(title from the comments) Boulder’s proposed grocery bag fee cut in half to 10 cents
It’s mind boggling to me tnat not a single council memeber is against the tax (oops, of course I mean “fee”). All of which leads me to:
- The title of this blog: Boulder is a Stoopid Place
and the subheading
- “So why do intelligent people consistently make such a hash of things? Because they are smart enough to talk themselves into anything. Ordinary mortals don’t engage in fancy mental gymnastics to reach conclusions that defy common sense. But intellectuals are particularly prone to this.”
Obviously, there are no “ordinary mortals” on Boulder City Council.
It's weird that they're not targeting all stores that bag items, like Target. People have worried that they won't be able to get plastic bags that they need for other things, like walking the dog (I'll let you figure it out), without paying the fee. People have said, “I'll just get my bags at Target.” It's my understanding they're still free under this plan.
My wife seems to think that Target is affected by this fee. I don't know but I'm sure it will become clear in the near future.
Whenever government starts micromanaging, you end up with regulation piled on top of regulation in an effort to make it “fair”.
