Michael Platt: “”It’s very hard to have infinite faith in money when money is being created infinitely””

Michael Platt from BlueCrest Capital Management.(Bloomberg video) When asked about the safety of US Government debt, he comments on the 30 year bond..

“I’m not going US Goverment bonds, it’s very interesting I had a dinner once with a guy who wrote a book when US yields were 15% in 30 years and everyone uniformly hated the bond market, and he described the market as the buy of a lifetime. He sold 170 copies, nobody wanted to know at 15%. Now were down here at these kind of yields ya know what, nobody wants to hear about being short, and it just feels kinda very similar.”

Chris Matthews needs to find a new job

Post-debate, MSNBC’s Matthews claims Romney supporters fueled by racial hatred of Obama

“I think they hate Obama. They want him out of the White House more than they want to destroy Al Qaeda. Their No. 1 enemy in the world right now, on the right, is their hatred, hatred for Obama. And we can go into that about the white working class in the South and looking at these numbers we’re getting the last couple days about racial hatred in many cases … this isn’t about being a better president, they want to get rid of this president,’ he said.”

Grow up Chris, although I suppose it’s to late for that.

Solyndra vs. Taxpayers: Solyndra 1, Taxpayer da big ZERO

Bankruptcy court update: Taxpayers to recover a grand total of $0 from Solyndra

Solyndra managed to hang on just long enough to re-arrange things so investers (some who just happened to be White House visitors) got to jump ahead of taxpayers in the line to recover some money in the inevitable event of a bankruptcy.

Sweet. The Obama administration flushing taxpayer money down the toilet. Thanks.

Rasmussen: Romney 50% Obama 46%

Daily Presidential Tracking Poll

Other than brief convention bounces, this is the first time either candidate has led by more than three points in months.

“But for a campaign that is very sophisticated in its fund-raising capabilities, they do not make one effort to try to even see or ask somebody to check a box that says they are a US citizen.”

Obama campaign accepted foreign Web donation — and may be hiding more

The Obama re-election campaign has accepted at least one foreign donation in violation of the law — and does nothing to check on the provenance of millions of dollars in other contributions, a watchdog group alleges.

Chris Walker, a British citizen who lives outside London, told The Post he was able to make two $5 donations to President Obama’s campaign this month through its Web site while a similar attempt to give Mitt Romney cash was rejected. It is illegal to knowingly solicit or accept money from foreign citizens.

Nothing to see here, move along said the Obama campaign to the main stream media. Like good little sheeple, that’s exactly what they have done and continue to do.

Boulderites: Marijuana news you can use

Obama Administration Speaks Out on Marijuana Ballot Measures: Federal Raids Are Here to Stay

The conclusion:

But if Cole is not actually saying anything different than what he’s said in the past, then the DOJ will continue to go after medical (and soon, perhaps, non-medical) marijuana dispensaries with large client lists, because these are what Cole is referring to when he says “large-scale drug dealers.” Not cartels or drug rings, but dispensaries.

If history is any guide, we’ll see more federal raids in Colorado and Washington if recreational marijuana is legalized, because we’ll most definitely see more “large-scale drug dealing,” AKA state-legal businesses selling to consumers in an open, state-legal market.

Ohio

Ohio: Yet, in this Democrat-stronghold of 3,000 in the shadow of a massive steel plant hugging the Ohio River, hundreds of “Romney for President” signs clutter front yards, the few remaining small businesses and vacant brownfields.

Romney at 50% in Colorado

Rasmussen: Colorado: Romney 50%, Obama 46%

Mitt Romney has now reached the 50% mark for the first time in Colorado and leads President Obama by four in the critical swing state.

I found this tidbit of interest…

Romney is the overwhelming favorite of voters who worry the government will do too much, while the president is far ahead among those who fear the government won’t do enough.

Which explains the very expected endorsements of the Denver Post and the Boulder Daily Camera for President Obama. Of course, if you really believe in the power of endorsement, the Denver Post endorsement only came out on Sunday so any effect it will have on voters will have to wait until the next poll. One would have to be from another planet to be surprised by the Post’s endorsment.

My bike ride: Republican vs. Democratic yard signs

On my 12 milebike ride in the Table Mountain area north of Boulder, Republican yard signs outnumber Demcratic signs about 3:1. Stunning.

That doesn’t include the two very large signs on farmland on Highway 36 just north of the intersection of 36 and Nebo road.

Sweet.

Planned Parenthood and mammograms

Thousands call Planned Parenthood for mammograms after Obama’s claim

Just one small problem…

“When Gov. Romney says that we should eliminate funding for Planned Parenthood, there are millions of women all across the country who rely on Planned Parenthood for not just contraceptive care, they rely on it for mammograms,” said Obama Oct. 16 during the second presidential debate.

Planned Parenthood does not actually provide women with mammograms, but refers patients out to other facilities for the exam.

Whoops.

Helen Smith: “Many of those on the left who are female would sell their soul for a package of free birth control pills and some morning after pills given out to teens on demand.”

Indeed they would, perhaps they already have.

Great great rant from the Instawife (Helen Smith). Here’s an excerpt on the elevated priority of birth control but there’s a lot more where that came from…

Many of those on the left who are female would sell their soul for a package of free birth control pills and some morning after pills given out to teens on demand. I have an image in my mind of a bunch of liberal women fighting over a pack of free birth control pills while our economy and our kids’ future goes up in fiery smoke right next to them without them even noticing. Call me sarcastic, but I fear for our children’s future and their ability to get a job more than I care about whether or not they have to shell out 10 or 20 bucks a month for a pack of birth control pills. (emphasis added – Ed)

READ THE WHOLE THING.

ObamaCare Guts Medicare Advantage

Nothing to see here, at least not until after the election.

For those of you not familiar with Medicare, to get compete coverage you need to either get “Med Supplements’ to plug the gaps in coverage or you get Medicare Advantage which is basically Medicare supplied by a private insurance company who is subsidized by the government.

My fatherinlaw initially had Medicare Supplements but they kept raising the price, so he changed to Medicare Advantage and has been very pleased.

Wouldn’t want to jump to any conclusions: Obama as President “Is Not Optimal”

Let’s make sure that these murders prove to be “not optimal” for the political fortunes of this inept and foolish Commander-in-Chief. Along with “you didn’t build that” and “bumps in the road,” this latest comment of President Obama highlights why this man must be defeated, and defeated convincingly.

It seems to at least give this idea serious consideration you must only live outside the 24 square miles of reality and other isolated islands such as Berkeley, San Francisco, Seattle, etc.

The complete list of faltering or bankrupt green-energy companies:

President Obama’s Taxpayer-Backed Green Energy Failures

So far, 36 companies that have received federal support from taxpayers have either gone bankrupt or are laying off workers and are heading for bankruptcy. This list includes only those companies that received federal money from the Obama Administration’s Department of Energy. The amount of money indicated does not reflect how much was actually received or spent but how much was offered. The amount also does not include other state, local, and federal tax credits and subsidies, which push the amount of money these companies have received from taxpayers even higher.

The complete list of faltering or bankrupt green-energy companies:

1.Evergreen Solar ($24 million)*

Perhaps the Government playing venture capitalist isn’t such a grand idea!? I realize most Boulderites have no issue with the Government flushing taxpayer money down the toilet for green energy, but outside the 24 square miles it’s a different matter.
