“What this means for us is a lot of uncertainty,” Eichem said. “It’s not a time to open up the faucet.”
Common sense from a Boulder official. Stunning! This seems like awfully aggressive planning…
The 2012 budget had projected a 4.1 percent increase in retail sales tax revenue — the sales tax collected in stores and restaurants — over the almost $75 million collected in 2011. That projection was based on improvements in retail sales in 2011.
From commentor Bruehaha…
Fact-Longmont sales tax revenues up 9.2% first quarter of 2012. Boulder tax revenues flat. It’s not the economy-stupid!! Boulder & its City Council continue anti-business, anti-Walmart & silly tax policies. Apparently, tax revenue shouldn’t even be a concern for the Republic of Boulder. Keep chasing businesses & consumers out so they can go to the surrounding cities. Longmont is thriving & loving it!!
