Boulder is a Stoopid Place

No doubt, a Department of Peace?

Is this really the government the Citizens of Boulder voted for?  Beyond stoopid.

Of course, let’s not forget iPads for City Council members.  The comments are great entertainment, at least if you’re NOT a fan of the Council members having iPads.

Well according to local venture capitalist Brad Feld, iPads are taking over the world.  He uses Boulder City Council as a (shining?) example.

Idaho, 6 Other States, to “Nullify” ObamaCare

Sweet

The other states?

Idaho is not the only state considering nullification as a remedy. Six others, including Maine, Montana, Oregon, Nebraska, Texas and Wyoming, are also considering bills that would in essence nullify the president’s signature on the reform law.

Oh, there IS this small problem…

One potential fly in the ointment for Idaho and other states considering nullification is the 1958 U.S. Supreme Court decision reaffirming that federal laws “shall be the supreme law of the land.” If nothing else, these moves will result in some interesting legal battles\

Airline/Airport Security is a joke

http://blog.seattlepi.com/airlinereporter/archives/235924.asp

….. Similar stories keep popping up and I have a feeling more will continue to do so. As passengers continue to give up their freedoms and are willing to put up with many annoyances to fly, while at the same time seeing how porous the security is behind the scenes, people will take note and demand for change.

One can only hope.  Of course there was the pilot who pointed out security holes.  Look how he’s been treated!

Also, as usual, all this security is “just for the general population” not for our governing elites.

“We’ve had some incidents where TSA authorities think that congresspeople should be treated like everybody else,” he said. “Well, the fact of the matter is, we are held to a higher standard in so many other areas, and I think we need to take a hard look at exactly how the TSA interact with members of Congress.”

Tequila Party

Read about the Tequila Party over at the Boulder Daily Camera.

How an organization that ignored the Tea Party for months can be one of the first to report on this group reflects on both the paper and the bias of their editorial page.  Talk about going from being miles behind the wave to being miles in front of it.  No doubt editorial page bias isn’t an issue

Google Hits:

Tea Party:                               26,500,000
Tea Party Colorado:                 2,410,000
Tequila Party                               130,000
Boulder is a Stoopid Place        1,530,000

One must wonder how many Google hits there were on the phrase ‘Tea Party’ when the editorial staff decided it was time to admit that such an entity existed.  The same question goes for general news reporting.

Good news for the Daily Camera, both Time Magazine and Harry Reid predict the Tea Party will disappear!  You can slip that into your next editorial.

24 Hours to clear the sidewalk: Boulder is a Stoopid Place

Boulder approves 24-hour snow-removal rule, effective immediately

I am so glad I don’t live in Boulder proper.  Note to City Council, there really are more important things you should be doing, but eh, guess it’s better for you to be improving your relationship with the citizenry that elected you.   It would be really nice if the City of Boulder could even pretend to clear it’s own streets but of course they don’t get fined for doing such a pitiful job.

Some blowback from the elecorate would be nice but I’d say the odds are higher that the Sun will “go super-nova” tomorrow.

No, I’m not insensitive to the case of made for the elderly.  My 85 year old Mom slipped on ice many years ago and broker her hip, although these regulation wouldn’t have helped.

Who is big enough to bail out the United States?

Moody’s, S&P issue warning to US on bond ratings

That’s not just gloomy speculation, either. As Steve Eggleston wrote earlier this week, Social Security has run cash deficits for most of 2010, meaning that the SSA has paid benefits mostly through borrowing. It will take a big hit in revenue this year, thanks to the 2% “holiday” created by the tax deal in the lame-duck session. Unless we maintain our bond rating or if we cut other spending enough to get the cash from the general fund, we may wind up having a big problem in covering those liabilities.

What could go wrong?

Obamacare: Only the “right” kind of Hospitals allowed

We’re starting to find out why it took 2200 pages…

Obamacare Ends Construction of Doctor-Owned Hospitals

This little-noticed but particularly egregious aspect of Obamacare is, by all accounts, a concession to the powerful American Hospital Association (AHA), a supporter of Obamacare, which prefers to have its member hospitals operate without competition from hospitals owned by doctors. Dr. Michael Russell, president of Physician Hospitals of America, which has filed suit to try to stop this selective building-ban from going into effect, says, “There are so many regulations [in Obamacare] and they are so onerous and intrusive that we believe that the section [Section 6001] was deliberately designed so no physician owned hospital could successfully comply.”

Artz writes, “According to Russell, the AHA, along with Sen. [Max] Baucus (D-MT) and Congressman Pete Stark (D-CA), are responsible for the language in Section 6001.” But the responsibility for all aspects of the overhaul primarily lies with outgoing-House speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate majority leader Harry Reid, and, particularly, Obamacare’s principal champion, President Barack Obama.  (emphasis added – ed)

The list just grows of the idiotic rules in Obamacare.  It’s a damn good thing “they” passed the bill so we could find out what the hell was in it.  Who in the hell is gonna save us from the government?  Of course the revolution will be over before Boulder figures out it started.

The local Newspaper totally ignored the Tea Party for months, sorta like an ostrich that sticks its head in the sand.  Of course they can get away with it as they know their audience, gotta give them credit for that.
