I recently heard a surprising story: A female CEO was briefed on a stellar candidate for a top job at her company. “Sounds ideal,” she said to the group in the room.
“Male or female?” Male was the answer. “Damn” was her audible response. The guy wasn’t even interviewed.
Why Are Men Silent
“This has been the coldest season with the most ice since we started Arctic Watch in 2000. Almost no whales. The NWPassage is still blocked with ice. Some of the bays still have not melted!”

And rather than follow the conventional path of indebting yourself for 13-years so that you can attend university for four, and then fork over the bulk of your pay to the government, instead focus on learning tangible, valuable skills overseas.

60 Minutes did an interesting piece on this years ago. Back then there was some noise about a “war on men” coming from the Right. 60 Minutes interviewed one guy who looked into this and said there was no “war on men,” but there was reason for concern. Unfortunately this was so long ago I can’t remember who he was. Women outnumbered men at universities for the first time ever, at the time. He said that the attitudes of families was worrisome, because there was a predominant belief that it’s still “a man’s world,” and so they would invest more in their daughters than their sons, to try to equal things out. If they had to make a decision about which to send to college, they would send their daughter rather than their son, thinking the son “will do fine” without a college degree. He thought families were wrong for thinking this way, saying this would disadvantage men not only in the labor market, but also in terms of marriage. He may have been right that the decisions families have made in the past is a significant contributor to what’s being seen now.
