President Obama’s energy policy – Coming soon to a ctiy near you!

This debacle proves to be the epitome of President Obama’s energy policy—give preference to financially unsustainable, politically connected green energy companies over proven, revenue generating sources of energy. Sadly, as these green energy companies go bankrupt at the expense of the American taxpayer, it only further bankrupts the country.

World’s Largest Solar Power Plant Goes Bankrupt

Certainly all the brainpower and enlightenment in Boulder can’t hold a candle to “the one”!??? Citizens of Boulder, meet the future of municipalization. Of course, everything’s different here because the citizens and the local paper won’t actually ask the hard questions.

John Hinderaker: Sets up the “Illegal Donation” Obama campaign web site

As you can imagine, it’s no longer there, but here’s a screen shot and you can read about it over at Powerline.

John concludes…

It is inconceivable that the Obama campaign disables all credit card security measures (unlike every other presidential campaign) for any reason other than to facilitate violations of the campaign finance laws. The Obama campaign has deliberately set up its fundraising system so that legal contribution limits can easily be circumvented, and illegal contributions from foreign nationals can be accepted. It is ironic that Democrats fulminate about Citizens United and the need for disclosure of donors to non-campaign-related organizations, when the Obama re-election campaign is one gigantic fraud, structured to facilitate violation of federal campaign finance laws.

Scott Johnson: The Obama campaign even went the extra mile to raise campaign funds by failing to adopt standard protections against fraudulent and illegal giving.

Ed note – I’ve sat on this a few days, first because I wanted to see Adrian Murray’s Facebook posting and then because I’ve been on vacation and traveling. Of course during that time it’s pretty much gone viral, except I feel sure it hasn’t invaded the 24 square miles surrounded by reality.

Imagine that. In today’s blog post titled Dubious Donations, Scott examines the efforts (basically none) that the Obama campaign took to comply with Federal Election laws in the 2008 campaign and apparently in the 2012 campaign as well.

From the 2008 campaign:

All of which prompted an enterprising reader to test the controls put in place to enforce compliance with federal campaign law by the Obama and McCain campaigns. He decided to conduct an experiment. He went to the Obama campaign Web site and made a donation under the name “John Galt” (the hero of Ayn Rand’s novel Atlas Shrugged). He provided the equally fictitious address “1957 Ayn Rand Lane, Galts Gulch, CO 99999.” He checked the box next to $15 and entered his actual credit-card number and expiration date. He was then taken to the next page and notified that his donation had been processed. Others repeated “John Galt’s” experiment, giving to Obama under such fictitious names as Della Ware, Joe Plumber, Idiot Savant, Ima BadDonation (with a Canadian bank card) and Fake Donor.

The Obama campaign was able to take these donations because it had turned off the standard Address Verification System that screens credit-card charges for matching names and addresses. (It can also screen cards issued by foreign banks.) The McCain campaign used AVS and provided a searchable database of all donors, including those who fell below the $200 threshold. The Obama campaign chose not to use the AVS system to screen donations. (The McCain campaign rejected such donations through the use of the AVS system.) You can find a good description of the AVS and CVV fraud prevention devices here.

Well not much has changed between 2008 and 2012 as Scott reports. While I can’t find the exact quote Scott uses, I found the same basic message on Adrian Day’s facebook page. From a March 31st posting…

The fraud continues. Just went to barackobama.com and donated $3 using the name Adolph Hitler, 123 Nuremburg Way, Berlin, Germany and for good measure put in Dictator of Nazi Party as employer. Got an email back saying Dear Adolph, Thank you for your generous donation….

The point? To prevent credit card fraud, merchants require that the address match what the credit card issuer has on file. Called the Address Verification System (AVS), an additional layer of protection requires the three digit security code. The Obama team has disabled the AVS so anyone anywhere in the world can anonymously donate to his campaign, thereby exceeding campaign donation limits and violating federal finance laws. They pulled the same stunt in 2008, but the media wouldn’t report it.

and Adrian comments on his posting…

Just tried it on Romney’s site using Barack Obama, 1400 Pennsylvania Ave, President (should have said Dictator), United States. Got a message back saying the address didn’t match.

And of course, since that time we have a video of the different standards for accepting donations. Obama Donations, Anytime, Anywhere

Why WOULD the Obama administration disable all credit card security features to allow donations? This effectively opens up donations world wide and allows evasion of campaign contribution limits.

Where is the main stream/legacy media when it comes questioning “the one”? It seems to me your ideology is so important that I wonder what type of egregious action President Obama would have to take to get your panties in a bunch? As long as it’s “for the cause” it’s pretty damn hard to imagine what he would have to do for the msm/legacy media to ask questions that might put “the one” in a bad light.

Niwot High School Diversity Day

Michael Brown uncovers Niwot HS Diversity Day. Inquiring minds want to know why are they hiding their agenda from the students parents and guardians? Follow the link for the above agenda.

Michael concludes:

This entire Diversity Day strikes me as another attempt at inculcating students with political correctness. Considering how most of the presenters prevaricate about their presentations, and the organizer “doesn’t know me” and until she does, won’t give any information, the stench of political correctness seems to be running through Niwot High School. The best way to clear that stench is to make public what’s going on up there in the public schools.

You can make your own judgement about these topics, the fairness and objectivity with which they will be dealt, and whether or not students should be able to “opt out” of these workshops.

I’ll keep you posted as I get more information from the presenters and the organizer.

I’m looking forward to futher updates from Michael.

And here’s the first update. One must wonder why Longmont City Council is spending money on a school that’s not within their city limits?

“With 98 percent of the world’s oil reserves in the hands of other countries…”

Such a statement should prevent this editorial being published in any creditable newspaper. Only Barack Obama and his minions are stoopid enough to believe this idiocy.

Of course, the editorial staff of the Boulder Daily Camera do qualify as Obama minions.

Minions, you can read some Washington post fact checking if you care to expand your mind beyond what “the one” feeds you.

John Hinderaker at Powerline also piles on (it’s so easy) regarding the 2% statement and follows up with some education on the definition of reserves…

This is a flat-out lie, for the reasons we have explained a number of times. Obama’s nose has gotten so long on this one that even the liberal press is beginning to take offense.

and

What Kessler says is correct, but he omits one key fact: in the United States, unlike other countries, “reserves” is a term of art governed by securities law, and petroleum that is not legally accessible under current laws and regulations does not count toward our “reserves.”

C’mon minions, stop carrying Obama’s water and ask him some questions and present us with some semblance of the truth. Of course, the great thing about being an editorialists is you don’t have to give a damn about the truth, you just have to be a good debater and in many cases willfully ignorant of educated arguments against your point of view if not simply the truth.

Not to mention she’s a Department Director for Boulder County Community services and she has a direct interest in the proposed North Boulder Homeless housing project.

So in her guest editorial in the Boulder Daily Camera, the only disclosure is that she lives in Boulder? Really? Amateur hour at the Daily Camera. Pathetic.

Constitutionality of Obamacare

More importantly, 72 percent of Americans believe that the law’s individual mandate to purchase health insurance is unconstitutional, including 56 percent of Democrats.

Worrying about Colorado’s budget?

One has to wonder why Erika Sutzman worries about Colorado’s budget but is silent on the Federal budget.

Erika, why STOP at Colorado’s budget? Why NOT the Federal budget? Oh, I remember, it’s the DEMOCRATS who refuse to present a budget to either the house of the Senate for how long? If it was a Republican administration that refused to present a budget your readers would be subject to a constant barrage of editorials reminding your readers of the administration’s dereliction of duty.

Stop giving the Obama administration a pass because if you and the rest of the liberal/progressive media don’t start doing your job, no one’s going to give damn about Colorado’s budget.

How much does your health insurance cost?

If you’re self employed or have an individual plan, you already know. If you work for an employer with group coverage, most likely you don’t. I suggest becoming knowledgeable by asking your HR department what is the total cost of your health insurance and other benefits (life, dental/vision, disability).

Why?

One, it’s good to have a reference point as to what the cost of your benefits actually is.

Two, if you are terminated, you’ll know how much your COBRA benefits will cost. Be prepared.

I believe tHese costs should be on every paycheck. Yes, I realize your portion of the benefit is on the paycheck, but I mean the total cost (employer plus employee) of your benefits should be on every paycheck.

Measles in Europe

U.S. travelers to Olympics may bring home measles, CDC warns

Measles strikes worldwide but is of special concern in Western Europe, Wallace says. The disease had been under control there until a 1998 paper in the British medical journal The Lancet purported a link between autism and the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine. It also said the vaccine caused gastrointestinal disorders in children.
Vaccination rates fell after the paper gained widespread publicity. It was later revealed that Andrew Wakefield, the main author, had faked his research. The paper was retracted in 2010, and Wakefield was banned from practicing medicine. Vaccination rates are again rising in Europe, but in England and France they remain too low to fully control the disease.

Thanks Mr. Wakefield.

Obama Still Lying About Mother’s Health Insurance Problem

Why oh why am I not suprised that he keeps lying about his Mom and health insurance company in his new campaign documentary edited by Tom Hanks.

Repeat after me: Barack Obama’s mother NEVER had an issue with her health insurance paying claims. Barack Obama’s mother NEVER had an issue with her health insurance paying claims. Barack Obama’s mother NEVER had an issue with her health insurance paying her claims.

Point 1:

President Obama’s willingness to falsify the facts about a personal tragedy in order to make a political point speaks volumes about not only his cynicism but also his character. It’s important to remember that this is no misunderstanding but rather a bald-faced lie.

Point 2:

President Obama never apologized for his original lie. He just assumed, rightly it turns out, that even though this whopper was uncovered by the New York Times, neither that paper nor the rest of the liberal mainstream media would pursue the matter further as they almost certainly would (and should have) had his Republican predecessor been found out in a similar matter. Thus encouraged, he has now repeated the falsehood, albeit artfully recast in an attempt to avoid blame.

Jonathin Tobin concludes:

Having won election and then rammed his ObamaCare bill through Congress in part on the strength of this false argument, he has doubled down on it with the lie now coming from the lips of American’s favorite everyman, actor Tom Hanks as well as in edited clips of interviews with the president and his wife. Kessler gives the performance three out of a possible four Pinocchios on his scale of accuracy. This seems a bit generous but the point is that the story proves that Obama is willing to do and/or say anything, even lying about the death of his mother, in order to gain an advantage. That he thinks repeating the lie will help him get re-elected says a lot about what he thinks of the intelligence of the American people and the integrity of the press that failed to vet him the first time around.

No doubt the local paper will continue to carry Obama’s water for him. Ahh, the integrity of the press (and the arrogance that comes with it).

Oh and let’s put a plug in for insurance companies while were at it. The individual policy that I personally own has paid for 3 surgeries and 8 hospital stays for my daughter. Well I guess I can’t say they have paid for the last surgery as she just got home on Saturday (she’s doing fine). Only TWO issues the whole time. One was taken care of before I was aware of a problem, the other did take up some time, but basically came down to an ambulance company and the insurance company not being able to communicate. One PITA cliam and I’m sure well over $300,000 paid out.

I can’t believe New Yorker’s are this stoopid

Food police

DHS Commissioner Seth Diamond says the ban on food donations is consistent with Mayor Bloomberg’s emphasis on improving nutrition for all New Yorkers. A new interagency document controls what can be served at facilities — dictating serving sizes as well as salt, fat and calorie contents, plus fiber minimums and condiment recommendations.

Most likely Michael Bloomberg would be welcomed with open arms in Boulder as this is micromanaging that Boulder Progressives love. Which brings us to the subtitle of this blog…

“So why do intelligent people consistently make such a hash of things? Because they are smart enough to talk themselves into anything. Ordinary mortals don’t engage in fancy mental gymnastics to reach conclusions that defy common sense. But intellectuals are particularly prone to this.” (Shikka Dalmia, Reason Mag, 10/4/2011)
