PJ Media: “What this means is that we have the forces in the air and on the ground to have stopped the attack at any point, eliminating the terrorists, and saving American lives.”

AC-130U Gunship was On-Scene in Benghazi, Obama Admin Refused to Let It Fire

… and from Fox News: EXCLUSIVE: CIA operators were denied request for help during Benghazi attack, sources say

According to sources on the ground during the attack, the special operator on the roof of the CIA annex had visual contact and a laser pointing at the Libyan mortar team that was targeting the CIA annex. The operators were calling in coordinates of where the Libyan forces were firing from.

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta told reporters at the Pentagon on Thursday that there was not a clear enough picture of what was occurring on the ground in Benghazi to send help.

“There’s a lot of Monday morning quarterbacking going on here,” Panetta said Thursday. “But the basic principle here … is that you don’t deploy forces into harm’s way without knowing what’s going on.”

Hopefully a number of people, including Leon Panetta, President Obama and Hillary Clinton will be Monday morning quarterbacked out of a job.

What about the Camp Bastion attack? that occurred 3 days after the Benghazi 9/11 debacle asks Michelle Malkin

On September 20, John Gresham of the Defense Media Network wrote a scathing detailed breakdown of this little-noticed terrorist attack on our troops. He called it “arguably the worst day in USMC aviation history since the Tet Offensive of 1968.” Eight irreplaceable aircraft were destroyed or put out of action by Taliban warriors dressed in U.S. combat fatigues — amounting to “approximately 7 percent of the total flying USMC Harrier fleet,” Gresham reported.

and let’s not forget…

Two heroic U.S. Marines were killed in the battle. Their names — Lt. Col. Christopher Raible and Sgt. Bradley Atwell – have not been uttered publicly by the commander in chief. Their arrival back in the U.S., in flag-draped coffins, was not broadcast on network TV. But their brothers-in-arms did not and will not forget. And neither must we.

“Since he’s a Democrat, they’re doing their best to ignore it.”

Glenn Reynolds: If he were a Republican, this would lead the network news, complete with footage of reporters making illegal donations under fake names. Since he’s a Democrat, they’re doing their best to ignore it.

CBS chose not to air that portion of the interview….

CBS Busts Obama–and Itself–in Benghazi Cover-Up

Obama’s remarks pointed towards a premeditated attack, in contrast to the story the White House went on to tell for weeks.

CBS chose not to air that portion of the interview with President Obama–not even in the days and weeks that followed, when it was highly relevant–first to the question of the nature of the Benghazi attack, then to the question of whether the president had in fact called it an act of terror from the start.

And the conclusion…

The fact that CBS refrained from publishing the critical clip from the interview widens the political scandal surrounding Benghazi into a media scandal.

National Public Radio’s Mara Liasson criticized CBS on Fox News Special Report yesterday, saying that CBS ought to have made the entire interview with Obama available immediately, in the public interest.

Together with the president, CBS has much to explain.

Indeed they do, except it takes a willing press to hold their feet to the fire. Willing legacy media anywhere?

Boulderites: Your fossil fuel update

US may soon become world’s top oil producer

U.S. oil output is surging so fast that the United States could soon overtake Saudi Arabia as the world’s biggest producer.

Driven by high prices and new drilling methods, U.S. production of crude and other liquid hydrocarbons is on track to rise 7 percent this year to an average of 10.9 million barrels per day. This will be the fourth straight year of crude increases and the biggest single-year gain since 1951.

The boom has surprised even the experts.

One more time, “The boom has surprised even the experts”. Too bad the Obama administration didn’t have the foresight to outlaw this new energy boom. It would make implementing their energy policy and crippling our nation so much easier.

Free Market, Not Government Policy, Drives Energy Boom

Boulderites, here is the keen insight, Government inspired central planning would have never created the energy boom.

There is a lesson here for public policy generally, including health care. No centralized government expert predicted the vast expansion in energy supply from hydraulic fracking. It was produced by decentralized specialists in firms subject to market competition.

No doubt, if Obama gets another 4 years, he and his administration, and especially the EPA, can throw enough rules and regulations in front of the oil and gas industry to short circuit the energy boom.

Obama/Benghazi – Amateur hour too kind

A few days ago I was going to make a post on the whole Libya thing and note that at best it was amateur hour for the Obama administration. It’s become more and more obvious that calling the Presidents real time response and most certainly the after the fact handling of the situation amateur hour would be paying him a complement.

We now have the email that puts that flushes the whole You Tube response down the toilet. Ambassador Susan Rice should resign immediately and others most likely should follow shortly thereafter.

From CBS News: Emails detail unfolding Benghazi attack on Sept. 11

… and Blogger Blackfive’s take on the Consequences of the Benghazi amateur hour make for interesting reading as well.

So what is worse than our State people now knowing that the President will do nothing if they are attacked? Al Qaeda knows that now, too.

More “Green” bad news…

Coal-Eating Microbes Might Create Vast Amounts of Natural Gas

Though the idea of microbial production is not new, says Julio Friedmann, chief energy technologist at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, the technology has taken great strides in recent years, in large part because researchers know more about the different microörganisms that work together to digest coal and produce methane. “I know a handful of companies working on those technologies that seem to have pretty good recovery of natural gas at pretty good cost,” he says. That, he adds, creates a potentially significant market opportunity, and “I wouldn’t have guessed that a couple of years ago.”

Damn, technology keeps arriving to provide inexpensive fossil fuels. The Greens could use a breakthrough in both solar cell and battery technology. Now, R&D IS where government should be allocating (our tax) dollars, not playing venture capitalist.
