Brutal irony

President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign is asking artists to design promotional posters that convey a message: “support American jobs.” The brutal irony for artists, however, is that they will receive no payment for their work.

The campaign, which has $61 million on hand, will reward only the three artists whose work is selected for use. The compensation? A copy of their artwork, signed by the president.

EU Leak Shows Wind, Solar Energy to Double Power Bills

Average electricity prices for households and businesses would rise “strongly up to 2020-2030” under all scenarios, the document says, and the highest prices would occur after 2030 if renewable sources of power, such as wind and solar, make up a large share of energy production. For example, average prices for households could jump by more than 100 per cent by 2050 if this were the case but only by 43 per cent under a scenario that assumed more nuclear power and carbon capture and storage were used.

This will not make Europeans happy, and it is unlikely that American consumers will be lining up for a 100% electricity hike anytime soon. Those prices are also not going to help manufacturers stay competitive, and they are not going to boost the prospects of the electric car industry.

Inquiring minds want to know, if Europeans aren’t happy will Boulderites be happy? My vote is that Boulderites THINK they will be happy…. because they’re stoopid.

Keith Olbermann: Paid $10 Million to Lose Viewers

Sweet.

Keith Olbermann is not in the witness protection program, but he might as well be. His show on Al Gore’s Current TV (America’s least watched network) has lost nearly a third of its viewers in four months.

Pretty impressive result for $10 million a year. That’s just his salary.

It’s nice he’s taking down Al Gore’s Current TV with him.

Deloitte surveyed 13,000 consumers from 17 countries in Asia, Europe and North America. The most shocking bit of data, perhaps, is Deloitte’s discovery that less than four percent of consumers would be satisfied with today’s electric vehicles. Of course, companies selling electric vehicles would probably be very excited to have a four percent market share, but that’s another issue.

BREAKING: An IPCC backchannel ‘cloud’ was apparently established to hide IPCC deliberations from FOIA.

CEI has learned of a UN plan recently put in place to hide official correspondence on non-governmental accounts, which correspondence a federal inspector general has already confirmed are subject to FOIA. This ‘cloud’ serves as a dead-drop of sorts for discussions by U.S. government employees over the next report being produced by the scandal-plagued IPCC, which is funded with millions of U.S. taxpayer dollars.


Settled science and all, what is there to hide? The light of day is definitely something these guys are afraid of.

Tea Party vs. Occupy Idiots

As I watched the ragtag group file in, escorted by police, I remembered a Tea Party rally in front of the state capitol in downtown Atlanta, only a few blocks away. There the police and state troopers were omnipresent amidst a group of suburbanites occupying flag-adorned lawn chairs on the sidewalk and listening to speeches about politically legitimate efforts in overturning health care legislation and enforcing immigration laws. Complaints from the podium were specifically about government actions, like taking over the private company, General Motors.

Back then, amidst the flags and bunting, the police were omnipresent, with prison vehicles at the ready and parked along the streets that were the pathway to the prearranged site. Police were omnipresent as the Pledge of Allegiance was recited. They were quite visible as the National Anthem and America the Beautiful were sung, and as prayers for our country were sent up to heaven.

The police stood around, looking relaxed.

The Tea Partiers never blocked a street, and left quietly down the sidewalks after their allotted time, leaving no traces, picking up trash that may have been dropped inadvertently.

The Tea Party never occupied public land illegally. They assembled peacefully with permits arranged beforehand. Yet the media repeatedly characterized them as “angry,” “extremist,” and “racist.”

The police officers probably welcomed the Tea Party gigs as a respite. In contrast, I can only imagine the indignity of having a punk holding up a camera in your face as you try to protect a hospital from a mob. But the Soros-supported organization, Cop Watch, trains extreme leftists to create or exacerbate conflicts with police and record them in order to make claims of police brutality. These guys seemed to be itching for valuable footage.

But I know what I did see: a mob of lawbreakers impeding those who were trying to save lives. And there was no punishment.


Spoiled self centered brats and professional activists. I can sum it up in one word… “LOSERS”. Then we have the local governments, we can call the “ENABLERS”. PATHETIC.

Darren over at Right on the Left Coast posts about his experience using “Discovery Math” techniques. I would be thrilled to have Darren as my daughters math intructor. Direct Instruction, BRING IT ON.

I would really like to see how my daughter would thrive in that environment. As a sophomore, she is taking Trig and Pre-Calculus this year and while the instruction is better than I anticipated, in all her years she has never had anything approaching a pure direct instruction environment.

Heartless Conservatives: NOT

Ah, except that it is conservatives in the role of good guy and the Old Media can’t have that, now can they?

The Greater Boston Food Bank intended to hold a fundraising event in Boston’s Dewey Square over the weekend of the 14th of October. It was to be called the “Greenway Mobile Food Fest” and designed to fundraise for those in need, but due to the tantrums being thrown by the Occupy Boston protestors the event had to be canceled. Despite the selfishness of these pointless, clueless protesters, though, conservative bloggers stepped in and raised over $3,000 for the food bank. So where is the media on this story? Isn’t this a perfect sort of human-interest story that media types usually love?

The media should love this. It’s got clueless, uninformed, cretins hurting an organization that helps feed the needy. It has a more caring group rising to the challenge to help replace those lost donations. Perfect story, right? As of midnight October 15, this is the only coverage of the Greater Boston Food Bank and Occupy Boston. Only four stories (one web, two print, one local broadcast) on how the protest impeded the charity’s ability to help those in need, the same individuals for whom Occupy Boston claims to stand.
