The temperature is rising as drivers and cyclists find it hard to co-exist on Boulder county mountain roads…
Tensions between drivers and bicyclists in rural Boulder County have reached a new level, with fliers circulating in mountain neighborhoods asking drivers to blockade next month’s Sunrise Century ride.
From Colorado State Trooper David Hall…
“As frustrating as it might be for some, they (cyclists) have the right to use the roads,” Hall said. “When we see bicyclists who are disregarding the rules of the road, we do enforce that.”
Trooper Hall, I can name you a number of places you can set up shop and write ticket after ticket on cyclists. Is there a database where the public can see the history of tickets written on cyclists? It would be nice if the local paper would investigate this but no chance of that.
It’s going to be interesting time. In general I sympathise with the drivers, which is no surprise to readers of this blog. That said, I do my best to keep my distance from cyclists, it’s a lose/lose situation.
Hey, don’t forget to read the comments, that’s where the action is!
