Barack Obama’s blue-state blues

In Democratic strongholds from Vermont to California — not to mention New York City, where the president helped sink his party’s nominee in Tuesday’s special election — Obama isn’t quite tanking, but he’s moving unmistakably in the wrong direction.

It’s nice to know Democrats have a threshold of pain when it comes to President Obama. In Boulder, probably not so much. It’s that 24 square miles surrounded by reality thing.

House Dems introduce bill to eliminate debt ceiling

Sweet.

“Republicans in Congress have shown they are willing to hold the fate of our economy hostage by using the debt ceiling as a political weapon. It’s a tactic that has far ranging effects, disrupting financial markets, damaging the peoples’ trust in government and delaying consideration of must-pass legislation to create jobs and get our economy back on track,” Moran said.

Damaging people’s trust in government? You truly can’t make this stuff up.

Proposed police entry when keg visible

For the time being this is a proposal in Madison, WI. How long until it’s proposed in Boulder?

Downtown Alcohol Policy Coordinator Mark Woulf said police wanted the ability to enter house parties with visible kegs, especially in situations where kegs could entice more people to come and make parties “even more out of control.”

Obama: ‘I’d like to work my way around Congress’

Crony Capitalism Obama Style

Betsy summarizes the Solyndra situation and the deserved black eye the administration is receiving.

I like this quote from Jennifer Rubin…

The story is a dangerous one for the Obama administration for multiple reasons. First, it is in fact the quintessential crony capitalism story that personifies the unseemly conflict of interests that arise between pols and donors. Second, it highlights the absence of business acumen in the administration. This is its idea of how government “creates” jobs? Third, the initial White House response, that it was totally hands-off, was a lie. That’s never a comfortable place for the White House. And finally, it provides fodder to the Tea Party Republicans who have been railing about this sort of behavior for some time and now have further grounds for criticizing the permanent political class.

The Obama Economy and Self-Imposed Headwinds

As Instapundit says, great cartoon. But even better is the great first comment.

Until the last three years, I never really understood the amount of hatred that has been taught and fomented towards people who make business their career. As an entrepreneur, I always presumed that–in building products that customers decided created value for them–I was creating a social good. I never expected a medal or a parade, but I thought there was some generally accepted belief that what I was doing was a net positive. And so I happily toiled away, getting immense personal joy from building companies.
What an idiot I was ! It has become clear that we have an entire generation (or two?) or university grads indoctrinated to believe that all business is exploitation. It seems that the implosion of the Soviet system only served to remove the “reality check” from the preachers of Marxists/Critical Theory who dominate the American university, and the result was a generational army for Obama.
Note to Leftists: when the U.S. government declares “WAR” against business people, we don’t fight back….we just quit. One result–my annual federal income tax payments: 2007 > $500,000; 2008 > $500,000; 2009 = $0; 2010 = $0; 2011 = $0 (actually, I expect a rebate/credit of over $20,000).
Why should I risk my savings and work 100+ hours/week, when I can just buy gold and profit from the U.S.’s devaluation and dilution of its currency? Why should I innovate in building a business, when I can profit more and risk less by innovating in tax strategies and macro/currency trading?
I no longer feel any responsibility to create jobs and investments in the US–it’s hard to generate patriotic loyalty to a country whose leadership has declared me “the enemy”.

Can you say “Going Galt”? I know you can. Does it leave a bitter taste in your mouth?

More on Port Longview Union Thuggery by the Internation Longshore and Warehouse Union

U.S. District Judge Ronald Leighton issued a preliminary injunction to restrict union activity, saying there was no defense for the aggressive tactics used in recent days.

and more…

Leighton said he felt like a paper tiger because the International Longshore and Warehouse Union clearly ignored a temporary restraining order he issued last week with similar limits. He scheduled a hearing for next Thursday to determine whether the union should be held in civil contempt.

“The regard for the law is absent here,” the judge said. “Somebody is going to be hurt seriously.”

Spoiled brats and bullies ignore the law.

Want more jobs?

Common sense.

What is remarkable is how quickly jobs would be created, if only the federal government would get out of the way:

No reason to be hopeful with the current administration.

Vetoing nanny state laws!

Amazing, simply amaazing, Governor Jerry Brown pushes back on the nanny state. Both hands clapping.

h/t Ann Althouse.

Added 9/10@16:00
Think that Boulder City and County government can learn anything from Governor Browns actions. Not likely, at least until people like Mark Gelband are elected.

Lincoln founder of the Republican Party?

The legacy media’s treatment of President Obama vs. Mike Huckabee.

Stop carrying the President’s water and do your job. Hint, it might just require getting out the other side of the bed (ok, I settle for scooting off the end), realizing that the NY Times is NOT god’s gift to journalism (I use a small ‘g’ on purpose) and bookmarking a few well run libertarian and conservative blogs. I would recommend Instapundit and Pajama’s media.

Oh, and here’s a good Pajama’s Medical article on the ever growing Gunwalker scandal.

Every American, regardless of political ideology, should be livid that the FBI gave at least $70,000 of “seed money” to murderous felons so that they could buy firearms. The FBI knew these weapons were destined for narco-terrorists, and that they would be used to target not just other murderous cartels but to terrorize innocents.

The wonderful Legacy Media alters transcript of Obama speech…

On and this would be the government funded version of the legacy media.

It’s amaazing, just effing amaazing. Our tax dollars at work. These msm/legacy media journalists are non-biased, no agenda. Riight? Riiight?

Update: So they posted the prepared speech not the transcript. Lazy? History here.

White House floods reporters’ inboxes after Obama’s jobs speech

So when the Daily Camera’s inevitable editorial supporting Obama’s “Pass the Bill” jobs bill and implying Republican’s are neanderthals appears, most likely this Sunday, one hopes they will disclose how many spam e-mails they received from the White House and their cronies. That would include both business and personal e-mail addresses.

The White House Press Office sent nearly 50 e-mails to reporters overnight with statements of support from the president’s allies, including The International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Democratic lawmakers, The Center for American Progress, the mayor of San Francisco and members of Obama’s own Council on Jobs and Competitiveness.

One reporter complained that “The White Press Office has vomited all over my Inbox”. Inquiring minds want to know if it’s possible for this White House Press Office to “vomit all over” the Inbox of our local media members? Color me skeptical.

More on Union Thuggery at Port of Longview

John Hinderaker concludes

This is the ugly face of union privilege and entitlement that the Obama administration is determined to preserve.

Also, since this is apparently not being reported by the legacy media, no doubt the local progressive media and a vast majority of Boulder citizens have no idea this thuggery has occurred. Just trying to enlighten…

Thugs in action

Taking hostages and destroying property.

Can this possibly help the Union cause, the Democrats or the President?
