Daily Camera coverage

Oh, and coming soon…

Charles Ferro, a land-use review manager for the city, said work will also continue on a second tree-protection ordinance that could include ways for the city to give certain trees “landmark” status and set rules for when and how trees can be removed from private property.

WHOSE PROPERTY IS IT?

It truly boggles the mind.  I’ve heard that City Council meetings routinely run close to the midnight hour.  Duh.

Is their a market for “Boulder is a Stoopid Place” t-shirts?  Probably not, too negative.  I’m sure there’s money in the 24 square miles surrounded by reality theme.

California: Too big to fail?

We’re gonna find out.  If Congress won’t bail them out, perhaps Jerry Brown and Barbara Boxer and go begging for money from the IMF.

That’s a good thing…

Agenda at risk.

Even with voting already under way, President Barack Obama furiously worked the phones to urban-format radio stations Tuesday, arguing that his agenda would be “all at risk” if Republicans trampled Democrats.

Shameful

I don’t care which party pulls these shenanigans, it’s pure and simply shameful.

Bennett, Buck and Negative Advertising

Just from casual observation, I’ve seen and heard a lot more negative advertising from Michael Bennet’s campaign than from Ken Buck. Perhaps it’s simply my viewing habits.

To me, the negative advertising has the scent of desperation. Tomorrow will tell.

Predictions….

from Peter Wehner.

On Tuesday, Democrats will suffer an epic defeat — worse even than in 1946, when Republicans gained 12 Senate seats and 55 House seats. The GOP will pick up at least 73 House seats, 10 Senate seats, and eight governorships. The GOP’s turnout will be huge and independents will break massively for Republican candidates across the country. Among Democrats, this will trigger despair and bitter recriminations. President Obama will immediately be placed on probation by his own party and may well face a serious primary challenge, just as Jimmy Carter did in 1979.

I have no idea if Peter is right or not, but we’ll find out soon enough.

This next prediction seems “spot on” and the President will no doubt be encouraged to take this position by the liberal/progrssive media.

The danger for Barack Obama is that in the wake of his party’s crushing defeat, he will show little genuine self-reflection. The president, David Axelrod, and Valerie Jarrett may well comfort themselves by telling each other, especially in their private moments, that the public — gripped by fear, irrationality, and a touch of bigotry — was not able to comprehend Obama’s true greatness. Tuesday’s results will be interpreted as a “communications” failure and laid at the feet of a bad economy, which (they will insist) Obama has nothing to do with.

Sounds like great “talking points” for the Boulder Daily Camera (and beyond).

h/t to Paul Mirengoff over at Powerline. You can read his take on Peter Wehner’s prediction here.

Legacy Media: Notes for Wednesday

How The Left Will Spin the Election Results

What you probably won’t hear, at least from many Democrats, is any admission that President Obama and his allies in Congress overreached by pushing a big-government agenda on a country skeptical of centralized government planning and bureaucracy and tired of excessive government spending.

Note to LM, you can do it!

Now when it comes to the People’s Republic, they don’t have much of an issue with “centralized government planning and bureaucracy and excessive government spending”.

Of course, I should really wait to post this as Glenn Reynolds of Instapundit keeps sayin’ “Don’t get cocky“.

No really, Don’t get cocky.  Well in this case, I DID vote.  In fact I voted early, just not often.

Oh and a h/t to Instapundit.

Well it’s actually “If you give a Democrate a Cookie” but what the hey…

It appears registration is required but if you’re a Republican or Independent it’s probably worth your time. If you live within the 24 square miles, don’t waste your time.

Many Europeans don’t get it

Europe ‘dismayed’ as midterms highlight Obama’s struggles

And that’s a good thing at least for those of us that don’t want to be like Europe. Not a lot in the 24 square miles I might add.

Margin of Cheating

In Nevada…

“Voter Joyce Ferrara said when they went to vote for Republican Sharron Angle, her Democratic opponent, Sen. Harry Reid’s name was already checked. Ferrara said she wasn’t alone in her voting experience. She said her husband and several others voting at the same time all had the same thing happen.”

In North Carolina…

“Sam Laughinghouse of New Bern said he pushed the button to vote Republican in all races, but the voting machine screen displayed a ballot with all Democrats checked. He cleared the screen and tried again with the same result, he said.”
