Harrisburg Pennsylvania files for bankruptcy

And inquiring minds want to know why….

Pennsylvania’s capital and the city of 49,000 has been struggling under a massive debt burden for years after an incinerator project ballooned to $300 million – 5 times the city’s budget. It’s the largest municipal default since Vallejo, California went under in 2008.

Surely NOTHING like that could happen in Boulder due to municipalization of Xcel’s power grid?

Well let’s think about this for a second…

“So why do intelligent people consistently make such a hash of things? Because they are smart enough to talk themselves into anything. Ordinary mortals don’t engage in fancy mental gymnastics to reach conclusions that defy common sense. But intellectuals are particularly prone to this.”

I’ve got to remember who said this so I can give proper attribution. No, it sure wasn’t me! If there was EVER an opportunity to “make a hash out of things”, municipalization of the power grid is certainly one of them AND of course, Boulder City Council is the perfect group of “intelligent people” to do it.

Ok, it’s from the article ‘Why Presidents do Stupid Things’ by Shikha Dalmia.
