On voting down Prop 103. … and damn proud of it.

Tax Increases….

Proposition 103 going down in flames across the state…”.

Michelle Malkin comments.

Local to Boulder, with the County’s refusal to pave subdivisions, both PineBrook Hills and Crestview Estates had ballot issues to create Local Improvement Districts and effectively tax themselves to pave their roads. Interestingly enough, in both neighborhoods these measure went down to landslide defeats by 85% against, 15% for margins.

Hell, if Prop 103 66/33 margin of defeat is “going down in flames” what’s the proper metaphor for these neighborhood elections with 85/15 margins?

“Would Jonathan Martin, Maggie Haberman, Anna Palmer and Kenneth Vogel have put their names on a similar piece, with no named sources, aimed at Barack Obama?”

Inquiring minds, especially Glenn Reynolds, wants to know…

Would Politico have run it? I think we know the answer.”

City can’t handle sewage

… but Boulderite’s want them to handle their electricity?

Read Daniel Blum and Nancy Brenckman’s letter to the editor.
Vote NO on 2B and 2C.

On a side note, how interesting that Erika Stutzman hands her editorial space over to PLAN Boulder immediately before the election. Unbelievable. (note, I haven’t seen a print copy of the paper)

Rural rebellion brewing

In California

These rural folks, living in the shadow of the majestic Mount Shasta, believe that they are being driven away so that their communities can essentially go back to the wild, to conform to a modern environmentalist ethos that puts wildlands above humanity. As the locals told it during the Defend Rural America conference Oct. 22 at the Siskiyou Golden Fairgrounds, environmental officials are treading on their liberties, traipsing unannounced on their properties, confronting ranchers with guns drawn to enforce arcane regulatory rules and destroying their livelihoods in the process.

Certainly the Boulder County Commissioners would like rural Boulder County to go “back to the wild”. Allocating their spending priorities as shown..

2000 Boulder County Budget:
– Road Fund = $2,620,709
– Social Services Fund = $2,325,001

2011 Boulder County Budget:
– Road and Bridge Fund = $1,075,955
– Social Services Fund = $6,536,717

…is their first step in the battle to make living in the County prohibitively expensive.

Occupy Denver turns violent

Wow…

Can’t wait to hear about this in the local paper. Hopefully they will remind us how violent the Tea Party rallies have been.

Culture of entitlement

From an insurance agent bulletin board…

Friend of the family has 2 mercedes benz cars, a race car and a trailer but no health insurance. He’s also had stents and his wife is in poor health. I offered my advice and it went in one ear and out the other. Many people have the dough to purchase health insurance but they dont want it until they’re admitted in the ER… and some dont even want it then. I’m sick of everybody wanting something for nothing. Ok rant done back to selling Medicare.

;

… way too many people like this.

Romneycare surviving thanks to the Feds…

Massachusetts Treasurer Blasts RomneyCare and, Equivalently, ObamaCare

“If President Obama and the Democrats repeat the mistake of the health insurance reform here in Massachusetts on a national level, they will threaten to wipe out the American economy within four years,” Cahill said in a press conference in his office.

No problem, we’ll just print more money or borrow it from China. Crazy.

Poll: Obamacare support hits all-time low

Sweet!

Support for President Obama’s health care reform law has reached an all time low, in part because of Democrats’ diminished faith that the law will improve their lives, a new poll by the Kaiser Family Foundation finds.

I’m sure nothing’s changed in Boulder.

“… the role of the indiviual on one hand and the role of government and collective institutions on the other”

This is “SO BOULDER”….

“There has been a shift in the philosophy and attitudes of the public from a belief in individual responsibility, from a beleif in a society in which the roll of government was as an umpire, to a belief in a society in which the emphasis is on social responsibility and the role of government as big brother and protecter of of the individual”

Do I need to repeat myself? Now if only it was just SO BOULDER, but unfortunately, it is SO PROGRESSIVE and SO OBAMA too.

Well, almost everyone who comes is an outsider.

They are:

and

Judge James Klein

I feel sure I’ll never be on jury duty in his courtroom. Of course, I’d have to admit to this blog. We shall see.

Blame Wall Street

While not blameless, Wall Street is an easy scapegoat. And investment houses that made billions slicing and dicing mortgages into CDOs, derivatives, credit default swaps and other exotic paper are easy to demonize. But the problem wasn’t these financial instruments. Or even the obscene profits they generated. Mortgage-backed securities were nothing new, and we’ve always had speculation in the market.

The problem was the underlying assets: low-quality mortgages. We’ve never had so many junk home-loans poisoning the financial well before. And who poisoned the well? Washington and its affordable-housing policies.
